First expansion to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim live on Steam; Bethesda says PlayStation 3 version not yet satisfactory.
The Dawnguard expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now available for PC, Bethesda announced today at QuakeCon. The game's first major piece of downloadable content, which was warmly received by GameSpot and has already gone live on Steam, brings new storylines and character customization options to PC dragonborn.
The release date for the PlayStation 3 version of Dawnguard, which was first released as a timed Xbox 360 exclusive, remains unknown. Bethesda commented on its official blog that it is "not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3."
Makes sense, Dawnguard on 360 has some really bad framerate drops in certain areas, particularly Falmer caves. The PS3 base game had a lot of similar issues (at least at first), so Dawnguard on PS3 would probably be a lot worse without a ton of polishing
I hope the PS3 Skyrim fans get Dawnguard soon. I was luckily enough to have bought the 360 version of Skyrim because it was a few quid cheaper though to be honest I was half expecting problems like this down the road.
Going to wait a little longer until I play my Skyrim. In my opinion, it is like a fine wine that gets better over time, and this DLC is such proof!
Bethesda would do well to send some people to a class or something on developing for the PS3. My only real concern was hearing the horror stories coming out about how installing Dawnguard sets off vampire attacks on every town you visit and if you're not careful they kill all named NPCs, leaving towns full of nothing but unnamed guards.
@Lordcrabfood I'm an employed editor, but if this were DLC for another game, $20 would have been a hard sale. I'd have to be sure to get $20 worth out of it.
Fortunately, from what I can tell by playing some of it already, $20 was not unfair. I've seen $10 DLC that wasn't half this good.
If I saw $20 on the ground, I could barely be bothered to bend down and pick it up. What is wrong with you people?? lol
@Lordcrabfood LOL at those that think it's the price. Get a brain
So if $20 is not the issue, why bring it up at all. Get a job, lol.
Wow, stupid people are so annoying unless you are being dliberately obtuse, although I doubt that is the case. The issue is people are complaing about $20 like it is some huge amount of money. If you whinge about $20, find a new hobby.
@Lordcrabfood Well so are you just buying/going to buy it just because it's cheap.
I do not care which COD you last purchased, they all suck. I am not ignoring anything, you are just wrong.
@Lordcrabfood Should have stated. the last CoD I bought was CoD4. Keep ignoring the point though.
Lol, Awwwwwwww come on pumpkin. You are such a revolutionary. Stand up to those big bad corporations, lol. So you actually purchased COD and BF3, LMAO!!!!! You are the one throwing around insults, as lame and boring as they are. It is all about the money little boy and always will be.
@Lordcrabfood I don't care how many childish insults you throw moron. I still wouldn't for 5. Didn't get the BF3 premium package, nor any CoD DLC ever. I didn't even waste my money on Skyrim and I sure as hell won't get this, I know you will though. Yet you still think it's about the amount of money. Talk about reading comprehension.
lol, sheep. So who am I exactly following? As I stated previously i have not yet purchased this product. I realise your reading comprehesion skills are probably quite low so I will make allowances for you. I was simply stating that whinging about $20 is ridiculous. Yes, you would of purchased this if it was $5, so do not lie my little friend. Now off you go to Mommy to ask for that raise.
@Lordcrabfood Nope, still wouldn't for 5. Sorry sheep.
yeah, your problem here is, I have not purchased it, as I am concentrating on other things. You just keep saving up, ask mommy for a raise in your allowance. Like I said b4, if this was $5, you would of already purchased it.
@Lordcrabfood And from your posts I can tell that you don't care about being a sheep and giving money to lazy devs and contributing to the crap games we have today. Good luck with that :)
I only mention a job because anyone that would question spending such a small amount as $20 is either unemployed, has a crap paying job or a tight ass. From your posts I can assume that you are quite unintelligent so i know which category you fall into.
@Lordcrabfood lol you keep mentioning this "job". Sounds like someone who has his parents buy this shitty DLC for them lol
Really??!! Perhaps you should read some of the posts below, if this was $5, would it be an issue for you then. Of course not, do not speak such crap, instead of wasting yoour time on here, go find a better job. lol
@Lordcrabfood The price isn't the issue.....
I am not trolling at all my little friend, I do not understand how $20 could even be a consideration in 2012.
@Lordcrabfood Yeah i knew you were trolling already, fool. Don't make it too obvious now.
It is £14 in the UK, on steam. That is not too bad for a DLC. However it is bug ridden and has issues. So I am not paying any money for more bugs.
It is nice to see them release this DLC as it means they still supporting the PC. Yet of course there latest patch may have added loads more bugs for the CK, I am told.
Give it a few months, Steam will have it on sale. And any bugs would be patched or fixed by the modders.
Bethesda not satisfied with something's performance before releasing it? There's a first.
Guess I know where my $20 is going, now... future Borderlands 2 DLC! :D
Spartan, good use of the F-word there, very impressive. I'm more impressed that the moderators on this site seem to not be around often as before. I've seen a lot of cursing on these boards lately.
I can't believe the PS3 version is being held off even more. At the end of June, I started a new character under the hopes that it would only be a month off from June 26th. Then earlier this week, when I heard news that release dates would be announced, I was so glad I timed my character perfectly for where I wanted him to be when the expansion hit. Now they don't even know when they will release it?
Sorry Bethesda, but fuck you!! I have just lost complete interest in you and your company. I am no longer purchasing this extra content for 20 bucks. You and your lack of dedication to your fan base just sicken me. It was bad enough that M$ got an early release, but having no input as to any release for the PS3 is disrespect. Fuck you, and fuck your games. I will enjoy spending my money elsewhere from now on. We know where your loyalty lies.
PS3 version is expensive to develop,
@TTDog I prefer the PS3 to the xbox. My PC has been having issues and haven't been able to get a new one, so I picked up Skyrim for the PS3 instead. I play games on all systems, and have all systems. Anything else?
That is what happens when you purchase an inferior system, thought you would of been used to this sort of thing by now.
@Lordcrabfood Sorry, but in no way is the PS3 inferior to the 360. If you really think that, then there is just no hope for you.
LOL, Could you please tell me what system/company I am a Fanboy of please? I have problems with all the systems, but that is what happens when you assume. Its a shame you did not grow out of that as well.
Lol the PS3 is inferior to the wii as far as I am concerned. But you enjoy all those delayed dlc's when they eventually arrive that is.

Dawnguard is an atmospheric and enjoyable return to the frigid lands of Skyrim. Just beware the bugs.
