Dead Space Downfall was rather subpar in terms of animated films. The animation was kinda shoddy, and the dialogue was a little bit dodgy, but the gore effects and atmosphere were great. Oh, and the ending was lame IMO.
Sumo Digital producing interactive comic book with minigames for release this fall on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network.
In March, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter told investors that Electronic Arts was considering a plan to hype big games with what amounted to "very long game demos" that it would sell through downloadable services for $10 to $15. That plan is starting to take shape, as today EA announced Dead Space Ignition, a downloadable prequel to next year's Dead Space 2.
Described by the publisher as "an interactive comic-style story," Dead Space Ignition will play out like a Choose Your Own Adventure narrative with three different minigames. EA is codeveloping the title with Sumo Digital, the studio behind Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, OutRun Online Arcade, and the episodic Doctor Who: The Adventure Games series.
Ignition will serve as a prequel to Dead Space 2, following Isaac Clarke in the hours before the space station known as The Sprawl is beset by a necromorph infestation. The game's story is being penned by Antony Johnston, who previously told stories in the Dead Space universe with a six-issue comic series released in 2008.
Dead Space 2 will be set three years after the events of the original, which saw deep-space engineer Isaac Clarke survive an onslaught of zombielike necromorphs on the deep-space mining ship USG Ishimura. The sequel will see Clarke attempt to purge The Sprawl of its necromorph problem, but this time, he'll do so with a new arsenal of dismembering weaponry.
@AIRWALKTDK666- it had its moments but i just think it lacked a decent animating team. I thought the necromorphs looked really lame and most of the characters seemed a little too over the top. Good story though and really sets it up for the game which is 9.5 in sheer pant browning moments!!!
JaKeYbOy619, they did do a prequel for the original dead space. Its an anime called dead space downfall. Its pretty bad but it fills in all the blanks from the game.
Im not so sure about this whole prequel to dead space 2 they could fiit that into the new dead space game so that spoilers arent revealed before the new dead space release and if they really wanted a prequel to the dead space series then they should do it on the people who were on the USG Ishimura (Before Issac) because that would show how the necromorphs got onto the ship and give more detail into the whole incident. Woops just realised thanks to StevoT81 that there was a prequel i forgot about that
wait they wanna charge people for a demo.......... if im not mistaken wont that lower the sales of the game since less people will play the demo O.o?.
@tonyfutter if it was such an easy problem then can you explain to me why didn't they pirate the system already?
@tonyfutter You need to get your facts right! Only one person was able to hack it but he had to plug computers into he's ps3 so it would work! and due to that aswell ps3 ban installing your own OS! soo stop slaging the ps3 off! if dont even know what talking about!
@tonyfutter PS3 has NOT been hacked it has had the hyperviser dumped and other garp on the way to being hacked but no one has written a custom firmware or any other expolit for that matter that is of any use to joe public. so please stop trying to sound like you know it all cos you clearly dont. Oh and you got a little msg telling you I posted this even though its not a flame its just me saying YOU ARE WRONG mr smartman
@zidan4000 for you information it is possible to hack the ps3 and many people have its just when they connect the hacked ps3 to the psn it locks it off the system turning the consoole into an expensive door stop. i small problem which can be easily overcome. ps i wont be reading this thread anymore so no point in flaming me.
I actually don't like the sound of this - getting some things too early would for me personally ruin the surprise of the main title when it arrives. I'm sure other feel different, but not me.... I'm happy for the system of demos we have now - that's as much early gameplay as I'd like thanks.
pre·quel (prkwl) n. (A literary, dramatic, or cinematic work whose narrative takes place before that of a preexisting work or a sequel) So in fact this is not a a prequal, as it is released before Dead Space 2. It is in fact a prolouge to the new story. I hate the fact that this word is used in the wrong context all the time. Last years Dead Space extraction was a prequal as it happened before the original game, but was made/released after. Please editorial team, you get paid for writing stuff like this so please use a dictionary occasionaly, or maybe just give me a job on the writing staff!!!!
wow ive never seen more pointless ramblings in my life.most of you need to learn how to compose a coherent thought before you post.especially ps3gamer.
@dc337 Ahh, did you even read my post? Thats the damn point i am trying to get across, piracy was always there and it will always will be, yet many developers are selling well, if a game does not sell well, then the problem is the game and not piracy, propably because that game is not working well on pc, propably because it does not have a good fanbase. Yet the developers blame piracy because its and easy way out rather admiting that the problem is their games. Piracy was always there but if you come to think of it pirates never bought games to begin with so their are not part of the actual buyers and you cant track potential buyers. If those companies who blame piracy actually do believe that the reason their games did not sell was because they were mysteriously pirated ten times more than the AAA games that sold well, then they are idiots and ignorant for not reallizing that the problems were their games and not piracy. Besides the ps3 is unhackable and the sales are pretty low, what about that eh? Or should i speak about alan wake nto selling well? Oh let me guess its piracy again and not that the game does not sell. But they dont say anything and try to cover it up because they liked to damage pc's image rather consolers and admit that there is something wrong with their games. Also the profits that are made from a single pc copy are higher from the console version due to the fees devs have to pay to ms and sony. So yeah developers have to make games on pc for profits
DLC is always optional, if you dont think its worth it then dont buy it. if you feel like theyre not giving you a full game and leaving stuff out as DLC then dont buy that game. simple as that. Im a fan of Dead Space so ill be buying this!
@ snake289 Lol - ummm... well, I would guess that the fact that it's 2 "meh" games, means that if it were 2 high profile awesome games the piracy rates would be even higher. Tell you what: the next "high profile" PC game that comes out, be a sport and put the tracker numbers on here, and we'll see how your argument holds up, alright? And I'll verify by checking myself.
im not going to get this bc it sounds like a puzzle type of game idk for sure somebody tell me if im wrong
@dc337 Regardless a PC "piracy rate" will never be truly accurate as Steam does not release its sales numbers. Also any game that requires you to be online can't be so easily pirated. The whole piracy thing is WAY overblown, and is something that struggling developers often hide behind.
@Axelander999 Try actually reading the reviews. Apparently you did miss the explanations. They're in plain text.
@Axelander999 -- If inconsequential things like "which console the news article is linked to" and "which version of the game appears at the bottom of the page" keep you up at night, you may want to consider seeing a shrink. Seriously. Read what you wrote and tell me it doesn't sound paranoid. Also? If you you're so convinced that Gamespot is staffed by biased, untrustworthy "losers", then why do you still come here? There are hundreds of other gaming sites out there. Try Giant Bomb. Or IGN. Or the Escapist. Or etc, etc, etc. Or is trolling your only reason for visiting?
@bowlingotter I must've missed that explanation! Could you please explain it to me, because for some reason I'm just enraged
@Dakan45 It's a well established that most pc games have piracy rates of over 60%. Sorry if reality is too harsh for you.
@ supernaught360 I like how you mention 2 "meh" games which didn't even sell well on the consoles either.
@Axelander999 I'm pretty sure Dragon Age: Origins and FFXIII were multiplatform too, right? I do recall Gamespot favoring the PS3 versions of them over the 360 versions in their reviews. And so quickly you forget that a PS3 exclusive won Gamespot GOTY last year. The opinion of 360 bias here is overblown. GS offered proper explanations for why the 360 versions of many multiplatform games were preferred before, just as they are explaining why many PS3 versions are becoming superior these days.
Heyy Guys I'm Commenting Again Cause My First Comment Was Kinda False !!! Visceral Does Good Work And It's Cool !!!The New Dead Space Is Awesome I Love It !! :D
@Draken_Domingo But All Of The Work And Helps Was From Epic !! :D But Who Cares !! The Point Is The Game Is Awesome Do You Agree Bro ? :D
I believe in equality of chance for everyone despite the system they own. This should be released on the PC as well so that I may play it, when I upgrade it that is. Until then I'm gonna stick with the original version on the console.
Haha Epic Knows How To Creat A Good Game !!! I LOVE This Company !!! It's Awfully AWESOME !!!!!! :X :X This Is Gonna Be A One Special Game For All Players !! ;) :D
Ok...so is it a demo or mini games??? Because there's a big a** difference. Anyways, $10...maybe, no. $15...HELL NO. I'll just watch the comic strips on youtube.
@supernaught360 and those are just some of the trackers available.. heck, i don't even know anyone i know who buys legitimate software.. so yeah, you've got a point there..
@supernaught360 that why if i am a publisher i would only publish games on PS3 because it is pirate proof , it has been almost 4 years now and they are not even close to hacking the system.
@amann4ever; It takes place on a space colony/city. But really? Nothing special for the 360? I don't want to use my Blu Ray Player for gaming.
@dakan45 Lol - okay, right at this minute, there are 5,892 people leeching free copies of Sniper: Ghost Warrior, and 5,732 on Prince Of Persia, the forgotten Sands for PC's. That's a loss of $176,760.00 BEFORE taxes, calculated in American dollars. European countries would be even more expensive because of higher tax rates and adjusted dollars, and I didn't even factor in the average American tax rate. And that's just how many are downloading those games RIGHT THIS MINUTE. To put this in perspective, there are 527 people leeching free copies of Red Dead Redemption on XBOX 360 - the biggest selling game so far this year, by the way. You don't see a problem that much of a loss for the publisher? At those rates, I wouldn't want to put a game on PC either.
I really hate the dismemberment ideal its one of the most creative features in the game but sadly for me one of the most turn offs.. but even if I haven't and will never played it the series looks amazing.
I can say I aint gonna buy it now, but I bet you anything when it comes out I won't be able to resist. Dead Space is awesome.
