THQ sequel to last year's apocalyptic action game depicts the end of the world from the perspective of Death instead of War.
Gamers can get ready to saddle up as a Horseman of the Apocalypse once again, as THQ today confirmed that Darksiders II would arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC sometime in 2012.
The publisher included few details about the game in its announcement, but did specify that the game would follow the horseman Death instead of the original game's protagonist, War. Darksiders II will tell a parallel story to the original instead of continuing on from that title's conclusion. In the game, Death will attempt to clear War's "good" name (he's accused of starting the end of times ahead of time) and save humankind in the process.
As for gameplay specifics, THQ said that Darksiders II will feature "a dramatically larger world." Along with the larger world, the publisher is planning to give players upgradable equipment, new enemies, and bigger dungeons.
Although this is the first time details on Darksiders II have been divulged, the game's existence is no surprise. The original Darksiders had been on store shelves barely a month when the publisher publicly penciled in a sequel to the apocalyptic action game.

I'm a little disappointed that this is a parallel story. Still, I enjoyed the first so I'll be watching this one.
Played Darksiders and liked it. I knew they ripped off stuff from other games, but I didn't realize how bad it was until I started playing God of War Collection. It's almost criminal how much they ripped off of GOW2. I really hope they can put more original ideas in their sequel.
I'd like to see less puzzles and more action this time around. It just never made sense to me to see a Horsemen of the Apocalypse pushing blocks around. Less Zelda, more Heavenly Sword.
Finally some news about this one! Looks excellent so far. I wonder if War will return or if each subsequent game deals with a different horseman (thus can be assume 4 Darksiders games or more in total)???
THQ and it's studios are doing a good job in the latest games, Red Faction Armageddon semms to be BEAST, Homefront was good, UFC 3 is entering the ring, Darksiders is gonna be hellish, haha, i mean, very good...... and what I'm expecting most: Metro:Last Light (some news say that it will have the best graphics of all time). Cheers :)
I lvoed the first one, except for a few flaws, like some of the dungeons were layed out poorly. The game can only get better.
THQ's Vigil Studio should improve a lot, especially on graphic department, Darksiders 1 graphic sucks :(
Wanted to get Darksiders but never got around to it. I guesss now would be the perfect time to get it.
well i was kinda hoping to play with the 4 horsmen as like each one haves his own battle / stage well cant say i am not exited :)
@DBZKING1234 @cayne_phoenix @TeenGamer92 The first ends in showing that the other three Horsemen were called, and if you research the true story of the Horsemen, this means that only now the apocalypse is real! I think you all know that too, but my point is, the story should continue right after that. Each Horseman has its specific powers, and they could make 4 different story lines, so the replayability would be great( maybe in that way they can't make open world I think -.- not cool though). Or they can make just like Gears of War co-op. Well, there's plenty of things to do following the same story, like, now they want revenge, so they will destroy Heaven and Hell. For those who watched the TV series Supernatural, they have good ideas of what is to fight against both sides. They can make you experience all the 4 horseman during specific missions, or you will choose which one you want to play in each level. I just hope Vigil Games stay true, because they have potencial!
I don't agree with this review, this game is awesome! Better than Dante's Inferno and imo better than God of War 3. I'm saying this because I prefer open world games than corridor-oriented games like Dante and God of War. Even if GoW3 has the best graphics, I think the story was a little incoherent e predictable. GoW 1 and 2 are the best! But if you like open world exploration and you enjoyed Devil May Cry fighting style, grab this game!
I see, 1 Horsemen in Darksiders, 2 Horsemen in Darksiders 2. So, Darksiders is a tetralogy after all.
the question all pc gamers should ask ,do we have to w8 till all console player get sick of the game to get a copy ? like the first one ...
WAIT WAIT WAIT we will see only 2 horsemen not all of them ??? & we will play as Death but what about War ???
This is insane. I just beat Darksiders a few days ago, and thought it was exceptional! Since beating it I've been frantically looking for info on DS2, and now this hits? Meant to be. I can't wait.
I hope that there is many and frequent appearances of the other 3 horseman, including War. I also hope that there are scenarios when you can fight with the other horsemen because the end was PHENOMENAL!But, I can hope all I want to. Since the first Darksiders was AMAZING! We have nothing to worry about, they will make one hell of a game.
First one was good but loses some cool points for overly copying every great game in the last 5 years.
Awesome, I was hoping I would hear this bit of news someday, and here it is. Loved the 1st, for anyone who hasnt tried it yet, you should, kind of a mix of GOW and Zelda.
O yeah BABY!!! I flipped out when I saw the ending of darksiders 1 ... can't wait to get my grubby hands on DS2. This game has the makings to be a good series, maybe not as good as GoW (the PS3 exclusive people, not the trigger happy 360 title), but a worthy game nonetheless.
From the perspective of Death, eh? I saw some concept art for Death in a comic I got for pre-ordering Darksiders... I certainly wouldn't mind playing as him for a whole game :P Upgradable Equipment is also nice... But... While I could see War carrying around an entire Barracks of gear, I just can't bring myself to see Death carrying around a Link-esque arsenal of grappling hooks and firearms...
Darksiders is heavily underrated. It will easily go down as one of my favorite gaming experiences from this generation of consoles. Brought back the classic Zelda vibe but had the level of moment-to-moment excitement you'd find in a God of War game. It was mash up of a lot of different titles, and a lot of people criticized it for being unoriginal, but it was a fantastic mash up imo.
Microsoft really KILLED console gaming, there's only a couple of PS3 games i look forward to playing... everything else in console/Japanese gaming has died. PC, FPS or 3rd person shooters have destroyed what i once loved about gaming. The Last Guardian, Uncharted 3, maybe the RE online game, maybe FF13versus... that's all, nothing else... no surprises, no variety of game engines. Plus they are probably behind the funded hacker attacks on Sony, they bribe every other entity on earth, news corporations, web sites.
