Capcom cancels Mega Man Online

Capcom and developer Neowiz mutually agree to halt development of Mega Man MMO.
Capcom has cancelled development of MMO Mega Man Online.
The game was announced in 2010, but now it transpires that Capcom and developer Neowiz mutually agreed to halt development on Mega Man Online in November 2012.
Speaking to Korean website This Is Game (translated via Kotaku), a Neowiz spokesman explained the situation. "Both companies have continually discussed to find agreeable points on quality, development time, communication and etc. Ultimately, both companies have agreed to stop the development of Rock Man Online last early November."
The game was to be set in the distant future, long after the Mega Man and Mega Man X timelines, with copies of the series' heroes being put into mass-production to combat an invasion of robotic baddies.
Capcom cancelled both Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe in 2011, but promised at the end of 2012 that the character had plenty of life left.
"I can say with certainty that you've not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we'll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you're going to enjoy over the next 25 years," said Capcom senior vice president Christian Svensson at the time.

1 Like I've said this like millions of times since 2011........DAMN YOU CAPCOM!!!!!! Once again these idiots are giving Mega Man the shaft. It's just one cancellation after another with this guys. Now I know that so far this game was only going to be released in Korea (and possibly state side unless they do the same thing like with Dragon Ball Online), but the fact still remains that these guys just keep kicking fans in the balls with this crap!
"Don't worry, guys, maybe we'll put Megaman in like, a fighter crossover or something, except he'll be based on bad cover art or--woah, put down those pitchforks!"
I enjoyed the X and ZX series, would be nice to see some quality Megaman games, even though I'm not that big of a fan.

Well perhaps the games haven't been turning out well and they'd rather not release a tainted megaman game

First was Resident evil, Them Rockman, Now Crappy Fighter games ( SF X TK), Bullshit DLC, ENDING DLC, UNLOCKABLES DLC, FORGOT OLD IPS, Onimusha for example, FUCK UP DEVIL MAY CRY And made one of the most SHUTTY GAMES THESE GEN OPERATION RACCON CITY and ASURAS WRATH, the story was good and the battles, as a Shows badass but as game was lame and Lazy in the Gameplay departmen.

@the_real_luigi tell me about it, first mega man universe and now this. i think the only mega man games we might see from now are the 8-bit'ish incarnations on current gen systems.
I don't understand why people are so pissed about this. The idea of making "Megaman" (which is based around a single super hero) into an MMO game would've been a disaster and bombed in sales. Maybe like the few hardcore sheep would've bought it but that's it. This running concept alone just sounds like a joke.
Take it as a good decision on Capcom's part. Rather they not waste time with such an idiotic concept.

Can i ask why EVERY F***KING IP in the history of EVER is having an "ONLINE" taped on to it ? FFS not everything needs to be an MMO or a social experience.
I wouldn't be surprised if the only way to get a new Megaman game is for the communtiy fund it. Capcom clearly can't be bothered, so I expect to see a Kickstarter popping up in the near future.
I doubt it. The only person who was passionate enough to actually do something like that for Mega man abandoned his baby two years ago.

At least as of late Sega has managed to pull their mascot out of the mud brush him off and actually produce some quality products with him again.

Finally a new one and is a Expansion ( A GOOD ONE but expansion) I hope that MH 4 comes out with no more than a 1 year of delay between the JAP and the NA.
@ZERO_X02 And those HD re-releases like the latest DarkStalkers Resurrection are done poorly with limited options (seriously no 1 vs. 1 option for player match?), and thanks to SEGA's 5$ downloadable fighting games, they're overpriced.

Well it's actually kind of true. They put more action in it to appeal to the COD crowd and try for their sails figures. They actually have said this.
Though I would still call RE6 more of a Gears Of War clone which isn't much better.
@Deadly_Nemesis @higherflyerJ @GSJones1994 I'm with ya on the more action-oriented aspect... but comparing it to COD really isn't fair. Maybe the COD "crowd". Ugh.
Comparing it to Gears I could see, because they are both at least 3rd person shooters. Although, Gears is more of a duck and shoot and Resident Evil is more in your face, nowhere to hide type of thrills.
I really hate comparing games as you can see. I see each game as it's own entity even with aspects present that are obviously borrowed from other games.
