Limited-edition version of EA's survival horror space shooter includes replica of Isaac's sidearm, soundtrack, DLC, lithograph; Ignition offered to preorderers.
Dead Space 2 will be one of Electronic Arts' anchoring first-quarter releases when it arrives for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on January 25. Already, the publisher has indicated that the game will receive a limited-edition package, saying as part of the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo that the PlayStation 3 edition would include a Move-compatible version of Dead Space: Extraction.
Today, EA officially announced Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition, and it turns out a free game won't be the only goodie PS3 owners will be getting with their purchase. EA has also confirmed that the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC editions of the limited-edition package will include a replica of protagonist Isaac's plasma cutter. Modeled after the weapon's tweaked design in Dead Space 2, the plasma cutter also features trigger-activated LED lights.
That won't be the only perk, however. Also included in the package will be a redeemable code for exclusive access to the unitology suit and force gun, as well as a lithograph depicting concept art of a necromorph transformation. Lastly, gamers will be offered a soundtrack CD, compiling an hour of the game's tunes and a "Scoring of Dead Space 2" featurette.
Additionally, those who preorder the game at participating retailers will also gain access to Dead Space Ignition, the downloadable prequel that launched this week through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
EA has not yet announced a price for Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of the game.
the PS3 version includes the gun too. it lists it in the description on both gamestop and the ea store and I doubt that ea would have a wrong listing for their own game in their own store (at least I really hope not)
My EB games store told me that the Plasma cutter only comes with the 360 version. I would have preferred to get it for PS3 though. Maybe he made a mistake because I thought the PS3 came with the gun as well.
i realy do hope that the plasma cutter has laser aiming like in the game. i mean MW 2 has a real working night vision.... man i love expansive toys
@ 7h3 h4x3r The gamestop I use said it's for both, though they were pushing me to reserve for the 360. They did the same thing for Assassins Creed Brotherhood when I reserved it before the announcement of exclusive DLC content on the PS3
My local gamestop in montreal tells me the plasma cutter is only with the xbox version!!! Anybody knows if it's true or they're talkin out of their a$$?
Loving the idea of where this game is heading. It might turn into a two dollor whorror eventually, but for now it is a nice original game. Gotta love the plasma cutter for yard work.
Im getting this (seeing as its only 80 bucks and on PC :D) I hope the head of the plasma cutter can turn like its alt fire ingame.
I looked on ebgames and they have this priced as $79.99 if thats the case then I'm sold... great CE for that price...
might be interested in this, are the LED lights just lights or do they give a solid line of blue to the target like the game version. because i for one will want that over a glowing cutter.
The PS3 version gets the Playstation Move Wii re-make Dead Space: Extraction and the rivet gun to use in game. http://www.made2game.com/2010/10/14/dead-space-2-gets-collectors-edition/
Where does one get more plasma once ive run out of ammo for it ?? . . I hope they dont expect me to buy more plasma from Marketplace at 800cr each...
Just to correct this story, only the 360 and PC versions are going to be available with the Plasma Cutter replica, the PS3 collectors includes Extraction and a DLC gun instead, not as well as :( And to those asking, think this has only been officially confirmed for UK so far... If the price is right of the limited edition I may consider getting it. Otherwise I'll get the non-limited edition.
i dont want that dang gun. I just want Dead Space: Extraction & Dead Space Ignition. U mean 2 tell me that i gotta pay extra money 2 get both that comes with other stuff i dont want??? WTH!!!
wow, $80 for wii games in HD......no thanks. I got a Wii why would i need two, and even more so, why would i want duplicated games (entire move library are practically wii ports)........the reason i have a PS3 is because it was not another Wii, DUH!
The Plasma Cutter is one epic weapon... they should have called this the Epic Edition instead of plain old collector's edition!
I'm certainly interested in this. My very own Plasma Cutter!! :P Just hope the price is within my wallet amount ;)
It looks like a nice package there. I really dont get CE anymore though. Last one I got was Arkham Asylum CE. Dont get me wrong if a big game comes out that I really really like and it has a CE and it's a nice collection of items that comes with it; then yeah consider it a buy.
if this is anymore that 100 bones i wont be getting it they better not try 150...is only lights that work on the gun
