make a multiplayer demo. it makes this web site sound retarded without one. add a multiplayer demo and your bound to get a response from more players. i could crush noobs and join clans. so get to work boys.
Single-player tryout of THQ's upcoming real-time strategy war game now available for download from GameSpot.
Gamers itching to get into the thick of battle can now do so without fear of losing their lives or hard-earned cash. A demo for Company of Heroes, a PC real-time strategy game set during World War II, is now available for download from GameSpot.
The trial highlights the single-player portion of the game and is a hearty 1.8GB in size. Players can get their feet wet in the game's tutorial before earning their stripes in two single-player missions. Both the Axis and Allies are playable in skirmish mode.
Using the proprietary Essence Engine, Company of Heroes boasts real-time physics, dynamic range lighting, and advanced artificial intelligence. The story follows a group of American GIs as they take on the Nazi War Machine. Players will also be able to go head-to-head with up to seven other gamers in the multiplayer mode.
Company of Heroes was developed by RTS vet Relic Entertainment (Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War) and is being published by THQ. The full retail version will be released on September 14 for $49.99. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
This game plays great and looks great. My graphics card is a sucky but it still runs the game decently. I look forward to the full release.
Ill buy this game... is the best rts since Warcraft 3, played the open beta and is great, rts of the ear in my opinion.
I hope this will work better than the JTF demo I DLed but failed to play. And no, my system is not crap so that's not the reason.
Yikes!!! I didn't think FFXI was that big!! I actually played if for a month when it first came out, and I thought it was big then... it was only about 5-6GB then. 15+GB for it now??! That's insane! I go through hard drive space like crazy (I have over a TB here at home, and I'm STILL running out of space)... but if every game was that big, I don't know what I'd do. :)
Hey alector81 you think this game is big? Finally fantasy XI with all expansions and updates is in the high teens of gigabytes
1.8GB for a DEMO!! Are you people seeing this?!? The majority of FULL GAMES are only about 3-4GB. Why on earth is a DEMO nearly 2GB?? What could possibly warrant that size on this. I downloaded the Just Cause demo a couple weeks ago, and that only came to be about 350MB. *btw, that's a pretty good demo* The new WarHammer 4K demo that just came out was only 308MB for the entire demo. That included a tutorial and 2 different levels. *also not a bad demo* All rantings aside, I AM downloading this. I have to see what could possibly cause this to be nearly 2GB. I didn't bother trying the multiplayer version of this, as I'm not too keen on the multiplayer part in games. Hoipefully the single player is good enough to buy. :)
Mine didn't even install... got a problem during it. Well, the game DOES come out next week, anyway...
This demo is too demanding, i'm playing at 1920x1200 at high settings w/7900 gtx's in SLI and an FX60 at 3.0 and i'm getting like 10 fps & lower, any one having these problems????????. There's no way this game is this demanding, It's gotta be a bug. F.E.A.R, BF2, GRAW & COD 2 looks better than this and i run these max detail at 1920x1200 all above 80 to 100 fps.
"Players will also be able to go head-to-head with up to seven other gamers in the multiplayer mode." Unlike many other RTS titles, I believe that Company of Heroes will not include a Free-For-All multiplayer mode. Previews, both here at Gamespot and elsewhere, have explained that multiplayer battles will be Axis versus Allies, never Axis v Axis or Allies v Allies. Games with more than two players will be divided into two teams (Axis or Allies). There is also a Company of Heroes demo with the October issue of PC Gamer.
The demo is different than both of the betas, it has the 2 levels and tutorial like the single player beta (from PC Gamer), but also has a skirmish mode where you play against the AI.
xsplinter I downloaded this a few weeks ago. Keep up with the times Gamespot That was the beta demo this is the official demo.
