Darksiders II Collector's Edition revealed
$100 version of THQ's action game to include life-sized Death Mask, armor and scythe set, digital soundtrack, hardcover art book; Limited Edition also revealed.
Gamers eager to encounter Death on a grander scale in Darksiders II now have a new option to consider. THQ today announced the Darksiders II Collector's Edition for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
The $100 top-tier version of THQ's action game includes a life-sized replica Death Mask, as well as the in-game Shadow of Death armor and scythe set, a digital copy of the game's soundtrack, and the Darksiders II hardcover art book. THQ said the Collector's Edition of Darksiders II will be available only through preorder.
On top of announcing the Darksiders II Collector's Edition, THQ revealed today that all Darksiders II preorders will be upgraded to a limited edition of the game for free. The LE includes the standard retail game, as well as a download code to pick up the game's first single-player downloadable content, Argul's Tomb, when it launches.
The Darksiders II Collector's Edition will also include the limited edition content.
The Darksiders II Collector's Edition is available for preorder in the United States and Canada at GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, EB Games, the THQ store, and "other select retailers." The PC iteration of the Darksiders II CE will only be available through the THQ.com online marketplace.
Darksiders II is due out on June 26. It follows the horseman Death instead of the original game's protagonist, War, and it tells a parallel story to the original rather than continuing on from that title's conclusion. In the game, Death will attempt to clear War's "good" name (he's accused of starting the end of times ahead of time) and save humankind in the process.
Darksiders II has also been announced for the Wii U. THQ expects to launch this version of the game alongside Nintendo's system later this year. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
