Bethesda not returning to work on earlier expansions until Dragonborn development is finished.
PlayStation 3 gamers awaiting the arrival of the Dawnguard and Hearthfire expansions for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may want to get comfortable. Bethesda said in a blog post recently that it will not return to work on those expansions until development on Dragonborn for the PS3 is finished.
"On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn't want folks to wait longer," the company said. "Once it's ready to go for everyone, we'll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3.
"Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC. Once we have a better idea of release timing and pricing, we'll let you know."
The Dragonborn expansion for Skyrim launched this week for the Xbox 360 at $20. It is due out for the PS3 and PC sometime in early 2013. For more on the content, check out GameSpot's Now Playing feature below.

My wife and I enjoy most of Bethesda games. But, waiting a whole F*$^ING Year is a whole lot of ridiculous. I think as a apology for this they should give both Hearthfire and dawnguard for like 10 bucks. Regardless, They will still make a profit off of the patience of the PS3 populace. Shame we had to suffer so Microsoft can pay out more money.
What I don't understand is why they lie. We all know there using 80%+ of there workers to make Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 4 and there other shitty titles like brink 2 or something. OK we understand its hard to fix but at least tell us whats going on and i think that when the next Bethesda games comes out they shouldn't give it out to Xbox first just to show respect to PS3 players who have to wait.
Man I can't wait! Come on Bethesda at least they'll get shitloads of money when they release it!
1 Like *yawn* Lost interest months ago. If I do bother with it at some point, I'll be buying a used copy of the GotY Edition. The PS3 has existed for 7 years now, going on 8 and Bethesda still hasn't gotten their shit together. How many broken games have they released on it now? I count four so far, and those are just the ones I've played.
It's about time! Finally! I'm very excited to finally play these. And to think I almost bought the 360 version just to get these downloads. I'm glad I waited.

i agree that the whole dawnguard and hearthfire fiasco was indeed terrible on bethesdas part,but i don't dwell on the past and have patience.so if bethesda are going to focus their attention on NEW DLC then that is perfectly okay with me.

3 Like Honestly i think this is just bull shit, i work in the gaming industry and i know that if Bethesda gave a crap we would have received the dlc a long time ago... it has now been over a year since the original release. This smells like Microsoft trying to piss PS3 players off. I own every console and i still refuse to pay for xbox games that are available on ps3 and nothings going to change that.
2 Like While I hate to be the guy crying "conspiracy", it just seems like Microsoft paid them off to not have anything release for awhile. They have had timed exclusives since the Playstation 3 was released and this is getting out of hand. If they could concentrate on actually making exclusive games like Sony tries, they probably would not have to try and sound superior by having DLC first. As it stands, the ball was dropped on the PS3 version of Skyrim and I can't bring myself to even try to play it anymore. I will instead wait for the inevitable "ultimate" edition...where all the DLC will be on ONE disc, for cheaper and most likely will work too. Tired of my game freezing!

@darkdealer could probably go on all day about how wrong you are but I'll just say that knowing they're working on the PS3 DLC is good to know, besides everybody knows the PC version is the best.

1 Like @luis4800 @darkdealer I have a 360 and I don't pay for that crap. I don't play online period. So I get the DLC and I don't have to pay for online :). Not that I care either way I hate MS and would rather support Sony unfortunately I want the full ME series as well as Gears of War. Hopefully next gen I can hop on the sony band wagon but by then everyone will be paying for online. I don't see Sony going this route again. Especially since one of the only things 360 has over Sony is the online services.
1 Like @method115 @darkdealer I used to pay for that crap until I realized I was paying for a game, xbox live to play that game, and internet. ME series is now available at the PSN or PS player could buy their bona fide copy of the ME trilogy at their nearest store.
Xbox has Live and Sony has PS Plus where members could get discounts for games as well as free AAA games every month as long as they have Plus, the discounted games you could keep. If Sony forces the PS Plus services I would have to move to PC gaming or Wii U.
OMG, this is tragic! In retrospect, I'm glad I stayed with the X360 and didn't switch to PS3 when it was (finally) released. I do have a PS3, but I'm only using it for exclusives, like Uncharted, Infamous, etc.

1 Like Dragonborn looks awesome and I admit I'm likely going to break my word never to support Bethesda again, but it's still BS they haven't gotten the other two out. That being said, I hope it isn't a buggy mess on PS3.

What a typical response from an uneducated gamer. How the 360 is superior to you is beyond me. I hope you enjoy your 2 exclusives and paying 60 bucks a year along with the internet you're already paying just to game online. I like the 360 just fine, I own one, but superior?? If you believe that darkdealer hit me up in my inbox, I gotta few unicorns for sale.
Ok, well I won't get my hopes up too high. Made that mistake before. It's all good though, there are plenty of other games to play. Would be nice to have a reason to play Skyrim some more though.

After playing all three the only one that matters is Dragonborn. The only good thing about Dawnguard was the dragon weapons and a few sets of armor. Which was way over priced but Dragonborn was worth every penny. So if I were in your shoes I would want them to get Dragonborn done as soon as possible and not even worry about the other two DLCs at the moment.
@luis4800 I would put your hopes too high, it was a good DLC, but hasn't been their best. Dragonborn is the better one by far so I agree with yerg.
@realiamnot I want to be a Vampire Lord and the only way to do that is by purchasing Dawnguard.
People, dont blame Bethesda.
Instead blame all of the mainstream gamers out there handing millions of dollors to devs and publishers for games like COD and other simpleton/lame games.
Bethesda did not have the luxury of using a current game engine and system for a game like Skyrim. This is why bethesda had to build the ENTIRE game from ground up because no one else (dev/pub) is making great games like Bethesda.
THIS...means that there is GOING to be a huge number of problems with the game. If comes with the territory. PS3 is hard to develop for and is even more so for a game like Skyrim...you knew the risks before you got a PS3.

1 Like @luis4800 @Skyrim25 There's no risk what so ever buying a ps3, but it is not a secret that it is a pain to develop games for it since it's developer's kit is not user friendly. Bethesda had close to no experience with developing games for ps3, which is why we see countless of bugs in their previous imported games for the ps3, such as Fallout 3 and Oblivion. So perhaps it is a risk to buy a ps3 game from Bethesda, but there's no risk at buying the console.
2 Like Well my fellow PS3 owners, just think of it as this way: At least we'll be getting an exclusive DLC (or get one before the others do) on Far Cry 3. And to top it off... Ubisoft was able to get it done! lol

1 Like @huerito323 I'll play a crappy version of a Bethesda game anyday. I have enjoyed my gaming experiences aside from the early skyrim freezing days and the lack of DLC. It is still an excellent system that has its shortcomings.
I already have Skyrim on my 360, but have been patiently waiting to buy the GOTY Edition on PS3. Looks like the wait will be a little longer. Still, after buying the Witcher 2(which is awesome), I have no intention of buying any more 360 games. On the plus side, I will have likely forgotten most of what I did my first 150 hour playthrough of Skyrim. So by the time a GOTY version comes out it'll be like a whole new game, plus all new add-ons. Sucks that it's taking so long though.
@roosteraxe1 You have far more patience than I do, Kudo's, I put 116hrs into Skyrim PS3 before the "fix". After that I sold my copy online. Rented it on 360 and was so discouraged the first time I pulled up my empty map that I took it out and never played it again.
