Sony has already said that every retail PlayStation Vita game will be downloadable as well, but the company hadn't mentioned that the digitally distributed games would be cheaper to boot. Game Informer has received confirmation from Sony that downloaded games will indeed be cheaper, with details on the discounts expected "in the very near future."

A discount might take the sting out of not being able to trade in digital games.

The report stemmed from a NeoGAF poster who noticed that Best Buy preorders for the digital edition of PS Vita games were being offered at a discounted rate. A picture of the listing showed 10 percent off downloaded titles, with $40 retail games like Unit 13 and MLB 12 available digitally for $36, and $30 titles like Reality Fighters and Little Deviants selling for $27. The picture also listed the normally $50 Uncharted: Golden Abyss available as a download for $45 and the digital-only Super Stardust Delta for $10.

A Sony representative verified the news for GameSpot, saying, "We can confirm that PS Vita games downloaded from the PS Store on PSN will carry a discount. Further details are not being revealed at this time, but please be on the lookout for an announcement in the very near future."
