I am not complaining but perhaps they should get some more dance oriented songs, its only a thought and my opinion.
Activision lets first details of mixing-game's lineup slip; 90 artists promised, new freestyle and party modes teased.
DJ Hero 2 will have a range of new multiplayer modes, freestyle gameplay, and full microphone support, Activision said today. The megapublisher also said that the rhythm game will feature over 90 pop, dance, and hip-hop artists among its lineup. These will include Metallica, Kanye West, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and The Chemical Brothers. The artists will provide more than 70 tracks between them.
Speaking about the new gameplay, Activision said it would feature, "freestyle scratching, cross fading and sampling." On top of the new creative options, the company also revealed that DJ Hero 2 will feature a new single-player Career mode, in which players works their way up from struggling DJ to media mogul.
Multiplayer in DJ Hero is also getting something of a makeover. Several new multiplayer modes are promised, including DJ Battles and Party Play. Party Play will feature vocalists with "integrated onscreen singing and rapping of lyrics and rhymes."
The game, which will be out "this autumn," will come in a variety of bundles. This includes a "party in a box" set that comprises a copy of the game, two turntables, and a microphone, as well as a single-turntable bundle and a version without accessories.
DJ Hero 2 was first confirmed in January by Activision CEO Bobby Kotick. While the critical reception for DJ Hero was generally positive, sales were disappointing, though Activision claimed it was the most successful new intellectual property of 2009 in terms of revenue.
I see lots of people are complaining about metallica being on this, whats the big deal, you can mix any type of music...
I'm DJ. (most of my colleagues) have awesome PC!! it's not one but two!! but why they put on Consoles only!! it's B.S.!! damn amateur console gamers!! ;)
Lady Gaga is gonna be in DJ Hero 2? that's a joke! I don't want to play songs with Paparazzi or Poker Face. now someone suggested Deadmau5. that would be an awesome choice. more Daft Punk, more Tiesto, how about the Alive 2007 version of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.
they should put in the xecutioners , beat junkies , the allies , invisble skratch piklz , dj revolution just to name few not some of that BS ... but whatever sells more will be in i think , they disrespecting the art imo by some of their track selections
As an amature DJ, it is possible to mix heavy meatal, hard to do but possible, I once did Enter Sandman with another track, and threw a fluke it worked out great. As for Lady Gaga, I say NO, I been wanting a game like this for a while, but refuse to support it due to a fair chunk of the track selection.
If Metallica's in the new DJ hero, does that mean the next Guitar Hero will have Snoop and Dre? Just because you have someone's music licensed really doesn't mean you should just throw it in whatever music games you can cram it in. Oh well, I pretty much gave up on Activision making sense a long time ago. Maybe they'll actually put out a decent game before they lose all their fans, but I doubt it.
Metallica + DJ Hero = Does not compute!!! And should GS know better than to put Dr. Dre and Metallica in the same sentence as Lady GaGa?!?!? Her music is crap, and she's fugly. This Metallica thing is really bothering me though. I know they did that song with Swizz Beats a while back, but DJ Hero???
@laptop 1 decent song won't save the game, you will have to sort through the rubbish. As I said, the only way to please everyone is to make a level creator and let people upload their own mixes with their own music and everyone can find something they like. I for one like Hardcore, DNB and hard dance, but no way a game full of that will sell. Others here like electro/house, but again it can't warrant a whole game. Let us make the mixes!
eh hello, i see everybody always yelling Metalica and Lady Gaga, but are you BLIND?? there is Chemical Brother there, if Daft Punk is a 10, Chemical Brother is a 9.9. This game will make you feel very high with Chemical Brother beat, turn the volume out loud, maximum the bass and do it again
Metallica and DJs go together like Yani and Ozzfest, ice ballet and MMA fights, Sir Mix-a-lot and square dancing. I mean when i hear the word "Metallica" plastic turntables isnt the first thing that comes to mind.
I have to be honest..I'm getting this one too. I hope the Career Mode will be great, and all the features they're putting in will actually be worthwhile.
I wonder if the turntable will be the same or a new model...would hate to think I wasted money on an outdated model (even if could use some improvements).
WOW I didnt know that Metallica was a pop band. Know all we need is Iron Maiden and AC/DC to join DJ Hero 2 to fully reliase that Bobby Kotick has lost his mind.
I'm a bit on the fence about Metallica being in this game, but if it's a Bassnectar's remix of "Seek & Destroy" then I say gimme more! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REUALPpHHYc
no times arent tuff for metallica they got screwed by activsion and activision can do anything with their music for so many years. know what your talking about before you speak DaSlyOne
I still think the first game is worth a purchase, I have not regretted buying it one bit. It's such a different experience than Guitar Hero from the music to the atmosphere. Not to mention it's extremely fun.
I hate you activision, but I did like the first game. The new additions sound good. But I still hate you.
Its too bad this game hasn't been more successful. It seems to be blamed for the excesses in the GH games, which is unfair. The music is excellent and the visuals are great (the blatant in game advertising notwithstanding). I'm not a Metallica fan, but then again part of the appeal the game is getting exposed to new music. I'm looking forward to this.
activision got there genres mixed up, metallica what :o and lady gaga aka auto tune tranny who can't sing. her stupid fame and advertisements.
@ttime 32 I thought the same thing but there was a great rendition of Sanitarium performed by Limp Biskit at the MTV Icon show honoring Metallica a few years ago and it was awesome. Not sure what Activision has in mind, but something like that could be cool.
Wow as I read down in these comments, I feel kinda disappointed in this community. Is there ever going to be a time where people will just get off the bandwagon of music hating and just listen and enjoy music? I don't see why people bash and hate on music they dislike and ruin it for people who actually do. Grow up! Most of you guys won't even buy this game sheesh! People have different preferences when it comes to music, either praise it or let it be.
Another rubbish line up like the 1st one. I would have picked up the 1st one (or this one) if the line up was good because I could really get into the idea of it. But they don't even come close to catering to my tastes in music, just generic pop and hip hop. How about some Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hard Dance? Maybe some DNB? How about ANY song that hasn't been in the top 40? My suggestion is to let people upload their own tracks and watch the sales fly, it's the only way to cater to everyones tastes that may have an interest in the concept.
Why put Metallica on DJ hero? It just makes me cringe thinking of what all these little hip hop pop fanboys will do to a metal masterpiece written by Metallica.
YES! Lady GaGa...just what I wanted. Now if I could just have some dubstep DJ's or actual DJ's please. Richard Humpty Vission, Diplo, Rusko, Sinden, Modeselektor, Major Lazer, Excision, 16bit, Dj Dero, DJ Jean? Maybe some Fatboy Slim...the list goes on and on!
