E3 2002: Star Wars Galaxies coming to the PS2 and Xbox
LucasArts announces console versions of its highly anticipated Star Wars-themed online role-playing game.
This morning, LucasArts announced that its forthcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars Galaxies is headed not just to the PC, but also to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles. Specific release dates for the console versions will be revealed "at a later date," according to the release, although the PC version's release date was reconfirmed to be December of this year. LucasArts also mentioned that the PC version would be called Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. The subtitle for the game had not previously been announced.
Star Wars Galaxies will be a game in which thousands of players may simultaneously assume roles in the classic Star Wars universe, creating their alternate personas by choosing from a number of different races and a wide variety of professions. The game will allow players to engage in combat, a wide variety of social activities, and more. Whether the various versions of Star Wars Galaxies will be compatible has not yet been confirmed.
