March of 2008? sorry but I'll be busy with Super Smash Bros Brawl by then. I pass on this one thanx...................
Industry titan teams with upstart outfit to copublish upcoming party game for Wii and DS.
"Training" games are popular choices on the Nintendo DS and Wii. But while most of these titles attempt to train players to think quicker, sharpen visual acuity, or learn a new language, Electronic Arts today announced a game meant to hone reflexes akin to those of the notoriously lithe and deadly ninja.
Set to be copublished on the Wii and DS by EA Partners and Nunchuck Games, Ninja Reflex is an "action party" game for up to four players that tests and measures players' reflexes in a series of thematically appropriate minigames. As players sharpen their reaction times, they will work their way toward a black belt from their sensei.
EA Partners is the external publishing arm of Electronic Arts, and has worked with independent developers to put out titles like Harmonix's Rock Band and Valve's The Orange Box. Nunchuck is an upstart company founded last year by Z-Axis Studios founder David Luntz.
Developed by San Francisco-based Sanzaru Games, Ninja Reflex is set for release in March of 2008.
How many people will buy this trash because it has the word "ninja" in it? I saw several posts saying the equivalent of: "LEWL IJAJNS R TEH WINDDSN I WNAT 2 BY IT NWOWOR!" I find that a little sad, but it would appear that's exactly what EA is banking on in making this one. I'll pass, thanks.
"You think this game would be just as promising if the word "ninja" in the title would be replace with the word..... Peanut Butter?" How about adding it? Peanut Butter Ninja! There's the next big hit right there. haha :D
So, the only reason why this is kewl is cause of the word "ninja"? You think this game would be just as promising if the word "ninja" in the title would be replace with the word..... Peanut Butter? Hope the game shows potental... not just awe.
@Np_Pro punksta99, what do you call Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess (i can go on) By all means, please do.
Well, as long as the game ends up being good, I can't say that I can complain. I just hope EA makes more good games for the Wii in general. The Wii Zapper's got my interest lately, and if a few more good games for the Wii (and especially the Zapper) come out, I may end up just getting one.
Oh lord!, Now we get to listen to politicians complain about how video games are training kids to be assassins, yeah good idea. beside what does reflex have to do with any game... sound kinda pointless really...
So, basically EA wants to cash in on the ninja subculture boom? I doubt that it will be nearly as cool as a ninja training game should be.
At first I thought this was some action adventure game, but I'll be satisfied with a party game. I may or may not check it out. It has to have some depth like Warioware and break the mold.
whahahaha! The ultimate game for otakus! Oh, please. Reflexes training, allright, but why the heck ninjas? Heck, why not throw in Naruto when your busy anyway? Sheesh.
Oh boy. Now we get to listen to politicians complain about how video games are training kids to be assassins.
actually i am looking forward to this, I like honing m reflexes, and the idea of it being a party game makes it even more intense against friends. Just for the record, Party games to the Wii is what Live enabled games is to Xbox360, just get over it.
????sounds a little dumb to me. just go outside and practice fighting and what not. its more fun than games and it forces you to learn or get hurt.
More complaints from fanboys when the game isn't out, whats new. And using acronyms to degrade someone, even if you don't agree then just get over it. "QuoBi". You have issues.
Oh great..... here we go again with yet ANOTHER offbeat or party mini game type thingy. The Wii is such a interesting system with great potential to play "legit" software and that is what I thought I was getting. Instead it just seems most developers are interested in making kiddy-party-minigame-casual experiences or shovelware fecal matter that is budget priced. Come on people , GIVE US MORE!!!
TheMotherBrain "I wish they'd make games like this that were less childish." What, you mean like mini-games where the object is to kill people, look dark and brooding, and say curse words?
Even though this is mini-game based, I hope it will appeal to both hardcore and casual. Just give it some good depth, and I will be a happy customer.
we can't blame nintendo for this. it's the developers that refuse to go beyond party games. i like many don't even play party games, and will not even take a look at this as it sits on the shelf. anyone else not play party games?
and the 50 million kiddies will be getting it which will make developers feel like why bother making games like gears and killzone.
Mario party 8 out sold most of the million dollar to produce games released the same year. Lets see how this comes out before ridiculing EA.
