Chart-Track to monitor sales of video game software and console hardware in Denmark.
The UK and Ireland chart body, Chart-Track, has been commissioned by the Danish Trade body to compile weekly game software and hardware data. The appointment by the Multi Medie Foreningen comes after a six-month trial period. The first official Danish charts were released on January 9 and showed EA's Need for Speed Carbon as the number-one full-price game and THQ's Cars as the best-selling budget title. The new chart will be compiled with data from Danish retailers B.O. Bøger, Blockbuster, Coop, Dansk Supermarked, EB Games, F Group, Game, and Merlin. Multi Medie Foreningen's managing director, Peter Weile, commented, "For the first time we now have access to independent market retail data, and we see this as a major step forward for the Danish games industry."
