Dynasty Warriors One Piece game revealed
Namco Bandai x Tecmo Koei tease revealed as another Musou spin-off along the lines of Dynasty Warriors Gundam, Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage.
Last week, Namco Bandai put up a teaser site for a project that would mix one of its properties with one from rival publisher Tecmo Koei. The countdown on that site has expired, and the crossover project has been revealed as One Piece: Kaizoku Musou.
One Piece: Kaizoku Musou will combine Namco Bandai's One Piece series of anime and manga with Tecmo Koei's Sengoku Musou series of action games, better known in the West as Dynasty Warriors. The game is currently in development for the PlayStation 3.
This is not the first time Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei have collaborated on a project. Since 2007, the pair have released three Dynasty Warriors Gundam titles, combining Namco Bandai's giant robot license with gameplay in the mold of Tecmo Koei's historical beat-'em-up series. Tecmo Koei has also adapted its Dynasty Warriors series for Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage, released as Hokuto Musou in Japan.
Although both the Gundam and Fist of the North Star series resembled the Dynasty Warriors franchise, they weren't direct crossovers. In both cases, the Tecmo Koei franchise was present only in the basic gameplay and structure of the series.
