Dark Knight rises to top of UK Chart
Lego Batman 2 claims the top spot while new release Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor fails to chart.
Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes debuted last week, landing the top spot and beating its predecessor from 2008, which hit the charts at two. Batman knocked FIFA Soccer 12 down one from its Euro-fuelled peak, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier also dropped a single place to three.
Max Payne 3 fell a further place last week, while Battlefield 3 held firm at five. Lollipop Chainsaw fell two places to six in its second week on the chart, while Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games continued its crawl up the chart as the event grows ever closer. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim saw a 15-place rise in anticipation of this week’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard release, while Sniper Elite V2 filled out ninth place, and the dependable FIFA Street sneaked into the 10th spot.
Turning to last week’s new releases, Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings misses out on the top 10 by six places. The third installment in the Steel Battalion series, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, is a notable absence from last week’s chart, missing out even on entry to the Xbox 360 top 40. Mass Effect 3 drops 17 places, a surprising change in light of its upcoming DLC.
Releasing this week is the vampiric Skyrim expansion, Dawnguard, and 2K’s latest shooter Spec Ops: The Line. The chart will also likely feature some more superhero antics from the movie tie-in The Amazing Spider-Man and more high-tech combat from the PC release of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
UK All-formats chart for week ending 23rd June:
1. Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes
2. FIFA 12
3. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
4. Max Payne 3
5. Battlefield 3
6. Lollipop Chainsaw
7. Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games
8. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
