Doom 4 not canceled, supposed game art surfaces

If they do that, they should create an action packed game with realism not just on the graphics. and please, a better writter this time than mathew castello.

im glad theres doing to be a doom 4.. played them all and I liked and loved them... and doom 3 scared the bit jesus out of me at night so yeah i would love another 'scare the holy chap outta me' me game..

i should play start playing doom 3 again.

@YellowJello That's just your opinion, I found Doom 3 to be a bit of a reboot to the series, and a good one at that. Your forgetting that this is a next generation game, not like Call of Duty Shovelware.

@ Djiel - The problem is that games like that don't sell because they're dated. Games have gotten better since then, and Doom needs to stay dead. Doom 3 was just so average across the board back in 2004 even with the so-called "innovations."

Sequal to Rage? That game looked nice but was boring with all the traveling.

id needs to realize that Doom does not need side characters or a "story" or things like missions/quests whatever. The best Dooms were just about you, the player, shooting the crap out of horders of demons in hellish areas with nobody to help you but your trusty shotgun. And please.. for the love of this game, no stupid regenerating health or cover systems! Doom4 should have a good oldschool feeling that will do this series justice as a true sequel.

With all these portage messes, I have very low expectations.

I hope Doom 4 won't be dissapointing like doom 3. but after consolized Rage disaster, I got suspicious..

Doom 4 is definitely being done, and after that I'll look forward to Rage 2 on next-gen consoles :)

If Doom 4 is like Quake 2 or Rage, it risks to be cool for me.

i luv how gaming websites hit a news drought at this time of the year and stick to rumors.

i just hope they develop it for PC from the ground up and not just port it off as they did with RAGE.

For some reason, my gut tells me this is going to turn into the new "Duke Nukem: Forever". I hope it doesn't, but that's what my instincts tell me.

megagames.com had lots of leaked screens, if it is Doom4 then it looks very good, could be a doom 2 remake, Hell on Earth....

I wasn't too worried about Doom 4 since it was pretty obvious they were focusing on Rage until it was released. Though I must admit I was getting a little impatient waiting for Doom 4. It's nice hearing even a little news about the game and hopefully some footage will surface during E3.Now that Rage has been out a while I feel ID will be less quiet about Doom. I'm also glad ID has plans for a Rage 2. I thought Rage was pretty awesome and look forward to what happens next. It was a great start for the series in my opinion. I really loved the Dead City, and I hope to see a lot more of that in the next game.

This is a good thing that Doom 4 is still in development! I hope ID soft could fine tune the PC version of Doom 4, because when they did Rage, the PC version was not that good, hopefully they fix the issues on the PC 's side!!!! ID soft does great work from what I've seen!

Not everyone cares about having a class A storyline. I just want a frickin badass shooter with awesome gameplay and hordes of demons to shoot in the face with a double barrel shotgun.

They need to go back to the feel of the original Doom games. Shooting demons that attack en-mass. Hordes of killer teched out monsters, and a creepy atmosphere.

I dont know why people are worried about the sreenshots, they could be fake, but even if they are real then the game has been in development for some time, so they could be old. Besides i think Rage was a good looking game, im certain D4 will be just as good, likely better. This game will surely look good and more importantly should play amazingly, i cant wait to see how this actually turns out.

@PinkyLord They are made by different people, id doesnt make elder scrolls or fallout games.

Probably just more "monster closets". I got tired of knowing exactly what was going to happen in Doom 3. "Hit this switch, and yep, there's the monster in the closet to attack me". Yawn. Id just doesn't know how to make a game with a decent story. They're just tech wizards, that can make some cool levels, tied together with just a shred of a story. Look at Rage. I didn't even bother finishing it. I bought it for PC, and it was launched with tons of flaws. Besides, a post apocalyptic wasteland? Hmmm....where have I played those games, a few times already? I'll hold out hope for Doom 4. I'm interested but, if it's the same old Id, which seems to be falling behind, more and more, in the "relevant" world, I won't even bother with a purchase. Maybe Carmack can whip up a new iPhone game; "Angry Demons"? XD

In case those screenshots are real (who knows) It's amazing to read so many "game experts" judging screenies from what is provably an alpha version like if it were the final product. Really...

Doom? ...or another Half-Life wanna be? Doom 3 was a wanna be. Here's a hint... Doom = fast paced, gory, mass killing, action. Stop money grubbing with your game designs and maybe the money will come naturally.

Well hope they fix that broken IdTech 5 or 6 or whatever the engine was cos it aint so great running Rage Fixing all the texture popups weeks after launch LOL

Doom 3 was a game full of horror and action imiss dat game and hope the next doom have a good story and a good horror full of action

They said it would be more like Doom 1 and 2.. doesn't look like that from those screens.. makes me a little sad. Still playing Doom 1 and 2 in 2012.. keeps being epic! Even more so with all the awesome user made content over the years. You don't see that often anymore :/

As long as it has team deathmatch and the campaign is longer than an inchworm.

Looks like Doom 3 or its add-on/seperate game for the original Xbox. For now though I'm not convinced these so called screen shots are from Doom 4.

Whar are they going to call it Doom 4: Revenge of 2005?
