"Buy a year-long sub to a system that will be dated and obsolete by Fall when we release PS4 so we can has s'more of your money!" Is what I'm hearing. As much as devs are harping over needing next-gen tech in order to 'advance' (which is BS), I have no doubt in my worthwhile games will stop releasing for the PS3 ~very~ soon. PS+ may have some benefit for PS4, but it will likely need more than what's left on your sub by that point to build its library and be worth the price of entry, and that's only for those insane enough to drop the inevitably huge amount of money the system itself will cost.
Buy a year of PS Plus, get 3 months free
New limited-time offer for Sony's premium network service gives extra months to those who sign up for 12 months by March 4.
Sony is starting off 2013 with a new PlayStation Plus offer. The company today announced that those who buy a 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus at $50 will receive an extra three months for free. The deal begins today and expires March 4.
A PlayStation Plus subscription includes access to Sony's Instant Game Collection, which features a regularly rotated library of 12 free PS3 titles. These include Little Big Planet 2, Infamous 2, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, and others. Players must keep an active subscription to play the games.
Sony just yesterday released its all-new $300 Classic White PlayStation 3, which features a 500GB hard drive, a matching white controller, and a voucher for a one-year subscription to PS Plus. Those who redeem the voucher during the limited-time promotion will receive the extra three months.
