Digital Chocolate touts first games
Mobile game developer debuts a baseball and puzzle title for BREW-enabled handsets.
After months of speculation, startup Digital Chocolate has unveiled its debut games. Two titles were announced: Bubble Ducky, which is a puzzle game, and Baseball Heroes of the MLBPAA, which will feature Major League Baseball stars from the 1970s and 1980s.
Announced earlier this year, Digital Chocolate is the current project of Trip Hawkins, founder of Electronic Arts and, more recently, the 3DO Company. Digital Chocolate made waves last week when it secured an additional $13 million in financing.
Initially, Bubble Ducky and Baseball Heroes of the MLBPAA will only be available on BREW-enabled mobile phones. Eventually, both will make their ways to the more widely supported J2ME platform. No carrier partners were named in today's news.
"We're developing products to satisfy the desire of people who want entirely new experiences from their mobile phones, not a tiny TV or a mediocre game machine," said Hawkins in a statement. Since founding Digital Chocolate, Hawkins has repeatedly claimed that mobile handsets "are the first truly personal computers." Today's announcement marks the company's first attempt at delivering on that potential.
