Company of Heroes 2 pushed back to June 2013

A small delay will help the PC RTS "meet the high standard set by its predecessor," says Sega.
World War II real-time strategy game Company of Heroes 2 has had its release date pushed back to June 25 in North America and Europe, new publisher Sega has announced.
The game, developed by Relic Entertainment, was originally due out this year from now-defunct publisher THQ. Sega purchased Relic, which also makes the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War series, for $26.6 million.
Sega said the delay would "help Company of Heroes 2 meet the high standard set by its predecessor, the highest rated strategy game of all time."
Producer Greg Wilson said that Relic hates "to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play but we feel that the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel fans deserve."
"However, the wait won't be long as players will soon be able to help us test and balance multiplayer in the upcoming Closed Beta. Details will follow shortly."
GameSpot awarded the original Company of Heroes a 9.0 when it was released in 2006.

2 Like I'd rather they take their time to get it right, instead of releasing a half-arsed buggy mess. COH2 and Rome 2 (Total War), its gonna be an epic year for strategy gaming!
i don't know. usually masterpiece sequels that are taken by large corrupt companies don't tend out to be even on par with its original predecessor. just look at what EA has done to ME3. also look at all micro-transaction it raped Dead Space 3 with. now let's look at UBI that has milked the Assasin's Creed series to the point where people start mistaking it for an Activision title. and of course activision, which dried out many of its games by releasing yearly sequels which made everything expensive, unoriginal, and pale. majority of gamers don't understand that large corporations and companies work like governments, and they try to get the most efficient pay for the least amount of work put in. until gamers start retaliating by not buying their products, this will go further into complete totalitarianism advantage of consumers, who would think they're obliged to buy half a game for 60 bucks, and pay another 60 for dlcs locked on disks, and of course the monthly subscriptions. the future of gaming: pay for online game subscription, pay for xbox live, pay for internet just to play 1 game. Good! Maybe this way Dow 2: Retribution multiplayer will survive longer....it's near death as it is and I feared an early COH 2 + HotS would siphon players away and deliver the coup de grace. That said, I'm really looking forward to COH 2!
Yes, delayed while they figure out what parts of the game they can remove to sell to us as DLC.
im glad im seeing delays now instead of making a game hit a release date but it isn't as polished as it should be

Man this keeps getting pushed back, I do hope this is nothing to worry about I'm seriously stoked for this game!
I can wait....better to make sure that COH does not turn out like some of the other's. Thank you for considering us first and not the money.
1 Like That's not too bad, unlike most delays that are about a whole year or more. A new C&C Generals or World in Conflict I'd really love though.
Well I feel out of the loop. I thought this was planned to be released in December 2013 or January 2014. This June release date is 6 months earlier than I thought it'd be released. :P
1 Like @lsr Actually it was set for March 2013. Maybe you got it confused with C&C Generals 2 ? That IS set to come out in December 2013. This is a golden year for a strategy gamer like me. So much to look forward to. although I'm not a huge fan of Starcraft. I'll probably still play the campaign though, as I did with the original Starcraft 2. I'm itching to play COH 2 and Generals 2 multiplayer.
@crazynotstupid @lsr There is no such thing like RTS fan or RPG fan and so on . A real gamer plays all kind of games . Looking forward to this and Starcraft and then Rome 2 later this year following Wasteland 2 . I was interested in Generals 2 but since it went free2play I lost my interest .

I would rather them push back the release date a few months, to have more polish, and better optimization.
I love the original Company of Heroes game and it's expansion. I am much more excited for this than the Heart of the Swarm expansion. There's more than one reason my username is starcrafthenry and not starcraft2henry.
Wise not to release too early and go up against Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, can't wait for both :)
1 Like @SteamyPotatoes It was planned for March but due to THQ's death it's pushed back . Still very glad that we finally have official release date . As you said Heart of the Swarm will keep me busy till then .
I'm glad they delay it. The THQ -> new owner transisition likely wasn't completely complication free. This way we get a good game.
3 Like Like I said with the delay on Metro Last Light. I would rather see a game delayed but polished rather than a game rushed but broken. Good to see Sega taking steps to help the franchise.
