ChartSpot: April 2006
Kingdom Hearts II reigns again, GRAW and Oblivion stay put, and the Sims remain Open for Business.
Industry-research group NPD Funworld has released their detailed monthly sales rankings for April 2006--and they look a lot like the previous month's. On the portable/console chart, there was no change at the top, with Kingdom Hearts II for the PlayStation 2 standing fast at number one. The number-two and three slots also remained the same--both were occupied by the top two Xbox 360 games, Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Advanced Warfighter and 2K Games' The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Next up were two "God" games for the PS2--Electronic Arts' Godfather and Sony's God of War, which are selling at discount price points of $39.99 and $19.99, respectively. They were followed by a trio of baseball titles: MLB '06: The Show for the PS2, and Major League Baseball 2K6 for the Xbox 360 and PS2. Rounding out the top 10 were Sony and Polyphony Digital's Tourist Trophy for the PS2 and EA's Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for the Xbox 360.
On the portable front, only two Nintendo DS games cracked the top 20 non-PC games list. Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day landed in 14th, while Metroid Prime: Hunters eked its way onto the list in 20th. Still, the DS's double-showing was better than the PlayStation Portable and Game Boy Advance--no title for either platform made the top 20 at all.
On the PC charts, the Sims once again took the top slot in the form of The Sims 2: Open For Business expansion pack. Another add-on, The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff, came in third, the Sims 2 was seventh, Sims 2 Nightlife was 12th, the Sims Complete Collection was 17th, and The Sims 2: University was 18th.
As is often the case, role-playing games were well represented on the April 2006 bestseller charts. The PC edition of the free-roaming RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the number-two game of the month, while a pair of massively multiplayer online RPG titles--Vivendi's World of Warcraft and NCsoft's Guild Wars Factions--were fourth and fifth, respectively. Real-time strategy games were also on hand in force and included Star Wars: Empire At War (sixth), Lord of the Rings, Battle For Middle-earth II (eighth), and Age of Empires III (ninth).

Why should anyone be surprised the PS2 has the #1 game? It has at least 10 times more consoles out there than the 360, DS, PSP, GC systems and the PC. It should have the TOP 5 games. What is surprising is that the 360 has the #2 & 3 spots while only in the race for 6 months. BTW, PS2 is going to sell more games than the PS3 in November too...especially if God Of War 2 or something great comes out :D
ds rocks!!! psp = DEAD
Kh2 definatly deserves its top spot, that game is so good, its amazing that square pulled off such an amazing follow up to kh
KINGDOM HEARTS 2 DOES IT AGAIN!!!
A complete contrast compared with the Japanese charts. Sony is still very strong in the US and the 360 is starting to show it's true potential with some great games. This november will be very interesting for the charts.
The original Kingdom Hearts #17
kingdom hearts 2 still going strong i see.
I own a 360, but I don't own Oblivion. Maybe it is time I buy it? Nah, Morrowind robbed my of what little social life I had. I have to go get that life back! Starting...right after this session of GRAW. :)
I agree with bryehngeocef. And what is this, the Oblivion/KH fan forum?
I'm glad to see the industry is doing relatively well dispite it not being around the holiday period and right before the next set of consoles launch. Good stuff.

damn oblivion is still up in the top 2
WOW! This is a HUGE surprise! I thought that Oblivion would take the top spot no matter how epic KHII was. Guess I was wrong.
Good for Kingdom Hearts 2. keep it up!!
360 is doing good.
Smash Bros. Is still up there on Gamecube's sweet!
No one has yet said that all three Kingdom Hearts games were in the top 10 of their respective platforms.
wow. KH1 and 2 are both on the list. Thats impressive on squares part.

great,thanks for the info!!
WOW PS2 still going damn strong.
The Xbox360 is doing great!!
A Small step for Square-Enix, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR RPGS!!! I hope RPGs continue to dominate the sales chart. The production and stories that go into those games deserve it!
look man you all can say whatever you want about those games but the day that one of those games you like is ever and I mean EVER like GOD OF WAR you can start saying your BS about the game you like, I know you are going to tell me that Kindomg Hearts but its succes has been because of Kingdom Hearts II, unlike GOD OF WAR its hanging in there sincen 2005
Da Davinci code and Xmen should not be selling there suck butt games.
Go KH!
who the hell keeps buying all that sims stuff?
Interesting, Kingdom Hearts and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion really deserve their Rankings.
guess kingdom hearts deserves the first place
KH II is the best PS2 game I played this year, for now anyways. Sadly, my com doesn't run Oblivion smoothly, but it's still a good game. (The people that don't like KH2 are people that never played it before)
Whatever you say Iffy350.....And Hellfire05....dude...where have you been?
I didnt even know there was a KH 2
God of War jump pretty high lol.
I got ACZ for 34.95! If you payed 50 dollars you got riped of with last years graphics! PS2 is lame!
Sure it is Iffy350......sure it is
