They should make it so you can control Cloud by pointing and clicking. Oh and also fix the midi music.

All I can say, is it's about time!! I absolutely loved FFVII on the PlayStation as I did FFX. My biggest upset to most of the earlier versions of Final Fantasy was that they were exclusive to the PlayStation. The newer versions were great but were in no way comparable to FFVII. I concur with nurse_tsunami's statement completely. Say goodbye to sunlight!

It would be nice if they put this out on steam.  Oh well, I still have a couple copies of the PSX version if one fo them dies.

This is big news for real fans. Tempted to buy a PC just to play it, god damn Apple. Mac version would be a welcome surprise, but it'll never happen, an assumption based purely on my own bad luck. Who cares about the graphics? Ok lots of people.. but why? This game gave me morals as a child. That counts for something.

where has it been said this will be in hd? unless this looks better then orginial ps1 game emulated at 1080p this be no t point cause the orignal pc verison looked like crap compared to emulating the orginal game disc, not to mention music was pure crap on pc verison.

Unless this 1080p video's and battles with slight upgrade world and town visuals i see no point in them doing this other then to piss people off, or better yet make FF game like it was there last one and if it fails they close there doors sorta like the did with the first one that saved them

Come on Square remake 6 and 7 as they are the most requested and will sell a ton.  The franchise will not be "over" after that because remakes of franchises happen all the time and those franchises thrive because of it.  the sales of the remake of 6 would fund a remake of 7 and that would fund whatever new Final Fantasy you want to make and you would still have a ton of profit left over.

imo they should follow what baldur's gate is doing and announce a new edition together with the remake, not make us play some cloud-saving version of ff7 and see if it'll match the original sales. cuz it won't.but a completely redone ff7 (graphics, design, control, and all) is something different. even though i've played through ff7 many times and squeezed out all possible secrets and achievements out of it i'll still be intrigued to play it again if i can go over the epic story with 'advent children' style graphics. that would be something indeed.

By saying that a FF7 remake won't be made until a new FF game can outsell out FF7 is essentially saying a remake will never be made without upsetting those diehards who REALLY want a FF7 remake.

I don't know why they keep teasing it, a new FF will never outsell FF7 for a couple reasons, the number one being it was made during a time when the Final Fantasy series mattered.

This HD release is probably the best anyone could ever realistically hope for, so I hope it satisfies them.

I don't see any reason to buy this... But I get why they might be releasing it... Clearly they don't want to remake FF7, so by releasing tons of versions of the original they are boosting it's sales to a level no new Final Fantasy game can attain.

ITs just money grubbing. THere is nothing more.SInce they are not updating anything and I personally find achievments beyond embarassing(a virtual badge really?) there is no reason to buy when you already have it like myself.  Its like one of these HD reame collections. Ttry to cash in by selling the same game without any work

Anyone with half a brain knows multiple ways to get max stats in FF7 without having ot download a special version that 'boosts' your characters.

Also lol at developing a FF7 remake only if the next game tops the original FF7 in sales... That's beyond retarded. FF7 not only was one of the best games of all time, it came at a time when gamers had no right to expect a game of that magnitude. It raised the bar so much higher than anything that preceded it that of course it was going to have staggering sales. I recall it scoring a 96% rating or something with a magazine I used to buy (lol, I used to buy magazines...) Point is, a FF7 remake would be so lucrative that it has to be done eventually. If you remake it on the next gen console, I will buy the console just to play the damn game. So there's £400 or w/e from me straight away. To try and lure fans into buying the latest FF installment with the tag that if it outsells FF7 they'll remake it seems a bit silly.

Hell, I remember the technical demo for the PS3, it was the most exciting thing about the console!

Japanese devs are bloody lazy. Instead of creating something new, they keep churning out remake, re-release and remastered. The same can be said about anime and manga with series that go on for hundreds of boring episodes without end.

I'd rather wait for Sony to open up PSOne games for the Vita and get it from there :-)

i have finished FF 1, 2 ,3, 5, 6, 12, 13 but i need to play this game!!

To me, this and Xenogears were the best rpgs ever.  I just play my copies straight off the disks using the PSX emulator.  I might be interested in this though because of the achievements. Maybe if this does well they will consider putting out a remake.

It's not true PC FFVII without the giant triangle box it originally released in.

I don't get why the system specs are so high considering the age of this old game and the fact that it came out on pc a long time ago. And I'm surprised to see that they're still releasing this game and not even with a proper updated. Do the achievements really make a difference? The game didn't need any.

How about you just make another game with Genesis as the main Villain and finish off the Final Fantasy 7 Universe. So many plot holes were created with Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus .. I demand they fill them.

Awesome news.  Even if they don't improve the graphics, the original PC version (which is what I played way back when) was designed specifically for 3DFX hardware.  Anyone remember those cards?  Great for their time, but 3DFX doesn't exist anymore.  The last time I tried running the game the video ended up all funny.

I don't need FF:Advent Children level graphics to enjoy the game again, I just want to be able to play it.  Besides Steam, Good Old Games is my second favorite PC digital storefront, and those games don't have improved graphics either.

I have FF7 on my pc without any bugs or glitches.

I think they shouldn't make VII remake. Maybe They should think about sequel - FFVII-2. With same characters like Cloud, Barret and Tifa. The secound "VII" could take actions after a Advent Children story. Telling more about Cids, Barrets past.  But in this case the gameplay should be like in original (materia, stats) or little tuned up (higher HP/MP, more materia, much more equipment). I think this could be great becouse - how many time You can play the same game if nothing can suprise you? Final Fantasy VII its the one of the greatest game not becouse of graphic. It's about 'those" emotions it bring to You, wonderful story, music and characters. They should pump much more from this title, becouse how far the Series can go Final Fantasy XXX-9 ?
