Commandos 3 details

Eidos releases new information on Pyro Studios' tactical strategy sequel. New screens inside.

Eidos Interactive has today released new gameplay information on Commandos 3 and has also revealed that the full title of the game will actually be Commandos 3: Destination Berlin. Set in World War II, the game will feature three campaigns spanning Stalingrad, Central Europe, and Normandy, which can be played in any order. The single-player game will be narrative-driven via cinematic briefings and will feature situations new to the series such as ambushes, assaults, and level bosses. In general, the game will consist of smaller maps and action-oriented missions that form part of a larger campaign.

Perhaps the most exciting announcement made today is that Commandos will be the first game in the series to feature a multiplayer deathmatch mode, and although no specific details have been released at this time, Eidos has stated that up to eight players will be supported. The other improvement mentioned in today's press release is the introduction of a new interior engine that will allow players not only to rotate the environments but also to zoom in and out.

Commandos 3: Destination Berlin is currently scheduled for release this summer. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
