Capcom: Up to 40 PSN games coming soon - Report
Publisher looking to ramp up availability of original PlayStation and PSP games on Sony's downloadable-game service during the next few months.
Last week, rumors of a new version of the PSP hardware that would be able to play only downloadable games resurfaced, but with a handful of new details. One of the new tidbits said that when the handheld comes out, it will do so with more than 100 games added to the system's online catalog.
If that's true, a significant chunk of those games could bear the Capcom name. Gaming blog Joystiq is reporting that Capcom senior director of communications and community Chris Kramer told the site that it is preparing to increase its PlayStation Store presence drastically in the near future.
"Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months," Kramer said.
The publisher will be looking at a lot of Street Fighter and Resident Evil games, according to Kramer. However, it likely won't include licensed games such as Marvel vs. Capcom, despite the recent announcement that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be downloadable for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Currently the publisher has made limited use of the North American PlayStation Store for the PSP, recently unveiling its first digital-distribution-only game for the handheld.
