Early DLC???? that was it?? that was it???, at least gave us a free DLC or make Battlefield 1943 free for PS3
Developer says early release of expansions replaced the previously announced Battlefield 1943 pack-in as the Sony platform bonus for Electronic Arts' military shooter.
At Sony's Electronic Entertainment Expo media briefing in June, SCEA president Jack Tretton announced PlayStation 3-exclusive bonuses for a trio of multiplatform Electronic Arts games. One such enticement was that every PS3 copy of the DICE-developed first-person shooter Battlefield 3 would include a copy of 2009's downloadable Battlefield 1943 on the Blu-ray disc.
Battlefield 3 officially launched yesterday, and as observant PS3 owners might have noticed, that bonus is nowhere to be found. DICE explained the absence yesterday with a post on the game's official Twitter feed, saying, "In lieu of 1943 being available on disk for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to PS3 customers."
Last month, EA announced that all Battlefield 3 add-ons and map packs would launch on Sony's hardware one week before appearing on the Xbox 360 or PC. That includes the Back to Karkand expansion, expected to launch later this year. The pack features multiplayer environments from the PC-exclusive Battlefield 2, such as Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and the Sharqi Peninsula, all updated for the Frostbite 2 engine.

Don't think of it as getting DLC before everyone else, which is what it's not. Think of it instead as EA getting your hard earned cash before anyone else's, which is what it is.
Its a $10 game...like honestly how many of you would have ACTUALLY played it? I'm almost sure you're all more mad that they lied than what they actually lied about xD
This blow , what if you didn't get the limited edition ? Then your paying for the privilege of playing the DLC 1 week early? I would rather have a free game then get dlc early , especially if I have to pay for the dlc .
@anthonycg i know where your coming from, but its not that people believe everything they hear. its more of the fact that people still take these big businesses at their word... they inspect integrity from these companies but dont realize that greed kills integrity
@9Dguy hey if you buy this I'll give you something extra with it, no charge. *Okay great deal* There you go.. *where's the "extra" item?* Yeah.... sorry. Some people bought the game because of the deal - it's called bait-and-switch.
Are you guys really complaining about not getting 1943? Alright it would have been a cool addition but getting all the DLC a week early is definitely more important. You can't complain about not getting an extra present, we still got one, appreciate it.
@WolfGrey Are you serious? I'm not stupid. PS3 has had a ton of great exclusives over the past few years but unfortunately developers tend to program on Xbox and port to PS3 making a lot of PS3 games inferior to the Xbox ones. Microsoft pays a lot smaller developers to put their arcade games on Xbox before PS3. I'm not saying PS3 isn't amazing but I personally believe its the better system, I'm just happy developers are finally starting to realize it has more potential than the Xbox. Btw, I don't own Halo or Gears though I do own CoD and if you'd assume some is ignorant for owning any of those games I'm almost sure you are. Those are three of the biggest gaming franchises out there and if I had an Xbox to go with my PS3 I'd probably own all three.
And EA wants us to buy more games through Origin... yeah right. Thank you, but we have Steam, GOG, D2D and many more.
Wow! 1 week early DLC vs. a $10 game we were promised months ago would be on the disc. Probably the most impressive bait and switch of this century so far. I demand the thieves at Sony and EA make BF1943 free to download for all PS3 owners. Anything else would be uncivilized.
I dont quite understand why people keep blaming EA/Dice and Sony. I totally get the blaming EA/Dice part but Sony didn't really do anything, EA/Dice broke their promise not Sony.
@ infamousphilithy, looks like ur the damn fan boy here dude, hahahaaaa ur rants for how dice has "failed" keeps goin n goin on the comment page, u stick to COD which has NOTHIN NEW in terms of gameplay elements and does nothing to push the fps genre further, seriously dude ea or dice might have failed in terms of this offer but the game is still bloody sick, iv been playin the multiplayer for hours now n i can tell u it definitely met my expectations, so do me a favor u troll and jus comment on COD when it comes out u fan boy XD
I guess the use of Jay Z's "99 Problems" for the BF3 commercial was appropriate in lieu of this situation.
EA, good job fooling your customers. Guess we'll have an offer like: "Free copy BF3 to all users pre ordered Mass Effect 3" in the future, eh? No thanks, big liar!
Ok i didnt even know about the free game. Had i known i wouldve bought it 4 the PS3. Had i bought it 4 the PS3 i'd b PISSED rite now. That is definately false advertising & maybe bait & switch. Either way they're getting sued. I dont c EA getting out of this 1. & if they do, then the court system was paid off cuz this was deliberate. There's no way this was an accident. So yea every1 who feels like they been screwed over, do something about it. Im mad 4 u guys rite now.
Not the first time EA has done stuff like this and people are really suprised? Come on, EA has been screwing people over for years. Also what is the point of releasing a game when the servers arent even up for it?
i just bought bf3 but i cant find the place to type in the code for the multiplayer! does anyone know??? I think it is on the store section, but everytime I click it they tell me nothing is there:(
They could rectify this situation by offering BF1943 later on as FREE DLC, even for a limited time. The question is: will they?
BF1943 Sucks anyway...I dont know why anyone would bother playing it as it is just a cut down version of BF1942
Dice and EA win zero friends by doing this. Lying to customers is just about the worst corporate practice out there. They promise something for free, and then say instead you can just buy some DLC early? That's not a fair deal.
sometimes I am happy that I used to ripoff major developers like EA with tons of downloaded games. Anyways it looks like they are going to ripoff me now :(
wow they fooled all the ps3 gamers by completely turning around cancelling the main driving force of preordering a bf3 on the ps3. i wonder who's fault is this?
Having both an Xbox360 and PS3, the free Battlefield 1943 was the main factor in choosing the PS3 version over the Xbox version. Now that I find out about this, I'm probably going to cancel my order.
I believe false advertising is illegal in most countries, I smell a lawsuit coming on. Now gamers have a perfect example why pre-ordering games is not a good idea if Sony/EA can get away with this deceitfulness. But if its good enough for them its good enough for us as Batman AC (which unfairly forced all offline gamers to miss out on 10% of the game) has already been cracked and gamers are enjoying free copies (although obviously illegal) and it won't be long until BF3 meets the same fate, the saying "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" comes to mind.
It was an incentive to preorder so there is obviously foul play here. Personally I was not affected since I never preorder. If I want a game that badly I'll just buy it on amazon the day it comes out with same day shipping allowing me to get the game before people that preorderd and for less money... Besides I don't believe in the words of any company. Their number one priority is to make money not friends so why should I believe anything they say that isn't bound by contract?
And with this mindset I never find myself in the same situation as these people that are complaining. But people like to believe everything they hear so it's going to keep happening. I can't wait for the BF3 Platinum Edition complaining.
I personally do not care about a free content on the disc such an old copy that most of the BF fan series already have anyway... a copy of BF1943 it's so tuesday..However, they (EA/SONY) shouldn't NOT make that type of advertisement without a follow through. F***LIARS!
So, I won't be gaining anything, since the Xbox and PC add-ons will be out by the time I pick this game up? Screw you DICE. Screw. You.
@ InfamousPhilthy You need to calm down, both series are great. Besides a game that came out in 2009 is a horrible bonus for buying a game that was released in the year of 2011.
Keep moving the goalposts and people won't even bother to kick the ball in future. Yeah, metaphors are good.
the dlc is a better bonus then a psn game from 2009...well i already have it so my view may be tainted
But honestly, Who is complaining about this. Your getting early access to a DLC pack that undoubtedly you would be spending more time enjoying then BF 1943
Now this is a new low, even for EA. Talk about a bait and switch to try and bump up the PS3 sales. So they promise BF1943 with PS3 pre-orders and had already announced DLC coming early to that platform, now they pull the BF1943 and say "Oh we are giving you early DLC instead." Well since they already announced the early DLC for PS3, they really aren't substituting it - they are trying to justify their bait and switch after the fact. As an Xbox owner, I was a little peeved at all the PS3 deals that EA was giving out but this kind of crap (outright lying) really pisses me off and I don't even own a PS3. There was probably something going on behind the scenes that put the kibosh on the deal, like possibly even Sony not ponying up enough money in the end for the exclusive deal. Hope all you PS3 owners opted out of the class action clause (yes EA has one of those too) so you can sue their asses off for false advertising!
Didn't get around to pre-ordering BF3 Limited Edition and now I'm kinda glad I didn't. Total douche move by EA. With so many quality titles just released and more around the corner, it'll be quite some time before I pick up an FPS. Man, never thought I'd say that! :?
@Elrax Oh right, I guess I misunderstood it. It wasn't very clear about that... Still, one week is nothing.
@InfamousPhilthy It's not a "fumble", Battlefield 3 delivers where it counts, multiplayer. I've yet to see a review where anything bad has been said about it. It's the campaign bringing the score down. The reviews are far from terrible though, funny thing is if like MAG and Counter Strike they hadn't have included a campaign, the scores would be higher. Besides, a review is one persons opinion; everyone's will differ. As for 1943, it's a good game but a lot of Battlefield fans already. As for those who don't, 1943 was good but I don't see anyone playing it over Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 3 personally. Free DLC is much better.
How does EA go from trying to destroy Activision, to making a complete FUMBLE on BF3. The reviews are not great. PC version got an 8.5 BF2 was better. How will you explain this one BF Fanboys!!!
@samsta2 I'm confused about what you said. I have BF3 LE for the PC and when I read the pamphlet you get with it for Back to Karkand, it said you get it for free and get notified when it's out. So PS3 players will get early access it regardless of preordering or not.
