DJ Hero confirmed for Wii, 360, 'PlayStation'
Launch of teaser site confirms turntablist Guitar Hero spin-off will come to Microsoft console and at least one of Sony's platforms; Nintendo edition reconfirmed.
As part of its record-setting earnings report last month, Activision Blizzard confirmed that it was releasing DJ Hero this year. In a conference call with analysts, executives said that the Guitar Hero spin-off would be specifically hitting the Nintendo Wii and "a variety of platforms." Other than to express their enthusiasm, they declined to get more specific.
Today, though, Activision launched a teaser site for DJ Hero, which is rumored to feature a turntable peripheral similar to Guitar Hero's simulated instrument. Though it offers no new announcements, the site features official logos that reconfirm the Wii edition and reveal that the game is coming to the Xbox 360. The presence of an Xbox Live logo indicates that it will also have an online component of some kind.
Finally, the presence of the PlayStation logo indicates that the game will arrive for at least one of Sony's two consoles currently on the market. A PlayStation 3 version is all but assured, given that Activision has publically aired doubts about releasing new games for the PlayStation 2. In the same conference call referenced above, executives said that their continued support of the aging console--which was released in late 2000--is contingent on Sony cutting its price. Currently, the PS2 sells for $129.99 in North America.
Notably absent on the DJ Hero site are logos for the PC, DS, or the PSP, which has its own dedicated logo. Guitar Hero III was ported to the PC (and Mac) by Asypr in 2007, but no further series installments have been released for home computers. And though Activision has never released a rhythm game for the PSP, a DS DJ Hero is a possibility, given the wild popularity of Guitar Hero: On Tour and its sequel, Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades.
I am waiting for Juice Harp Hero. All these other games are just trash.
To all the people who like DnB but dont like Hip-Hop do yourself a favor slow DnB down to 125 Bpm ( beats per minute ) and you got Hip-Hop,do your homework ladies.
i dont care about those who hate this. i think its a brilliant idea... i mean for me at least, im already mixing and producing my own songs in DJ studios so this game (especially if its online) would be a must-buy for me. period. P.S.: to all those who will curse me and will say bad words at me, im lifting a big finger.
Put the needle to the record and walk this way, DJ Hero.
killed it. lmfao i dont like it.
Harmonica Hero, Cowbell Hero, and Beatbox Hero all due out this Christmas, lol.
You have got to be kidding! Might have made something cool like trumpet hero that would have been better could have at least played some Ska-music. Oh well plus if they don't have the Prodigy it's just not worth it.
Electronic music SUCKS! Except if you have a girl rubbing against you but I doubt this game comes with it.
This better have some Dj Shadow samples.
@articofox8 since "you" dont know anybody who wants to be a dj means that nobody else wants to be one? I know a lot of people who aspire to be djs, who have bought the equipment to do it and dj at house parties. Becuz its something that you arent interested in doesnt mean the other 6 billion+ ppl on the planet dont. I actually care more about this one than Guitar Hero i mean... who in life wants to aspire to be a rockstar? nobody i know.
Why don't they stick to what the people want? How many people aspire in life to become a DJ? None that I know. Its basically turning into a joke, and unfortunately this is only the beginning.
@dylan417: Oh there will be more.......... there will be more............
I can't wait for Recorder Hero! (end of sarcasm). I bet the people at Harmonix are laughing their heads off. I wish Harmonix was still developing Guitar Hero.
Now all we need is a mic and we can make rap hero for the wii
"Gimme Piano Hero and my life will be complete." The best idea I've every heard.
hero games died once activision took over... done ripping off and simplifying konami games yet?
Well I guess they r trying to get every dollar they can
Gimme Piano Hero and my life will be complete.
Bah, so when are they going to make Harpsicord hero?
So....is this goign to be like beatmania or what?
Common, huryy up and make jaw harp hero!!!
This better come with some good decks
STOP milking it!
Great news! I always wanted to be a DJ! -.-
@ da_illest101 By your logic, the music in GH = crap? Layoff the glue, buddy.
activision is getting to desperate with music games if you ask me, guitar hero 5, guitar hero greatest hits, guitar hero metallica, now dj hero? come on activison, you cant release 4 music games in one year!
Personally I am looking forward to Mime Hero on the wii.
Also we will see Weed Hero instead of Heroin Hero)
@ scar4ever: Shhhh... don't give them more ideas.

Woo, GH for the chavs...*rolls eyes*
Activision is gonna make the word "Hero" a word I really hate
Totally and utterly retarded.....or is it a brilliant ploy to milk money from the young brainwashed G'd-out masses? A game where the player uses a fake controller to imitate fake music....AWESOME! I wish guitar hero/rock band would have never been created. I wonder if this game comes with a plastic grill and a cap gun to put in yo pants.
scar4ever, I agree with you. My favorite genre happens to be reggaeton, but i would shoot myself if they ever tried to make something to an extent of reggaeton. I will admit wondering if they woudl ever release bachata songs for guitar hero, I mean many people would not know what it is, but i come from the south bronx,NYC and i know plenty of people who would actually buy it. I tink the main problem though is that there really no use for drums in bachata, but it would be hott if they release aventura DLC
someone should make school shooting hero
I never look at a DJ in a club and say to myself, " Man, that guy is mixing other people's music really well!"
ihacker, this game will create about as many wannabe DJs as... um... dude, I don't think you have to worry... :P
When is Heroin Hero 4 going to be released?
otanikun, agreed whole-heartedly. Problem is they're either greedy with money driven aspects, or they have employers that are saying "You NEED to make this next, because this is on OUR agenda." GH's high point to me was GH3, which is why I got that game. Then Rock Band cornered the market and made their name big. As far as this economy will go, I see no upward shots in sales with these new Guitar hero spin-offs or continuations...
This will suck badly. If someone ends up making a Reggaetton Hero, I will commit suicide...
I'm crying on the inside, why? Why I ask you, why? Even though I refuse to acknowledge it's existence, it should have been a DS release if anything, I mean how many people have seriously aspired to be a MC like this? This series is just growing too large for it's own good and eventually, they're going to kill their own niche audience and leave Rock Band the sole surviving game besides those rip off games on the internet like FoF. At first I thought this was just a silly rumor that sprang up last year, I just passed it off as an early April fools joke; but now that it's been confirmed I'm very sad. They need to stop while they're ahead and either create something wholly memorable or just let the series die, especially if they keep this stuff up; I wouldn't be surprised if I saw another Guitar Hero sequel, with the exception of Metallica, next week and the week after that. I loved this franchise, now they are killing my fandom with it, either upon the release of this silly little game or it's next half baked sequel, I'm jumping off of this tired band wagon.
"The popularity of dance music is low right now, so this game would help spread good music to people who normally choose to be ignorant." Ignorant, huh? Why, because they don't like your preferred genre of music? A bit of a misguided statement to put it lightly.
The DS touch capabilities make it even more of a given for a DJ Hero spin-off. They've got my interest with the concept, but I'm skeptical on whether this will be something I really want to play. _
Oh well, let's see how this pisses Konami off ... maybe activision will be slain by our dear Konami mascot ... Solid Snake!
Time to get started on my album, and save the world.
Konami will sue
Get over it guys. It's just a video game. Anyone who is registered with this website knows that. You know this doesn't even come close to the real thing. Stop whining.
this would be pretty cool but it seems they are trying to milk the brand for all it's worth.
Well I'm a Rock Band fan primarily but I remember how all this got started (japanese titles notwithstanding) was with a couple of games called Frequency and Amplitude and that was a lot more dance related music and simply using your controller. And that sh!t was fun. I was never even that good at it but I had a blast playing it. If it's done right, the music is great and the interface is intuitive...there's no reason this couldn't be a good game. I'm not EVEN trying to be a DJ and I'd be willing to give it a try. Don't get me wrong though, I have a feeling if this thing sucks it's going to suck BAD. Oh, and I'm definitely getting Playboy Hero.
stupid, if you ask me.
