EA reveals millions of gamers have downloaded beta since launch January 29; preorders up 35 percent over Crysis 2.
The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC multiplayer beta for Crysis 3, which went live January 29, has been downloaded over 3 million times worldwide, Electronic Arts announced today. In addition, EA said preorders for the first-person shooter are pacing ahead of Crysis 2 by 35 percent.
On top of this, EA revealed that its online video series "The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3" helped the Crysis YouTube channel cross 16 million views. This series was produced by From Hell and Dead Presidents director Albert Hughes.
Crysis 3 is a first-person shooter set in 2047 New York that casts players as Prophet, a supersoldier seeking vengeance. The game is due out for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on February 19, 2013.
A "lack of business drive" killed the Wii U version of Crysis 3, according to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.

I'm sure the majority of those downloads did not enjoy the beta...I know I didn't. I was a fan of the 2nd but this one so far has driven me away.
yeah, i tried for ps3 to show my freind the difference between ps3 and pc and it didnt even look as good as killzone3 pathetic. I guess crytek is focusing on pc more which is good, they were only pc to begin with
@ztron370 You will be just fine there is no difference between i5 and i7 performance in games . i have same cpu 3570k that is the sweet spot for gaming thats all i do and surfing the net. I have a 670 and it plays great. Your crossfire config willl have no prob dont listen to that i have a i7 guy big woop. the system requirements say latest quad core, and that is the latest. Wahob- MinSeo his i7 is three gen old , he dont know what he is saying. game on.
I love the PS3 (yet I understand the PCs are more powerful), but the console port really fell flat. I'm shocked considering that they said that graphically it was "pushing the consoles to their limits." Not buying it. I've seen many exclusives that look phenomonal. Even the console ports of Far Cry 3 and Battlefield 3 looked great. Crysis 3 was a joke, graphics wise.
I'm on the fence with Crysis 3. I'm getting 50+ fps using an I7cpu and 670gpu(16GB main, 4GB vRam).
Far Cry 3 is still my game from 2012' and until something comes out that is better, i may just play through it(30hrs) for a 5th time.
Well that and modded GTA:IV, as playing in FP view and using ENB has made that 2008' game seem fresh, even 5 yrs later.
In da face of this idiot from EA (I think?) who said demos are bad for business. If your game is good, demo will be good, people won't be disappointed and will buy it. If your game is bad, then make it better next time and don't bitch about that it failed because of demo. Sorry for not wanting to waste money on bad games.
@nousername66 Yeah, I played it for about ten minutes as well on 360, and it looked bad, so I turned it off. I'm still getting the game though, and I hope it looks better than that from a visual perspective, 'cause even Crysis 2, through all of its bugs and glitches, looked way, way better than the beta.
The beta looked mediocre at best. I don't see how anyone could see that, that's the best the game can offer. It just seems like there are a lot of people being nonchalant about it as if that's what we're used to, and I'm not. It looks worse than games that came out at the beginning of this gen.
I know I shouldn't focus on visuals, but jeez.
@NTM23 @nousername66 Dont complain about how something looks when your looking at it through the bottom of a beer bottle. Xbox/PS3 specs are only going to run this game in the lowest settings. Crysis has always been one of those games that pushes the graphical envelope , don't moan when ten year old tech can not keep up!
I downloaded and played all 3 versions of the beta just to see how they compare, and what I found was a little surprising.
The PC version obviously looks the best, 360 is somewhere in the middle, and the PS3 version looks like absolute crap. Tons of blurry textures, pop-in, and it seemed like it was only running in 480p rather than 720p on the 360. Of course this was just a beta, perhaps the final game will look a bit better, but it was weird how big a difference there was between the 360 and PS3 versions.
Also found that, competitively, I was performing the best in PS3 games because the PS3 players all sucked (compared to the ones on PC and 360).
ps3 players sucks because they usually have more of a life than pc gamers (mobility scooter guys) or 360 gamers (kids)... i don't want to start a war on the subject, but i just think it's a bit true here in north america... don't take it personal guys!
@ztron370 Ready but Core i5 is Highest for Crysis
but you will get Good perfomance in medium quality 1920x1080p
@Wahab_MinSeo I have a Core i5 and just a single 660 ti and could run the beta with textures on Very High, everything else on High, and get between 50 and 60 fps.
Crossfire 7950s should be more than sufficient for High settings.
@ Wahab_MinSeo also your graphics cards are similar
Your i7 is the same as the i5 its quad core, in fact his i5 is a little faster at 3.4Ghz where as yours is 3.2Ghz
@baxwam You need a GTX 690 to absolutely max it out, I think
@Spartan_418 @baxwam Just ran a gamaply test with Fraps With Core i7 and 8 gigs of ram and a2 gig GdR5 GTX680 it run Cryisis 2 on Ultra 1080p DX11 with a Averaged of 45-50 fps it caps at 50 IDK why. So I am expecting to play cryisis 3 at like extreme 1080p with like 40fps but muti player I am gonna keep it at very high
@jhcho2 Thank you for the advice FYI I just upgrade from a GTX 260 so Im kinda behind of all this new graphic stuff
@jhcho2 yeah the Crysis 3 beta capped the fps at 30 with Vsync on, so turning it off is important
@baxwam @Spartan_418 your Crysis 2 capped at 50fps because of vsync and directx11. I have a GTX680 as well and you get the best performance for Crysis 3 by setting everything to Very High except Shaders. Leave that at High. Turn off Vsync and use FXAA instead of SMAA or MSAA.
Crysis 1 was the best, it was like BF3. You could drive around, capture bases, and really good maps. I loved Crysis 2 tho, but Crysis 3 is not my thing anymore. Help me out here; the invisible suit was not a big problem is Crysis 2 but here it's a disaster. I can't see anything when someone is in invisible mode. In Crysis 2 u could see something if u payed attention, but here I see absolutely nothing. I played it on PS3, I think it's because of crappy graphics! Do PC players have this problem! I know invisible suit is going to ruin this game for me.
@shayan_47 Crysis 2 had a "perk" that made it easier to see cloaked players, I'm guessing Crysis 3 will too
pc version will force origin, even the beta does. So it's over for me with the crysis series. Good bye Crytek, 'will never support you again in gaming franchise.
@TransvormerSCol The loser here is you, Crysis isn't my cup of tea but if you ditch a game because of Origin, then wow,
@TransvormerSCol Ditiching any game just because of Origin is stupid. Granted, it's not the best platform, and it's inconvenient. But you're really gonna be missing out on some great games that EA happens to publish in the future.
@TransvormerSCol Sucks to be you then. I'm not having any issues with Origin other than some of EA's games doesn't allow you to invite friends to the games through Origin's friend list.
Ya let us just forget that Cevat Yerli and the rest of the vocal scumbags of crytek are total dicks and let us buy their game!
No thanks. You can shove your game where it belongs.
Game sales continue to slide, yet, game companies continue to cannibalize themselves and make games worse, more restrictive, and more expensive...then they want to blame it on Angry Birds..
