Limbo is an extraordinary game. So simple and yet so beautiful. I have very high expectations from Playdead now.
Playdead-developed puzzle platformer Project 2 (working title) headed to PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac.
Copenhagen-based developer Playdead, creator of 2010's critically acclaimed side-scroller Limbo, has begun work on its next game, tentatively titled Project 2.
According to the Danish Film Institute's website (which can be viewed in English), Playdead's next title is a puzzle platformer adventure for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac.
Listed as having a budget of £1 million ($1.55 million), the game will follow the adventures of a boy as he does battle with evil forces through "puzzles and changing scenarios." The game will be in colour and will be set in a 3D environment; however, according to the site, the gameplay will take place in 2D.
In November last year, Playdead revealed that Limbo crossed the one million units sold mark, across the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Limbo puts players in the shoes of a small child who must find his way through a black-and-white world, filled with puzzles and dangerous, often deadly, obstacles. The game won critical acclaim upon release, which was followed by a small avalanche of award nominations that yielded multiple Interactive Achievement Awards and a Game Developers Choice Award.
this game will be good, maybe similar to limbo (never played it but seen game play) but you have to expect that as its made by the same person, gamespot said the new most wanted feels like burnout paradise, same situation, doesnt necessarily mean the game wont be good
I know limbo is a place were souls are trapped till they are decided where they are meant to go to or something.....so why are there dead bodies in there?!
I was hoping they could develop the same for handheld ... i don't really like playing side scrollng games other than in handheld.
Yeah, why don't we all just tentatively judge the first screenshot of the game by calling it a 3D limbo?
i liked Limbo alot. but makes me wish they'd remake Out of this World or Flashback or something similar. those games are so old but still a bit more complex than Limbo.
Ahhh, the memories. Another World remains one of my all time favourite games, from the opening sequence, to escaping from that cage, to coming across the Teleportation device, and that Gun, simply brilliant imagination. I would love to see a revamp of that.
@Gelugon_baat Now now Gelugon, give them credit, it's also in colour!
I do hope there's a substantial difference in gameplay, because this really doesn't sound like it.
@eBentl I fully expect it to be very similar to LIMBO, I mean just look at the concept art, it's identical (but with overlayed color, lol).
I'm not saying that's a bad thing though, I'd definitely buy it if it even remotely resembles LIMBO.
@parkurtommo i haven't played limbo but it looks good, i played a happy wheels version, does that count
@eBentl There's almost no information on it. It's far too early to make that judgement.

@Grovilis Well, there have been plenty of puzzle platformers, I guess, but Limbo had an amazing aesthetic, clever puzzles that ramped up gradually in difficulty, and simple, responsive controls. It hit every note just right, and was a perfect nugget of gaming goodness.
