Halo developer parses statistics for futuristic Xbox 360-exclusive shooter; title reached lofty figure 14 months faster than Halo 3.
Halo: Reach, Bungie's final Halo title, was released in the middle of September. It won rave reviews and minted over $200 million in its first 24 hours. One of the game's biggest draws is its robust multiplayer component, which is stuffed with dozens of game types and environments. Now, Bungie is reminding the community just how popular the game is through Xbox Live.
Bungie released an infographic this weekend with its Weekly Update filled with numerous playtime statistics, but one screamed louder than the rest. Bungie announced that gamers have logged over 1.3 billion games through Xbox Live since the title was released in September. By comparison, Halo 2 never eclipsed 800 million games played, and Halo 3 took over 17 months to reach the billion-games-played mark.
Additional statistics released included players earning over 900 trillion credits (Reach's in-game currency), Bungie employees losing over 23,000 match-made games, and the total user base racking up a gargantuan 33 billion kills (across campaign, Firefight, and multiplayer). For the full Halo: Reach statistic breakdown, check out Bungie's infographic.
what im getting at is halos over played and stupid why in the world would you need a jet-pak when you can jump 50 feet in the air
I think the best part about this Halo verse CoD is that probably about 75% of the sales from both games, whom are both over 1 billion dollar, are probably the same people owning both games because they are both fun in their own ways. I know lots of people that like both games. I've always like CoD games more personally simply because Halo people memorize spawn points and farm kills, which to me ruins the fun of the game. if you want to farm kills at least let a person live for longer then .5 seconds.... sometimes I can't even turn around and I'm dead in halo games. but gameplay wise I like both games.
Played a few games since Reach came out, but still keep going back and playing Reach. It runs so smooth, your less restricted by the environment, as compared to other games ,the A.I. ,for the most part, does differently every reload , it,s just awesome. As for me I love the campaign .
Those numbers are nothing but accurate. The game was such an improvement. The playlist variety is a great step up from Halo 3's. I love the experience system and that firefight mode is addicting. I played about 125 of those matches however...I only had the game for like 3 weeks.
The Reach Beta didn't convince me in slightest... and hated ODST - traded it in after the Reach Beta Period - Halo 1 & 2 are my series favorites. BTW I own Halo3 but have yet to complete it :? ...
No it is not the best in the series, only a person who hasn't played the series but Reach would say that, Halo 1 no Halo game will ever beat that game.
About 6 friends and I all bought Reach when it came out. We all got bored so quickly that we traded it in within a few weeks for Black Ops. I'm glad Bungie is done with HALO. The series has grown stale IMO.
@vvvZombievvv Must not have been that bad if you played it "tons of times"... Most people would give up on a game they hate after 2 or 3 goes. Just sayin...
Halo reach is an awsome game. Fails of the weeks are some of the funniest clips ive seen for gaming fails.
@penpusher That's not exactly true gamespot had a report a 3 or so months ago that showed reach was only just ahead of MW2 which was nearly a year old at that point and that was just the stats from xbox live
Reach was awsome!! I just went back to Borderlands for a little while. I will open black ops soon as long as it doesn't suck like MW2. ERRRR THAT GAME WAS ANNOYING EVEN WHEN YOU WIN!!
HALO REACH BLOWS. Worst multiplayer ever in the series. Bunige if your so cocky in showing your statics go compare you statics with MW2 and Black Ops
@AvnKnight I think youre confusing multi console stats with single console stats....on xbox halo reach is multiplayer king Besides within a year black ops will be forgotten when the next call of duty pops up with exactly the same multiplayer just with a few bells and whistles attached, like black ops did to MW2
@Avnknight, Yeh black ops is a mad game but play it through 1 or 2 times then thats the end. Halo is an all time clasic
I read a rumour section in an Xbox mag that said there could be a possible re-make of Combat Evolved with the Reach engine! would it suck or not???
@llamalad200: are you serious?!? Have you even set foot in forge world??? The possibilities are endless... ENDLESS!
@Avnknight: Every friend I know that has even attempted to play black ops quit playing that piece of crap game within a week and came back to halo or mw2...
So basically we take this number and times it by 10 to get the ammount of games played on blackOps just on the xbox, Lol halo wont ever be the most played game again on xbox.
@packers91 The DLC is not required to play any playlists other than the "Noble Map Pack" playlist. The message you are receiving in-menu is a RECOMMENDATION to purchase the DLC (which is well-worth it). Basically, you can still play multiplayer.
i love Reach, but I tried to play it online the other day, and I needed the DLC to play literally everything. so I went to play Halo 3 because I did not want to spend money on maps at that particular time
I personally like Halo Reach more than Halo 3. It was easier to get used to. It's definitely good to see that there were so many games played so quickly. This game is fun!
Bought Reach, played it for 157 hours, then sold it. Bought Black Ops, and so far have logged 218 hours. This Halo felt like a step back rather than a step forward to me. However, I understand they have fans, 33 billion kills. That's quite a milestone, congratulations Bungie on making another game that the masses gobble up and play religiously.
@howie1926 Bungie has allways been doing this they care about there community alot. They have the best stat keeping system ever for their games so why not show it off.
