And here's me saying that RSI should poach from BioWare's Mass Effect team for their game because Rockstar isn't making a Grand Theft Spaceship game.. Forgot completely about Bungie.
Former Halo developer brings on Red Dead Redemption senior designer Danny Bulla to join sandbox team for upcoming project with Activision.
Bungie has kept tight-lipped on its first post-Halo project, but now some additional light has been shed on the game, rumored to be titled Destiny. The company has hired former Rockstar Games senior game designer Danny Bulla to work on the sandbox team at Bungie.
"We liked Red Dead Redemption so much that we hired Danny Bulla to come here and help us fill your next sandbox," Bungie said in a statement on its website. "He’s doing some amazing work and, so far, he hasn’t tried to lash any of us to a pair of railroad tracks."
At Rockstar, Bulla worked on the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare downloadable content. Prior to joining Rockstar, Bulla spent two years at Midway, where he contributed to 2007's Blacksite: Area 51.
Destiny is Bungie's first project as part of a 10-year publishing deal with Call of Duty company Activision. Legal documents from May suggest that this game will release for the Xbox 360 and that console's successor in 2013, with a 2014 release slated for PlayStation 3.
You people are funny. It seems most of you are ruling out this game simply because of your preconceptions of Activision; it's almost as if it's now become cool to hate on them. Activision actually gave Bungie a great contract that allows them a lot of control over their upcoming project. And there hasn't been even the tiniest indication that this new IP will be turned into an annual franchise. Essentially, Activision are simply funding the project and seem to have faith in Bungie to deliver on their own terms, as they have done in the past when they were with Microsoft.
i glimpsed the guy from Red Dead Revolver on the news link and thought YES PC VERSION!!! damn you Gamespot
I thought I read somewhere that their next game was going to be a series of first person shooters. Is that right?
I love to help out crazy people building something that is insane that will more then likely kill them. It would be nice to have some of them quest in destiny.

I hope if Bungie's next game does end up being a sandbox game that it's in 3rd person. I hate 1st person open world sandbox games because driving in 1st person sucks and it just feels alot more comfortable in 3rd not to mention I wanna be able to see the awesome vehicle I'm driving while I'm in it not just the interior. So hopefully this turns out to be a 3rd person open world sandbox game or else I'll most likely pass.
@Marky360 Honestly, I'd prefer a mix. First person when walking, third-person when you enter a vehicle. Like Halo did it.
More sandbox is always a good thing in my opinion. Not a fan of Bungie or Halo, but let's see where this goes.
Bungie could make the best game ever (which is doubtful IMO as Halo is possibly the most overrated franchise in video game history) and still I won't buy it since Activision is publishing, which I know, puts me in the minority.
@Serpentes420 Ummm no dude THAT overrated award goes to Call Of Duty
@Serpentes420 besides it basically birthing online console multi player and the modern shooter... most things today are based off of the formula originally set down by halo you dont have to like it but you have to respect what it did for modern games.
@Serpentes420 "which is doubtful IMO as Halo is possibly the most overrated franchise in video game history"
You have no soul.
@gatsbythepig you put Bungie and capcom in the same category? I would say companies like Bungie represent a dying breed of amazing private devs, like valve, and Bethesda. While capcom represents rape
Finally someone isn't reporting the Bungie's new game is a sandbox game, because that's not what they were saying at all. Honestly, this shouldn't even be news considering he's been there for at least close to 7 months ( http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?cid=32059 is dated 3/26/12) Barring any leaks, we'll find out just what Bungie's next game is when they tell us.
