Bungie's Destiny not coming out in 2013, says Activision

I am sick of people comparing this game to Halo.

Halo starts when we are in the middle of a war, Destiny (as far as we know) starts after the war was lost.  Halo we fight against a bunch of unified races as a super soldier.  In destiny while the traveler gives humans power it can probably be assumed it gives all humans power thus making no human different from the next and the fact that the alien races in Destiny don't seem to be unified at all.  Halo spans the galaxy, while Destiny spans our solar system.  The ancient race who left ruinns behind in Destiny are the humans themselves.  While the cannon of Halo does include ancient humans who were "destroyed" the humans you see in the games are in fact an entirely different evolution of humans.  Destiny so far lies in mystery and we don't know what caused what and who is trying to kill who.  It seems people are assuming certain things because they can link certain aspects of the story that we know to things in the halo universe when in reality we know next to nothing.

Bungie has only given us little pieces of a larger puzzle. They have a year to post ad after ad after ad. Until they're ready give the gaming world something more solid, I will just have to wait and keep an open mind.

It's sad that so many people see a sci-fi setting and instantly connect it to Halo. It's like the majority of people can' tell the differences between different shades of color. "This color?" "It's blue." "Ok and this one?" "Blue."

"...toward something well beyond Halo" --How so? This game looks more like Halo than any other 1st person shooter on the market. Tell me how it's not like Halo. I'm listening. 

I knew it wouldn't be released there just jacking us over to buy the new consoles

I really hope they can make a home run like halo happen again.

I'm glad this this game not coming out this year. Take your sweet time, polish it up, an wait for the next gen console, because really at this point there's hardly any reasons to buy the next gen consoles as far as games are concerned. Everyone's trying to bleed already dead systems dry.

You can pre-order this game for Xbox 360 and PS3 but they will NOT be coming out this year on either of those consoles. They will be coming out on the new Xbox and Playstation. If you look on gamestop.com, you won't see a release date because this could confirm or deny the release date for the new consoles. So as of right now, I would expect this game to come out next year, probably near Thanksgiving or Christmas. Unfortunately. Though I must say, I am happy to see a FPS in the form of an Oblivion or Skyrim world. Very excited!

Might pick it up for the PS4 I might get.

at the last i dont like this type of game

I don't really mind a delay since there is no PC release...They better make this on PC...

They better make this available on PC or meet their true destiny

All I care is for this game to come out on the PS4.

Bungie didn't really start revving up development of Destiny until after the first batch of DLC for Reach was released. That was roughly 2 years ago, and this game has a major multiplayer component, so yeah, a little over 2 years of development doesn't sound like enough time to get this done. They will probably wrap-up the majority of development by Christmas of this year and then just focus on polish for the rest of the year after that and release by Fall of 2014.

Good,they should take their time.

Sounds awesome and the cinematic they had looked awesome also. But damn I've been burned far to many times buying games because I put faith in the company and what they were spewing at me. No more, I sit back and wait to see if the ships going down and glad I'm not on it when it does.

so Bungie have a 10year deal with Activision and 3-4 years down the line they steel to release thier 1st game?

The press release also reiterated that Destiny is confirmed for "the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, as well as other future console platforms", which presumably means the next Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

 This is taken from IGN. I haven't seen Bungie or Activision denying the game's coming on next-gen consoles, and since it's coming in 2014, it's my guess that the game will be released on all platforms. Hopefully on PC as well, but we'll see.

not coming in 2013 and no announcements for next gen..... hmmm.... yeah im calling an early sales flop for this game unless they release nextgen versions alongside current gen ones.

Coming the year after next-gen consoles comes out.. And they're not making it for nex-gen .. Meh.. Don't see this game doing anywhere near as good as Halo did.

I checked Gamestop and "Destiny" is going to be on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360.I really think they can pull this off and probably beat their own creation(which is Halo).But,Bungie has to be really,really,really careful not to make a carbon copy story based off of Halo.I wish them good luck(they will need it)   :) 

Not going to lie, until I see something a little more substantial than the devs talking up their own game and speculation from Gamespot, I'm kinda uninterested in this game.

That is fine by me, I want to play this game on the Xbox 720 anyway!
