Bikes and quads series gets Untamed while Crypto returns in two separate games; all three set for early 2008.
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--After years of relying on licenses like Nickelodeon, WWE, and Pixar, THQ is increasing its emphasis on its own series and characters. To kick off the E3 Media and Business Summit, the publisher has unveiled three such games it plans to release early next year: a new MX vs. ATV title and two new Destroy All Humans! installments.
The publisher is firing up its stunt-and-racing series once more, with MX vs. ATV Untamed set for release this January on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS. The publisher also said PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable versions of the game would be released simultaneously, though it didn't specify when. THQ is focusing on bigger outdoor environments with more things in them, an X-cross career mode, and the EnduroCross mode meant to showcase the game's Rhythm Racing physics engine by pitting the player against especially rough terrain. The publisher also said it is tailoring each version of the game to its platform's strengths.
Also early next year, the human-hating extraterrestrial Crypto 137 will make his Xbox 360 and PS3 debut in Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon. Where Destroy All Humans! 2 set the ruthless visitor free in the 1960s, Path of the Furon will give gamers the chance to obliterate the equally absurd world of the "Funked Out 1970s."
While Path of the Furon is limited to the latest Sony and Microsoft systems, Crypto will be spreading mayhem anew on other platforms with Destroy All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed for the Wii, PS2, and PSP. While the game is set in the same "Funked Out 1970s" as Path of the Furon, it will serve as a prequel of sorts for that game. As for the significance of the title, the game introduces the Big Willy giant robot suit to Crypto's array of destructive methods. Set for release early next year, THQ said the game was "designed from the ground up" for the Wii.
what no S.T.A.L.K.E.R.!!!!!!!!! YOU PROMISED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YOU PROMISEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Also early next year, the human-hating extraterrestrial Crypto 137 will make his Xbox 360 and PS3 debut in Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon." Hey THQ please release this game for the PS2 too, I don't have a PS3 or 360!
Yeah, it's really unfortunate that the Wii can't get the same sequel as the 360 and PS3. Sure they might want to add motion control mechanics in the Wii version, but it's clear that hardware restrictions might also have to do with it. :(
nice to see the wii has fallen to the ranks of the ps2 and PSP, it's almost as if it's a last generation console
I am definitely looking forward to Destory All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed for the Wii. This story also reminds me I need to pick up the first two games :P
Pretty much a lot of the games I own from THQ are from licensed media. It would be interesting to see how THQ pull this one off.
i want all of them! i'm definately getting Destroy all Humans for the 360 and the Wii, but i don't know which console to get MX vs ATV untamed on. it's a choice between probable tilt control or better graphics and achievements...
I haven't played any Destroy All Humans! games ,but have heard and have saw good so I'll probably get it.As for ATV I'm not a big car racing game fan, but there's no exception ATV racing.
path of furon should be on wii too, its just not fair that ps3 and 360 get the good games from companies and wii is stuck with all this crap cant wait for big willy
I am looking forward to another Destory All Humans! game because I am fan of the series and it on these new consoles will look excellent and hopefully do an awesome job.
Destroy All Humans! is an awesome franchise and I've been waiting for a next-gen incarnation of it.The MX game looks like good fun,but I am personally looking forward to the Wii version of Big Willy Unleashed and Path of the Furon for the 360.Nice line-up THQ :D
next gen Destory all Humans could be pretty sweet. I rented the first one and enjoyed it. Never played the 2nd one though...
Destroy All Humans is my favorite series of all time. I'm getting the PS2 and PSP versions of Big Willy and the 360 version of 3.
If Big Willy was designed for Wii, I question how the other versions will do. Rayman ought to be proof that the very nature of Wii unintentionally forces its games to be stand alone ventures. Not a bad thing (to us gamers) because uniqueness drives interest. I guess they felt they ought to at least try.
If it's designed from the ground up for the Wii, why bother with a PS2 and PSP release? I hope they make it enjoyable for the two Sony platforms, rather than a chore. Bad ports are frustrating. Of course, if I get it, I'll get the Wii version, so no skin off my nose.
