Treyarch brought dedicated servers back in 2010's original Black Ops, and last year's Modern Warfare 3 had dedicated servers, but they were unranked, meaning the server administrator controlled all unlocks.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 13. It is a sequel to 2010's original Black Ops, which is the best-selling series entry to date, moving more than 25 million copies as of August 2011.
So much hate... why? i dont seen how commenting talking crap about Activision and COD will make a difference, i for one love COD, specially ZOMBIES! treyarch may be using the same engine, but a new campaign, new mp maps, with a revamped class creation, and futuristic weapons is more than enough. Not to mention how they'll be using mp is engine for zombies, in which case they've said there'll be game modes, and an 8 player zombie mode. than again, everything popular comes with a bunch of hate.
There are so many reasons why I will not bother with this game. I used to defend CoD games just like you (though in my defense, I never really got into the series besides World at War and Black Ops). I never got MW2, so I thought I'd give MW3 a try. Such an epic waste of money. The story was extremely boring for me...I've never had less fun shooting up enemies. The multiplayer was just bad all around. Poorly made maps, boring weapons, no dedicated servers for ranking up. It was just MW2 with a slightly fresh paint job.
As for Black Ops II, I watched the E3 gameplay and aside from the sniper rifle that can see through walls (yeah, I bet nobody on multiplayer is going to abuse that!) it was another snooze fest. The graphics actually look worse than in previous games, the sound is the same, and it was all loud explosions and nonsense. I loved the original zombie maps on Black Ops (and Ascension as well) but then instead of just having us kill zombies on fun maps they began to introduce things like George Romero, that dumb astronaut that follows you everywhere, and just a bunch of stupid little things that you had to do. JUST LET ME KILL ZOMBIES! I hear that Black Ops 2 is going to up the 'objective' based gameplay for zombies, so they effectively ruined it for me. So yeah, I still enjoy WaW and Black Ops zombies, but that's about it. Not getting anymore CoD.
Dunno why people are hating on them, they probably go through hell with their activision bosses just to give us these dedi servers..why do you think the people who make the Modern Warfare series' just go through the motions and dont care about dedicated servers. im grateful towards them.
Who cares?Crappy game, crappy future setting, crappy Ghost Recon copy paste, idiotic fanboy base that don't demand a real overhaul of the game, F*** Call of Duty and F*** Activision for stealing money from gamers with the same old dying constantly reskinned product
@vicsrealms The $60 dollar question? Well littleone, answer this.....Is this a $60 singleplayer game? No its not. If this game had no multiplayer, do you think it would make the sales thats its done since the first modern warefare? No again littleone. So the moral of this story is, first think before typing and second do you think they really put a lot of effort in their singleplayer.......
mordern warfare 3 and black ops both were reviewed very well for their single player campains... a simple google search proves it. whether you like the multiplayer or not is a matter of opinion. because the multiplayer as well is reviewed well and the sales numbers speak for themselves.
@Covert8700 Since the SP campaign is all that is really worth playing, it is the most important question I have to ask. COD + United Offensive, COD2, and the first MW were worth the money I paid for them. MW2 and MW3 weren't worth it when we are talking a 4 to 6 hour campaign. The COD series has gone down the tubes over the years, and it used to be one of my favorite story based FPS series. I "think" (since you commented on my ability to do so) that I have good reason to complain as a consumer...uh, former consumer of this series.
If I want multiplayer, then I will buy into the Battlefield series, although the game and Origin were kind of broken. So, I kind of stick with Bad Company 2, which is still loads of fun. Or Borderlands has this great MP capability called Co-op, where you play through the campaign with a couple of friends.
As for the comment you replied too, its called sarcasm. Which I use against companies I once respected and now have no respect for (like Activision, EA, Ubisoft,...Bioware is kind of pending after ME3's ending). If you need to look it up, try a dictionary. They have their uses.
@Covert8700 Actually the single player campaign is what you're mostly paying for. The multiplayer is practically copy and paste from previous CoD games with a few tweaks and changes that would only warrant a simple patch rather than an entire new title. Funnily enough, millions of people are dumb enough to fall for this. I know quite a few CoD players and not one of them ever bothered with single player. Return to castle wolfenstein enemy territory was a more engaging multiplayer experience than CoD and was totally free with no pay 2 win option either, oh and enough free maps to keep you playing fresh for years. All the CoD games since MW1 are nothing more than slight upgrades that aren't worth more than $20, the average price for a basic expansion pack. Because seriously, all CoD games since MW1 are just expansion packs, yet they release them as fully priced titles and you suckers fall for it every year.
I wonder when their going to stop milking an out-produced game series/ engine and start making something worth while and creative..... They are making a SECOND on what was essentially an expansion. They are essentially all the same games, you'll find the same gameplay in COD 4 modern warfare as you will in black ops, as you will in world at war, as you will in COD modern warfare 2.
I'm sorry, but I want a new game, not the next cheap recreate of a game with a few extra things pasted into it to make it seem fresh. All it is at this point is a marketing ploy....
@gafuudy Nothing has changed since modern warefare 2 and it will probably never change. Its called making a "profit", which means making money. Its probably guaranteed it will break another record compared to the first black ops.
@Covert8700 What I do wonder, though, is why the hell do they release new games all the time; if it's all about money, why waste millions on making a new game, marketing it etc. when they could just keep releasing more maps to the previous one :D
@johnrare n thats im waiting for and worried about most all fps nowadays have dedicated servers for consoles activision really needs to give us this, its the only thing that will raise an eyebrow for gamers, but i doubt that they will pay for servers for the console -_-
Yawn, another CoD, another gaming sham, wow dedicated servers are back *falls on the floor*, sorry you lost my business back in 2009 when you failed to give the community what they wanted,Then they tried to change online gaming to suit their company's ideals and that failed. For me CoD died with CoD5, no point flogging a dead carcass !
All the annoying teenagers have ruined the franchise for me. I don't mind playing against kids, but it gets real old real quick when you play against some punk kids who's vocabulary mostly consists of F bombs.
Anconsole players still get the shaft... on P2P with a full ine of glitc hers, hacks, etc... Till we get same service I will pass on the series. Thank goodness BF3 still runs dedicated otherwise theyd get the boot too
