Metal Gear Solid 4 should have "Most Epic game ending of the year" since when snake crawls its so damn exhilirating since your jumping on your couch screaming "You can do it snake!" and mashing the controller as hard as you can. That was good while it lasted.

COD4 is the best multiplayer game I have ever played. It's just so smooth and fun. - I would also like to point out that I have played the COD 5 beta for about 22 hours now and it is not even close to as good as COD 4 is. - Looks like we will have to wait untill COD 6 for another great COD game. Notice I said great as COD 5 is good just not great like COD 4 is.

MGS4 should be Soundtrack of the Year!

GTAIV soundtrack of the year is a bit of a stretch...I thought this was actually one of the downfalls of the game. MGS4 had a fantastic soundtrack, however.

cod4 hands down the best online experience, no matter what anyone else says. It was FUN, and that's what's imortant. many shooters don't give me that feeling of satisfaction. and isn't gta4 multiplat, why is the xbox game of the year. it should be an exclusive just like for the ps3, but even after saying that, it's just not how joystick makes the list it, it seems. tuff break for halo 3 :roll:

wtf? why CoD 4 gets all these rewards? it's a great game, but still definitely doesn't deserves about 3 rewards. GTA IV and MGS 4 are way better.

I just can't understand how come cod4 got the goty award instead of MGS4,MGS4 IMO is the best console game since the original Halo,in both da cases no othr console games can't keep up,in terms of gfx n gameplay. Man those awards r just garbage materials.

COD series are always BEST. they are some pieces of 'Modern Art' nowadays.

all of 08's games werent realised yet they shouldnt count games to be games of the ear yet =( what bout cod5 far cry2 Little big planet resisitance 2 mirrors edgege gears 2 ... all of these games r great to .. uh.. i dont think cod4 is yhe " ultimate" game its preatty good but only for online id give the game of the year to MGS4 i enjoyed it the most

Nice list, though I'd probably have put Mirrors Edge as the "one to watch" as apposed to COD:WaW, considering it's a unique FPS concept and not just another WWII shooter. I've pumped many hours into COD4 mulitplayer, but I'd still give Ultimate Game of the Year to MGS4, hands down. Both excellent tho.

i think MGS4 should win more awards than this. its the best game ever, and the online part is hella good! this should be the ultimate game of the year, hell, MGS4 should win all awards ^^

It really says something when the best game on Xbox was multi-plat, and when the best game on PS3 was exclusive. One more thing. MGS4>COD4.

@ Un4givingAsault: Firstly, your name is spelt offensively bad and there is no Halo 4. But secondly, on topic, even though they are old games, there hasn't been anything worthy of beating them until just now and those games (FarCry 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3, etc. etc. will all be in next year's awards). Thirdly, as for your assessment of those games. I think millions of people worldwide would disagree with you on how good CoD4 and GTAIV are. CoD4 had a short but awesome SP and the best multiplayer I've ever experienced. GTAIV had an amazing SP world, even if its multiplayer struggles. And at any rate, clearly the 850,000 people who voted in these awards disagree with you.

GTA IV, wtf, that game isnt even that good, just cause its apart of the series it gets one. bunch of douches. COD4, not that specail either, still way behind Halo 4's matchmaking, party, and ranking system. And why are these old games?

Those awards are pretty much dead on except for the fact that MGS4 should have won all of CoD4's.

No surprise with GTA IV here. I expected nothing less.

Lol sorry but disappointment of the year certainly NOT Xbox game of the year :( CoD4 was 2007 anyway and GTA has gone backwards since Vice City, I've not played MGS4 so Can't Comment, I bought an Xbox360 Elite specifically for GTA4 so maybe that's why I feel so disappointed by it, the cars handle badly, the characters suck, you can't buy businesses the wanted system is a joke, no planes, no jetpack, no parachute, unoriginal missions, awful soundtrack (how it won that is anybody's guess!?!?) terrible plot etc etc I could go on about GTA's flaws as there are many more bad points about this game than good ones. And as for Multiplayer, that was done on the PC years ago with the MTA mod so it's hardly groundbreaking. The missions are a chore and I do not enjoy driving round a bland city for 10 minutes just to shoot another ethnic minority in the face "fun"

COD4 is amazing online,it's my Friday game:) (yes,this is really sad,I have a schedule for my gaming),honestly there were too many good games this year,I would give any one of them an award. COD4 definitely deserves all the awards though,take another play through the campaign and you'll remember how good it was,I was just starting to forget that until I took another run through it:)It was designed with the help of movie makers for God's sake.And as I said before,fantastic online,very innovative--like many of the people on this thread,I'm going to play it right now lol.Can't wait for Gears of War 2,btw,it probably will be the game of the year,actually I almost have no doubt,unless something really goes wrong.

Even with game of the year by this awards ceremony, doesnt mean Shiet! CoD MP was waaaaaaay to small, and assests like artillary,uav, and others are not needed. CoD WaW is just another example. I mean come on, exactly how many WW2 titles can we continue to play??? No one can come out with a whole new way to play a FPS. After reading a article on another site, more than likely the next title in the CoD series, will be much more like WoW. Since they are now the same company, shouldn't be to hard.

Makes me want to revisit COD4, haven't played it in months after MONTHS of playing it :lol:
