Crazy Taxi picks up fares November 24
Downloadable HD edition of Sega Dreamcast and arcade racer set for global release on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade; American PS3 gamers to get it November 23.
It's nearly time to make some crazy money once again. Sega today announced that its HD remake of the Dreamcast and arcade driving game Crazy Taxi is set for launch on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network next month.
The Xbox 360 version of the game will launch in North America, Europe, and Australia on November 24. In Europe and Australia, the PlayStation 3 version will hit the same day, although American gamers will be able to download it starting November 23. When it launches, the game will sell for 800 Microsoft points ($9.99, £6.29, €7.99, or AU$12.95).
Crazy Taxi is the second Dreamcast revival to arrive on downloadable services from Sega, following on from last month's release of Sonic Adventure. Like that game, Crazy Taxi has been updated with 720p HD visuals, leaderboards, and achievements/trophies. Like the original game, the rerelease features 16 minigames as well as arcade and original game modes.

Chu Chu rocket and Powerstone online please :) Skies of Arcadia.....?
now they need to make a Jet Grind Radio remake and they will be almost finished.
I already bought this game twice, dreamcast and gamecube versions. Mastered the hell out of the arcade mode play. Cant see myself getting a third copy though...
I loved this game when it came out & played the hell out of it in the arcades. I think i'll get this just cuz i dont have it.
Not interested. Someone wake me when both Shenmue games get released.
Will you still have a time limit? Why the hell could I never just drive around endlessly taking fares? Not gonna pay $10 to start over every 3 minutes.
i wish that sega still had a deal with the offspring and yum brands. it will be weird playing it without hearing the offspring and hearing the fares say "take me to pizza hut!" and @killlo thanks for making it a microsoft bashing comment. ugh. its a game. its multiplatform. be happy and shut up
Why call them MS points? To trick people into thinking that they are not spending real money.
I will definitely be buying this. If we keep supporting these HD remakes of DC games, then Shenmue is sure to follow at some point!
I want Jet Grind Radio.
All I want!
that was a good game
The video wont load for me, so this might have been covered but does Crazy Taxi have the same horrible borders around it that Sonic Adventure did?? I have a nice big widescreen tv and in the middle of it is a very tiny Sonic adventure "window" really annoyed me and was very off putting and my tv sadly doesnt have an effective zoom feature :/ Also the re-release of Soul calibur on XBL wasn't a Dreamcast port :/ no mission mode, no characters to unlock, no unlockables in general A re-release of Shenmue 1+2 would be much appreciated it needs to gain a new fanbase to gain more active interest. I still feel strongly they could use the Yakuza engine for a 3rd title one day!
I rather spend 10 bucks on this then get 3 maps for Halo Reach
Oh and LordelX, they put Soul Calibur on XBL about a month before SC4 came out.
OMG Grandia II would be awesome. I have the PC version, but for some reason the cutscenes are broke >.
Sweet. More Dreamcast games please. Since I already have Sonic Adventure DX and Crazy Taxi for Gamecube, I won't be needing this. I would love to see Jet Grind Radio, Grandia II, Sega Bass Fishing (with Move support), Shenmue I & II, Skies of Arcadia, Crazy Taxi II, Sonic Adventure 2, PSO, Soul Caliber and Chu Chu Rocket. Even Quake III would be cool.
@DCUltrapro Skies of arcadia was truely amazing..... . .
well i'm gonna miss out i don't do downloads oh well fun game
I wouldn't be tempted to spend money on the original crazy taxi to be honest, I loved it for a bit of fun on the Dreamcast, the Dreamcast being the ultimate console imho, but I still have my original DC hooked up in the front room and really there is no benefit as it is a very short and sweet arcade game. Now... if they were to say... release Skies Of Arcadia and PSOver2 I would happily drop truck loads of cash for them as they are probably the best games I have ever played and NEED to be revived!! Forget Crazy Taxi, it became a franchise and fizzled out naturally, revive something that got completely overlooked or never received a TRUE console sequel *Scowls evilly at BLUE BURST and PSU
Superb was actually only talking about this game with my mate at the weekend and wondering if it would come to the Psn or Xbl it better keep it's awesome soundtrack
Hell yea! This is great news. Honestly I've been pretty dissapointed with alot of new games, but most of these arcade relseases are amazing.
Condemned was the only good retail release from them...the rest are horrible...soo re-releasing oldies is fine as long as they update them to HD (unlike some arcade games) and add online modes.
Cool, I just hope it has all the frantic music that made the other game so fun to play.
In other words, other than 720p, there's no real reason to stop playing the DC/Gamecube versions. i don't need an achievement to tell me that I've picked up 1000 fares or driven 100,000 miles.
finally all we need now is power stone to get the dreamcast games rolling
I will be getting this, we need more classic DC games
Jet Grind Radio next please!!
What. Bring on the Sega Dreamcast games with achievements. What could be better? I still have both Crazy taxi and Crazy Taxi 2, and they get dusted off once in a while, but the HD remake + achievements should warrant a purchase.
Yay, more great Dreamcast games I missed. Come on, Skies of Arcadia!
And what do they mean second one to come to xbox live? What about Soul Calibur?!
Grandia II would be nice as well haha!
Just put Sonic Adventure 2 and Skies of Arcadia on xboxlive/psn....and forget the rest!
FanFicGuru There are versions of Jet Grind Radio and Shenmue 2 that came out on the Original Xbox and both are Backwards Compatible and playable on the Xbox 360. I own both you might still be able to pick them up some where. I still play them.
I hope Sega did a better job with this game than they did with Sonic Adventure on Xbox Live. I own the Dreamcast and the original games. Sonic Adventure looked and played like crap on the Xbox 360 when I tried it out. The camera was worse than the original Dreamcast game and the game seemed to have less polygons and textures. The controls sucked. Playing the game and even having it compared to the Dreamcast's version angers me. The HD thing isn't an excuse as I use to play most of my Dreamcast games on a VGA monitor at 640 x 480 . Putting the two versions side by side I'd stick with the original.
woot woot....now we need powerstone with online matchmaking
Yay SEGA! I got my taxi, my blue hedgehog, my Ferrari, now where is my graffiti can, and roller blades?
This is a must buy, I've been thinking about this game lately...
Also bring skies of arcadia!!!!
Still have it for Dreamcast and I play it from time to time. Hopefully they bring quake III and have online death-matches. Now that would be a must buy!
Price wise this is pretty fair. In HD this should be a lot of fun, I still have it for my dreamcast too( which collects a lot of dust now )
It ain't Crazy Taxi without the Offspring, that's just a lazy port.
I'm pretty sure they said they weren't able to include the original licensed music and products. So no Offspring or Bad Religion.
I hope The Offspring music is still in it :D
I remember getting this for my birthday when i was 11 or 12 years old and playing it on my PS2. Definitely gonna be picking this game up on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
i loved this game!! i will most likely buy it unless it's completely broken.
brilliant i loved this on the dreamcast, my boys and i played this all the time, when we first put in the disc we were blown away great graphics super speed and above all great fun, even the minigames were a laugh. i still think the dreamcast was a great machine with some classic games, here's hoping more come to xbox live arcade i bet there are many dreamcast owners like myself who could come up with a list of great games we would like updated and released.
@Spuzzy77 Crazy Taxi is the second Dreamcast revival to arrive on downloadable services from Sega
Is it going to be the dreamcast version or the edited GameCube version? That's what i want to know.
Here's to hoping for a sweet port, they already got the price right.
