E3 2011: Vita tiered pricing lands at $250 and $300

I'll rather have the 250 dollar version, I'm buying the vita for gaming not for some additional features. A 250 dollar vita seems more reasonable than a 250 dollar 3DS.

Im guessing battery life will be better with catridge based systemt is it using memeory stick or sd

i think 299aus would be a fatastic price and be competitve at lauch this holiday season.

Well, Initially I Was Shocked With How Low The Prices We're & i thought it was a definite Buy But Today I Looked At A Local Pre-Order In UK & The Price Was no where near i was expecting ( I Was Expecting £180 Because exchange rates) Instead £229 Showed up....Sigh

I so want "constant online" or 3G....but I bet AT&T will charge +80$ a month for unlimited. Why, cause they can. Their towers/service is already bogged down and limited so much that their network is unreliable. I used to have AT&T.....I had to drive to the next town over just to use my phone without roaming charges. I bought the plan in a larger city when I was out one day. Sigh.

The vita is awesome

Unlimited 3G for 300 dollars? Hell yea. Now I can take online gaming on a handheld seriously. With WiFi only I figured what the hell if I'm using my home's WiFi I might as well play on a home system.

I like the pricing, could compete with the 3DS. Shame for the AT&T thing.

If I can actually play games without the battery running out in under 4 hours, then this is a win.

Affordable! The AT&T part sucks tho. Guess I will get the Wi-Fi version and use my Droid as a hotspot when necessary.

What I find funny is that the Vita has a better online community setup than the PS3.

I don't understand all that jail breaking mumbo jumbo and so on and with that said will we be able to use this with our own current cellphone provider ?

Sweet! With better graphics, & more features in this thing, this will surely sway me to buy this over the 3DS, especially now that it is offering at the same price tag as the 3DS is now. Plus there will be plenty of good games coming out for it. :)

Sony just landed themselves a sale with me at $250. As long as the only thing different is the 3G anyway.

And only a fool would say the 3DS doesn't stand a chance. Different types of games on each system. Mario, Pokemon Zelda, Metorid...etc are the types of games people buy a 3DS for. They buy Sony handheld for the FPS games and whatever else will be out there.

I haven't owned a Sony System since early PS2 days but at the price they are releasing the Vita I will probably get one. They aren't shooting themselves in the foot this time like they did with the PS3, which I still do not own.

@hunter8man they have a contract with AT&T because the technology AT&T uses is more common around the world. Verizon's technology is not that popular. Great prices for this thing. 3DS goes for 249. hmph

They might want to rethink an exclusive deal with the worst carrier out there. AT&T is garbage. Just for that, I'll forgo 3G and get the Wi-Fi version.

@varunvikram1 Sony has always given preference to america price wise, content wise to japan and left europe to fester but that's what we expect from them now (I honestly don't know why people put up with it).

does sony know how to convert prices cause it costs like 310$ in japan, 350$ in euro/uk. US is 250, these prices are "countrist". Atleast nintendo is consistent with the 3ds prices throughout the world.

yes now I can afford both systems. really I don't think 3DS has to worry all to much about the PSVita they both have a following for diffrent reasons I personally want to experience what both can do.

@monson21502, Millions of real gamers would buy PS Vita over the IPad because PS Vita is way more powerful than a IPad and cheaper.

They seriously needed a screen capture feature for the NGP during the conference. That said, despite the terrible name I will be getting one, maybe even day one.

At first Vita sounded weird to me, but now it has a nice ring to it. I also like the meaning of the word.

PSV looks awesome! :) A steady pricing given by Sony, well to have a power house like that in your bag every where you go is amazing! :D

Sony should really thank Nintendo. Thanks to the 3DS people percieve the Vita as cheap at 250 dollars. Without the 3DS people would have gone mental for sure.

@monson21502 Who would buy Vita over an iPad? Any SANE gamer perhaps. Enjoy paying $600 for a useless tablet while everyone else has fun with real gaming.

This is the first time sony "named" one of its products to be honest...PS1...PS2...PSportable...PS3... Other than the trademarked name "Playstation", none of the other consoles had any other name other than a literal indication of what the console is.
