Dantooine confirmed for Star Wars Galaxies

LucasArts and SOE announce that Dantooine will be one of several "adventure planets" in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.

LucasArts and Sony Online have announced that Dantooine will be one of several planets that players will be able to visit in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. As they explore Dantooine, players will encounter dangerous primitive natives known as Dantari, a sizable Imperial occupation force, and a small band of smugglers led by a vicious crime lord.

"With the inclusion of Dantooine, we feel we're offering a diverse Star Wars experience," said Haden Blackman, producer at LucasArts for Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. "Fans of the films will remember Princess Leia's Dantooine reference from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, though more important is our ability to leverage the world's rich history and striking landscape. As one of several 'adventure planets,' players will travel to Dantooine for the opportunity to engage in epic battles, uncover new storylines, and discover new sites."

Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, which is currently in its third phase of beta testing, is a massively multiplayer online RPG set in the Star Wars universe. Around 475,000 gamers have already registered as members of the game's fan community, and a new release date for the game will, according to today's press release, be announced in the coming weeks.
