True I think it most definately have a monthly free. Can someone tell how "guild wars" is doing it without a monthly charge? Guild Wars can do this for free because the world is entirely instanced except the "hubs", so the server does not have to be nearly as robust or nearly as high capacity as a server for WOW or EQ, for example. Those games support 2000 - 3000 players in the same persistent server whereas Guild Wars splits off players in groups of up to 8 in their own separate mini-worlds whenever they go questing. Each hub only supports a small number of people (basically a matchmaking room) so this is much cheaper. It works more like Diablo, although the producers promoted Guild Wars as an MMO, which is really misleading. Guild Wars makes its money by releasing new content on a regular basis sold as expansion packs. Most other monthly-fee MMO's release lots of content for free or for very cheap in comparison on a frequent basis. City of Heroes / Villains release new content very often without extra charges, for example. EQ2 releases lots of optional mini-packs for $5 or so for some extra adventures and content.
E3 06: Huxley leading Webzen's E3 lineup
Korean publisher's MMOFPS will join Soul of the Ultimate Nation and casual MMOG Project Wiki.
Today, Korean publisher Webzen joined the slowly growing ranks of publishers who have revealed their Electronic Entertainment Expo lineups.
The main attraction at its booth, which is in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, will be Huxley. Set in a sci-fi universe where humans battle mutants, the game is a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter and will allow for up to 5,000 players in a single game world. Huxley is set for release on the Xbox 360 and PC this fall.
Also on display at the Webzen booth will be Soul of the Ultimate Nation (SUN). The massively multiplayer online role-playing game is set in a fantasy world wracked by civil war. However, instead of the normal MMOG character-creation process, players will choose a character of one of four class types and then have to uncover the character's backstory. SUN is being developed for PCs and is tentatively set to ship this fall.
Last but not least, Webzen will be showcasing a new casual MMOG at E3. Called Project Wiki, it will be "fairy tale themed" and will let each player's actions affect the entire game world. It, too, will be PC-exclusive.
