Dark Souls dated for October

I'm hoping this game comes out before my birthday. This would make a very nice birthday present. :)

@blackace Fair enough I respect you have an opinion and I just disagree. You stated yours and I thought I'd state mine. Actually you'd be surprised, maybe you could change my opinion as I like Demons souls but I'm hardly biased to it. Are you saying if we talked we'd both just not listen to eachother or that convincing others of something we believe is impossible? Either way like you said 'nuff said'. I'm just not a fan of uncharted and found it over rated but it's a good game still even if I'd only give it a 8/10

I love both uncharted 2 and demon's souls so there's no point for me to put them head 2 head and see which one is better. :)

Demon's Souls was more frustrating then then anything else. Being frustrated doesn't equal fun or GotY to me. Dying over and over and over again is not fun. It was a good game, but far from being GotY in most gamers eyes.

My favorite part about DS was the little things that made it so hard & unforgiving. Sure it was a pain when you made it through 80% of a level only to die and have to start over at the beginning, but didn't that also make it so much more rewarding when you finally beat it? It forces you to master every fight & obstacle they throw at you making you perfect the area before advancing. This is what most games are lacking these days IMO, gamers should be punished for being bad and rewarded for being good. Too often I feel like I'm just going through the motions with other games and doing stuff that anybody off the street could do. I like to feel like I've earned my progress in a game rather than "just getting there" because I happened to reach the the next advancement in a story. As far as the inability to pause goes, it shouldn't make the game easier but I do feel it will take away from the intense feeling of "you're never safe" that DS had. I liked knowing that if I set my controller down for even a second, a black phantom could invade and take me out. Speaking of this, wouldn't a pause feature disrupt the invading aspect of the game as a whole? I can see it now, as soon as I invade "player x's" world, he puts the game on pause and waits for me to leave...not thanks...

Looks like a great game but I'm glad I don't have to buy games in Japan! $96? Wow!

2011 will be a blast!! Dark Souls, Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Infamous 2 what a line up!! ... .... Too bad mass effect 3 was moved to Q1 2012 but I know it's for the good anyway

Still a few days of vacation that i need to plan, when im 100% certain of the release date; im planing all remaining days then :). might tell my wife to visit her paretns for a week lol

@blackace That is my opinion, just like the gaming sites. Uncharted just didn't particularly have anything of what it was praised for in my opinion. Good characters? All stereotypes and nothing special about them. The best I can say is that they managed a laugh out of me once every 3 hours. Good plot? Not really. Hunt treasure and fight monsters. I can appreciate they interweave a little name dropping of expeditions / famous places but it's still hardly record breaking. Good puzzles? Hell no, unless we like the mindless variety (such as turning a buddha's hands to match a picture). The hand to hand mechanics have been changed twice in two games and they've confirmed it's being changed again, I know people think the game is pefect but if the combat mechanics are so flawed they get changed every game is that not a signal of a problem? My problem is the following; Gameplay - seen better (namely gears of war having tighter aiming and more fluid cover mechanics) Story - seen better (not really hard to beat the simple stories of uncharted but I love a little more realistic dialogue and tension like in metal gear solid 4) characters - not much to praise really. I know some like Chloe and Drake etc, but personally I found it annoying they talked so damn much. A quip every minute just became a nuisance. Anyway yes it is my opinion but I hope your capable of respecting it when it's backed by reason. I could state problems but I can't fit the amount of problems into one post.

Nice so far this is a great year for gaming for me.

Looks pretty awesome. Hopefully they didn't change the combat system to much. The old one was perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Ordered another controller too. This time round I'll make sure to thorw my controller at a pillow instead of the wall :D From Software has to be shaping up as the developer to take over Blizzards title as the best for next gen. EASY!

Hope they add the ability to pause, but where it's a screen separate from equipment, inventory, etc. No pause healing. This ain't Fallout!

I love the original Demon's Souls, but, unfortunately, the online servers are being shut soon. Because of this, I'm definitely getting the 360 version of Dark Souls. At least with the 360 version, the servers won't get turned off.

Sounds like they really listened to what the players wanted, and now that i know its out in october i can happily go put myself in a Coma for the next few months!

That should tell you something. The game need a pause button and a better way to save your progress. Hopefully the sequel will fix these glaring mistakes.

Want to read a guide and you'd just do it ahead of each battle. Uncharted 2 better for goty though? No way. Not even deserving of a nomination in my opinion.

I hope you can pause the game this time. Demon's Souls should not have gotten GoTY however. There are are least 3-4 other games that deserved it way more. Uncharted 2 being one of them.

Looking forward towards Dark Souls. It will be fun, but it will be a very challenging game.

never made it past the first boss in DS, but its such a great game. we need more like these!

I loved the combat in Demon Souls. Very strategic. It really made other games where you just wail on enemies watching a combo meter climb seem stupid. Pulling off a reposte in a hard fight is way more satisfying than a 100 hit combo any day.

Alongside Mortal Kombat this is the game I've been most looking forward to this year.

Beat the first Demon's Souls 5+ times... Can't wait to nerdgasm over the second one! I hope it continues to garner support, it certainly deserves it.

looking forward to playing this in co-op mode with some one but dont know what system to by it for.

@Crash WL October 12 is my Birthday, so I'm hoping for a midnight release on October 11 (which would be Tuesday; the day most new releases come out), so hopefully both of our dreams can come True! I so can't wait for Dark Souls!!! October can't get here quick enough...

Wait so we weren't able to dual wield in Demons Souls? Then what was I doing when I got massacred by a horde of blood thirsty enemies while valiantly trying to hack my way through with two katanas. Anyways, definitely can't wait for this game.
