Darksiders to usher in New Year, apocalypse
E3 2009: THQ dates Vigil Games' end-of-times action adventure title for January 1, 2010.
LOS ANGELES--Some number-obsessed people believe the world is going to end in December 2012. THQ is a little less optimistic, as the publisher today announced in an E3 webcast that the apocalypse actually begins January 1, 2010.
That's the release date for Darksiders, the publisher's new action adventure game that casts players as War, first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. When a war breaks out between heaven and hell, War is (understandably) accused of sparking the conflict, and soon finds himself fighting both sides in his attempt to clear his "good" name and get revenge on those responsible.
THQ has high hopes for the title and is already planning on a sequel. In a February investor's presentation, the publisher listed Darksiders 2 on its release calendar for its fiscal 2012 (which runs from April 1, 2011, to March 31, 2012).
Darksiders will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For more on the game and the rest of THQ's lineup, check out GameSpot's continuing coverage of E3 2009.
Looks great but looks can be deceiving. I'll definitely put this on my list of probables but wait until I know more about it before biting.
this game in 2010 that game in 2010 IM TOO IMPATIENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2009!!!!
this game wont be that good i predict
Wow next year,im not even thinking about this untill december.Just make sure its hot and just keep adding and adding stuff.Never stop untill its like 4 disk lol.
In the next game you should play as death, 'cause he's so much cooler than war.
Fantastic...............
@ shkar ... nobody said 2012 is the end of the world. That's just when the Mayan calander ends... so people started to assume it's the end...
Yea i read an article on this game like a year ago & havent heard anything bout it since. Im lookin 4ward 2 this game & i really hope its successful & is a good game. This game looks very interesting.
I'm glad THQ finally announced a release date for the darn game. i've been asking them on their forum at the website when the game was gonna come out. I'm glad it'll be in January. it'll give them plenty of time to work on the graphics and controls. cause i'm looking forward to this, God of war 3 and Dante's Inferno
i got to play this at comic con last year and i was very happy with it, this is one game i am really excited about,
unpolished reminds of that game that was in a 10yr dev cycle.. was supposed to be released on n64 n when got released next-gen got like 5/10 all around.. see, I forgot the name already
There's so many other games. I'll gladly play those and let this one gets the polish it deserves.
wow, i didn't think it would take that long to be released. hope it's worth it...looks good. bayonetta looks better tho.
to shkar: the mayans, nostradomus, and a couple of other civilizations that are too small for me to remember predicted a massive disaster during the year 2012. but if the apocolypse is anything like darksiders, it might be worth it :D
It looks awful, in more ways than one.
seems a long time to wait shame
Jan 1st...sweet :D

hmmm, big sword and guns...anyone else thinking devil may cry?
SICK!!! Man gave me goose bumps, can't wait
jowzxiii this game is multiplatform.
JowzXIII, this game was announced years before Dante's Inferno.
@JowzXIII, this has nothing to do with Sony. Both Darksiders and Dante are multiplatforms games made by 3rd parties (THQ and EA respectively). I'm not sure I could point exactly what, but for the moment Darksiders has a little edge over Dante for me. However, I think that both have great potential.
Sony is really getting into the "Hell, Bible" theme huh? first Dantes inferno now this?! ive gotta buy myself a ps3 even if its used!.
just like the others, i just hope its fun when released =D
I really liked the trailers for this game
holy crap how many times will this game be delayed. it was supposed to be out late last year then this year now next did they start over or something
Been looking forward to this since it was announced. I'm not expecting it to re-invent anything, but I just want it to be a fun game.
Can't wait for this game...
This game looks like a lot of fun, but they're already planning on a sequel? This game better be a full story on it's own because I hate how so many game ends on a cliffhanger...
agreed
i cant wait to play this game. or watch someone play it. me likey syle.
I am going to buy every copy.
