Dragon Age CE'd, MAG delayed to '10? - Retail Radar
[UPDATE] GameStop and GameFly now listing Zipper Interactive 256-person team shooter as arriving next January; BioWare's fantasy RPG gets extra-packed $75/$65 collector's edition with Mass Effect 2 in-game bonus.
One of the centerpieces of Sony's press briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo was the first live demo of MAG. (See video below.) The first-party military shooter was shown being simultaneously played by 256 employees of its developer, Zipper Interactive, from a variety of points of view. Commanders will see a top-down video of the battlefield from which they can direct lower-level soldiers, who will see a grunt's-eye view.
Playable on the show floor, the PlayStation 3-exclusive MAG made an impression on many E3 attendees, who were eager to pick it up later this year. Now, though, it appears the wait may be a bit longer. Though Sony said at E3 that the game would ship in the fall, both GameStop and GameFly are now listing it as arriving in January 2010. Conversely, Best Buy is still listing the game as arriving in October, while Amazon is not offering up a ship date at all.
[UPDATE] When asked about the date change, a Sony rep said, "We have made no announcements in regards to MAG's launch date. Retailers are speculating." Often, however, retailers will update their databases before a delay is made public--although on many occasions they will also enter placeholder dates.
Meanwhile, Electronic Arts is being completely clear about its release plans for Dragon Age: Origins, the role-playing game from BioWare due out on October 20. Besides the previously announced no-frills edition ($49.99 PC, $59.99 consoles), the game will come in a collector's edition that will retail for $64.99 on the PC and $74.99 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The collector's edition will feature a tin case, a cloth map, and an extra-laden bonus DVD that includes a soundtrack, a strategy guide, concept art footage, wallpapers, and a "making-of" documentary. It will also feature several virtual goods, including the "Stone Prisoner" bonus quest and an unlockable character called Shale. The disc will feature three other pieces of in-game content whose types were unspecified:"Bergens Honor," "Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes," and "Final Reason." Those who preorder the game from GameStop will get two other in-game items that increase health regeneration and experience accrual.
Finally, also included in the Dragon Age: Origins collector's edition is an unnamed in-game item to be used in another BioWare game, Mass Effect 2, due out in spring 2010.

hmmm....i really want to get MAG...but i can wait. with 256 online player battles...they can take all the time they need to prep up this game and make it perfect with zero to minimal lag. i would hate if they just rushed it out with bugs and defects.
To hell with MAG. Be it 4-player or 4,000, just looks like another mediocre fps clone directed at the idiots who've never touched a video game before Halo. Can't wait for Dragon Age.

No problem. There is no rush for a battle of 256 Players Online, for Free, without lag, exclusive and only can work on PlayStation 3. Still, there are more Exclusives to have fun.
I hope that you can use the Mass Effect 2 extras cross platform. I don't want to get Dragon Age for PC and be unable to use the bonus content in ME2 for Xbox 360

M.A.G is good name for it, it sounds appealing and alot of people would know about it when you mention "M.A.G". Im glad it got delayed. The game feels rushed to me having it only been announced last year E3. If anything it should come out around June of 2010. Why? More time to fix up graphics, gameplay, add features and fix up glitches, plus work on the servers to guarantee the game will deliver. Im hyped for this game but even the demo looks like its going to have issues with lag, and sprite issues around the iron sights. In the mean time i can be playing MW2 while wearing my nigh vision goggles. LOL
MAG seriously looks cool, i hope they can pull it off. 2010 IS going to be a great year for PS3! Dragon age looks cool, Can't wait to give it a try!
Good god, even the Collector's Editions of games are getting Collector's Editions. Okay, not really, except Halo 3... Oh, and if they're delaying MAG, does that mean they need more time to give the game a proper name?

kind of interested in the items included for the collectors addition, might have to get it if not for the Dragon's Age content then for the Mass Effect 2 item.
i would rather get in game items than a strategy guide. there are walkthroughs everywhere online. exclusive in game items are at least something that you cant get for free
i would wait as long as i have to, knowing that when i go to bed, MAG will be lag, bug, glitch, and annoying 10 year old free.

I always buy the collectors edition... used a year after it came out :) they always end up losing their value so now developers are packaging stuff that is useless for the second or third owner (i.e. golden lancer codes). I dont mind though I always like watching the "making of" documentary.
Can't wait for these games to come out, hope they are good cause they are on my wish list :D
Getting a strategy guide in the pack sounds good, as I would never buy one anyway, but getting in game items is just stupid. You either should or shouldn't include them, period. How can you justify paying extra to get a leg up in a game? It's ridiculous. And getting something ingame for a game that's like 6 months away? How odd.
MAG on console....no thanks. DAO....maybe on console but probably not what I will purchase it to run on.
Sure, we can get mad at game developers for letting collector's edition content get out of control. However, they wouldn't be creating it if people weren't buying it. ...so I'm blaming everyone on this board, all Gamespot members, and all gamers in the world...no universe!

Nope, it's only extra quests and characters. Who even knows what the other content is? Maybe it's a weapon we'd actually use. This just gets more and more out of hand each time. It starts with golden lancers, then it's an extra character, then it's new game content, and now they're actually packaging content for other games in their high-priced collector's edition. It's absolutely ridiculous and a cheap marketing strategy on EA's part. Buy this other game or you won't get this content, it's like holding content hostage.
Oh and with any luck, MAG is being delayed for improvements and debugging so we get a better game. I'm down to wait as long as needed to get 256-Player frag-fests going WITHOUT lag. This just means I can play MW2 and Dragon Age until MAG comes out, then switch to MAG. Why complain?
I love how everyone complains that they are going to get jipped out of an experience if they don't get whatever bonus unlockable retailers are getting for special editions and pre-orders. (OMG I didn't get the Gold Lancer in GoWII so now everyone is better than me!!!shift+1) None of these items change the game at all. Yeah health regeneration and experience accrual might make the game a little easier, but you aren't getting a new story, you aren't getting alternate endings, you aren't getting much of anything really. And 90% of the time whatever item they give you can be unlocked/looted/earned in game later on. Usually it is some cosmetic bonus or an early unlock of something you'll get later anyway. If you don't want to pay the extra money don't, the games are going to be great with our without the bonuses.

I'm not getting Dragon Age to play Mass Effect 2... but I don't want to be cheated on my ME 2 experience... maybe it really is time to flip off the gaming industry and find something better to do with my life. The Dragon age stuff sounds great for those that really want to get into Dragon Age, but putting the ME stuff in there is just BS.
I knew this would happen when everyone was like oh Sony will destroy Microsoft this year with all their exclusives I knew that most of Sonys games announced at E3 wouldnt make it this year, no big deal it will still be fun when it comes out just saying Sony usually oversells their "this year PS3 exclusives at E3."
I hope MAG works out...I really enjoyed Planetside which is what this is based heavily off of...time will tell.
it would be wise for any publisher to move the release date of any of their games that are coming out near MW2's date, as it going to sell an even amount or more than GTA IV I must say.
i wont be suprised if they delay it, cause MW2 is coming out around that time and it would be wise to delay, cause MW2 is gona sell like no other, everyone knows that.

Why are people no worried, MAG hasn't been officially delayed yet and we've all seen from the past retailers putting up random dates. And even if it was delayed, it lists January so it's not too bad of a delay. At least we have a date, not a '' 2010 fiscal year '' or something like that... If they can make this game better and probably improve the servers, then sure, I can wait 3 more months...
only 2 retailers saying the game is getting delayed not zipper themselves and until they do I don't believe the game is getting delayed and why is it the most people that are bashing mag doesn't even own a ps3 are you jealous and just want to see it fail because you can't play it or do you just hate the ps3 all together
