Online petition to bring From Software's role-playing game to Nintendo's first HD console reaches 10,000 signatures.
The online petition at Change.org calling on Namco Bandai to bring Dark Souls II to the Wii U is picking up steam. The petition today crossed 10,000 signatures, a marked improvement over the 3,000 it had earlier this week.
The creator of the petition says the Wii U is a worthwhile platform for Dark Souls II for two main reasons. The first, he said, is that the Wii U's GamePad would open up beneficial inventory management options.
The second major reason Dark Souls II should come to the Wii U, he said, is the console's "affordability" relative to the PC and PS3, as well as online fees associated with Xbox Live. Online access for the Wii U is free, with the exception of a 50-cent charge for minors
Dark Souls II will feature a new hero, a fresh storyline, and an "unfamiliar" setting. "Epic battles with gruesome enemies" are promised, as well as a revamped server-based multiplayer mode that aims to "put a distinct Dark Souls II twist on the concept of playing with others."
I am an "Old-School" gamer. I have grown up with NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, PSX, Dreamcast, N64, Gamecube.
I might be a fanboy who doesn't always agree with Nintendo's choices but I am willing to buy the Wii U to show my support and love for them. They are the reason video games are a huge part of my past and the memories I have will never fade.
If you are wishing to see Nintendo fail, go ahead, don't support them. I personally hope they will continue to make games and consoles forever.
I bought a PS3 just to play Dark Souls.
Now I am selling my PS3 to get a Wii U. I will buy whatever console Dark Souls 2 comes out on, but I'd prefer not to have to buy a $400+ Dark Souls 2 machine. That's why I have signed the petition.
If Dark Souls 2 came out on its own console and only played that one game, I'd still buy it. A life-changing video game is hard to come by. Especially if you've been gaming for 20+ years.
Making a version for the wii u would be a huge waste of time and money for Namco Bandai! The only people signing that petition are the ones that own one of the first 2 games, which means they own a ps3 or xbox 360. Which also means those 10,000 signatures are not potential extra sales for Namco because if there was no wii u version, those people would still buy the ps3 or xbox versions anyways on the systems they already own!
Working on DLC would be a better use of their resources.
I only owed a 360 when Demon's Souls came out. I was so jealous, then I got Dark Souls and loved it. When the price came down I got a PS3 for the exclusives and loved every one. I hope this does come out for the Wii U, the more people supporting great games like this the better. That said...
New director? More Straight forward? Sounds like fixing what aint broke, and what really scares me is this sounds like Ninja Gaiden 3, please don't break Dark Souls 2 guys.
Nintendo fans need to realise tht the WiiU like every other Nintendo system wont be getting multi-plats.
Would have been much easier just to buy a 360/PS3... Just sayin.
Especially given the fact that the amount of money you'll spend on a WiiU will be mostly useless in a couple of years time. 3rd party games will have moved on to the next gen, not the WiiU and it's "me-too" catch-up to this gen.
Still don't understand the WiiU, seems to have been released at the most random time ever. I'm not a hater, I just don't understand why Nintendo didn't make the thing that little bit more powerful.. it's going to get annihilated by the next-gen :/
@warhawk-geeby Totaly! The Wii was kinda all gimmick, and no games. I like Nintendo, I really do, but they make the dumbest decisions. The DS was supposed to be all cutting edge and at first there were cool games for it, then it just kinda crapped out and all you could find were games like Barbie's Magic Unicorn Party and Ben10
The petition seems to have stalled around the 14,500 mark. It is clear that there are not enough Wii U owners yet who want to buy the game for the system.
It's fine because of course we can just enjoy the game on our other consoles, So luckily nobody will miss out on this amazing series.
I'll see all you PS3 owners in that version ;-)
well apparently Nintendo is doing something right, because whatever they do....Sony and M$ try to imitate...but that's okaydokey right? riiiiiighttt nyuhhhh uhhhh durrrrr how flattering X )
As i read the forums I see people complain about the hard drive of the WiiU. While I agree that 32 Gb Sucks for current day, this can easily be resolved with an external Hard drive. As well, when the PS3 first came out it had a 20 Gb Hard drive, and a 60 Gb hard drive. The Xbox had a 20 GB hard drive as well. So its not that big of a deal to me as if I want to download games I use my external 1Tb hard drive. I see people complain about how the PS3 bundle has AC3 with it, while WiiU has Nintendoland. Who cares? Don't buy the deluxe. Get the basic and a game of your choice for the same price. Just attach your external hard drive and there is no memory issue. Enjoy your systems that you own and quit complaining about the WiiU. Don't like it, then don't buy it. Problem solved
poor nintendo fangirls hahahahahaha
stick to mario and luigi kids
dark souls are for the major league

@CHROMEFLAMIN @Albaficas Change the record guys. It's getting boring. I read these forums to see what intelligent gamers have to say. Not to read the same mindless garbage from pathetic teenage boys who lack any kind of social skills, and will unlikely ever find a girl that is desperate enough to settle for them. Or, you can maybe try and make some friends, develop some social skills. Maybe crawl out of your musty bedrooms once in a while. I would seriously recommend it.
Everyone seems to start a petition for a Dark Souls port these days. I wish Dark souls II was available for my Android mobile phone.
Half of this article is copy-paste from a previous article about Dark Souls II. Game journalism of high level in GameSpot...
Why would they ever port one of the most difficult games developed for a console that is mainly targeted for children, or families that think that playing video games is a way to spend quality time with their children...?
@lilromeo0606 Because the console itself is built around the idea of being able to play more than childrens games. Try a Wii U, and play a real game on it, then tell me the console isn't open to the idea of revolutionizing game controls.
How about Wii U fans get dark souls 2, and we real gamers get an actual souls game and not some corporate money target
The PC port didn't work out too well. I hope From doesn't do something stupid and spread themselves too thin.
You know, there's a reason these games aren't on the Wii U. Developers who don't want to develop for it probably won't be swayed by a petition.
I seriously hope this isn't the start of some cruel ongoing joke of companies being asked to make games for the Wii U that can't run on the Wii U.
Then while you are at it, make sure it doesn't come out on the PS3 or 360 as well seeing as they are weaker systems
Hope this game actually makes it on Nintendo enterprises. It's bad enough to see "faithful" fans trashing 3rd party games with biased and crude observations because they didn't get released on the current Nintendo console.
Right. 10,000 signatures. Of which 1,000 people own the Wii U. Of which all own a PS3 or 360 already.
those statistics is about right, the wii sold millions of systems, but 10k is about all those who actually play the system who's balls have dropped. I'd day maybe at max a million as the other 99% oft the million people who do just aren't into games such as Demon/Dark Souls
Too bad they can't do a Kickstarter project to get this done...cash up front probably speaks a lot louder than digital signatures.
nintendo has sucked for a long time now. stopped caring after the 64 ran it's course and even then, that system wasn't too great either.
The reasons stated make very little or no sense at all: free online and inventory management are not the reasons for Dark Souls 2. Just say outright, WiiU doesn't have any good games, so we want some ported for it.
all you whiners are just pissed because the WII U doesn't have the graphics of say the PS4, but a little better than PS3....cause they are all shallow impatient little babies...perfect for the games that have all flash and no substance
The best thing you can get about your shiny new Wii U, "beging for videogames" that are unlikely to be ported, thanks to NINTENDO super saving components in hardware policy.Stupid.
