Borderlands 2 sports 58-hour campaign

Also, you definitely will need to do PT2 to get to level 50.  PT1 pretty much will start getting you 1-10xp per kill in most places, once you are around Level 35, with all sidequests/mainquests completed.  So unless you want to go to one of the end-of-game area's, and farm it for probably 40+ hours, you will need to start PT2. 

And even the end-of-game area's will probably start giving 1-10xp per kill once you are around Level 40. 

After all sidequests/mainquests are completed though, you should be around Level 35.  Seems to be the level most people end up on, after completing everything.

I've got 65 hours on one character so far.  And just started PT2.  That is with completing all the sidequests though, along with the main quests.  And a BUNCH of exploring, and a bit of farming here and there. 

One of my other friends beat the game in 32 hours, with moderate sidequest completion, and minimal exploring/farming.

Honestly I don't see the main questline taking 58 hours for anyone.  I guess it all depends if you are solo/co-op, if you die alot, explore a lot, etc. 

I would say if you focus purely main quest, and ignore all side quests, and do minimal exploring, then you'd get 20-30 hours in to beat the main quest.  Just my guess though.  You may have to do SOME sidequests, in order to level up, if the main questline gets too hard for your level.

As far as sidequests affecting the main story...it surely doesn't seem like they do...maybe a different dialogue line, here or there...but it didn't seem like any of the sidequests would've altered the story at all.  They were mostly (go fetch this), or (go kill this), or the likes.

So if it is set up like the first then it will be 58hrs long and be set up to do two play throughs? Does anyone know the answer to this question. haha. Not that i would be to terribly upset if I did have to play through twice to level all the way up. MORE GUNS!!!!!

I'm wondering too if this is 58 hours on the main quest or if most of it is "fetch" and "kill this" side quests.

I may get this. 60hours is worthy of $60.

If that is side quests and all that's pretty weak... if that is main quest only that's awesome.

58 hours is most likely the main quests and majority of the side quests. With that being said, I purchased Borderlands 1 the week it was released. I think I have clocked over 160 hours on one character alone. Granted, that is probably 1/2 original game and 1/2 DLC but nonetheless, I got maximum gameplay out of the first game and this game is going to be larger. Aside from the missions and side missions, my friends and I did a lot of exploring, finding 'easter eggs', dueling, loot and xp farming, and agility feats (i.e. jumping from building to building or cliff to cliff, and seeing who could make it the farthest or climb the highest). There is a lot of messing around to do outside of just the standard quests. BL2 will allow you to 'wager' items when dueling your friends so that will probably add an entirely new element to gameplay. This is in additional to Bad Ass Points which I have read, are profile based so they will carry over from character to character. Lots of gameplay here.

WOW.. that's more than the first borderlands.. but I'll have that done in under a week.. It's Borderlands.. so I'll NEVER turn down borderlands EVER!!!!

I cannot wait for this! Loved the first and i know i'm going to love this sequel a whole lot more :)

Gibson did, however, later clarify that this particular gaming session consisted of about 50 hours of loading screens.

As far as it taking 58 hrs to complete, i would think those were the completionist testers; where they finished every single side quest and every other activity that the game offers. The longer the better to me!

Wow. That's at about 3x as long as i thought it would be and that's TOTALLY a good thing. :) Even more props to my friends at GB.

Length =/= quality. Also, I totally see how this is spin but whatever, this will be decided by the time of its release, which is shockingly soon.

They better not be bluffing like developers tend to do nowadays... This may not be entirely true.

Yeah, I'll take that with a few grains of salt.  It takes 58 hours to play through this just like there's "thousands and thousands of unique weapons" in the original Borderlands.  Sure, technically, maybe, but if the difference between one gun and another is the color of the barrel, I think you're pushing the definition of unique.  You probably "can" take 58 hours to play through it, but you can also probably do it in 15-20 and see just about everything there is too.

Hope it's more varid than the first. (Didn't even get halfway through). Before anybody diss' me and calls me a CoD fan, my favorite game is Skyrim and I'm working my way through the excellent inFamous series at the moment. I just- got bored with borderlands... the endless dusty waste/trash heaps and fighting hords of the same thing over and over... felt like a grind fest. I have seen ice/snow though so I have hopes of this one. (MORE ENVIRONMENTS! MORE DIVERSE ENEMYS! MORE STORY/LORE/POINT!) P.s. the weaponry is ok though :) 

Awesome! The first one was quality, much more gaming for your money unlike Call of (6 Hour campaign and same old same old) Duty

The first was so great there was no way I'b be passing on the 2nd anyway. This is just the cherry on top. Day 1

one of the biggest moments this year in gaming. I remember my wife and I clocking up a WHOLE day's worth of the first game one weekend and having red stinging eyes, bruised thumbs and LOTS OF LOOT :) that is one of the glorious things about Borderlands. Its is SUCH amazing value for money. and the DLC's weigh-in with equally HUGE game-time (Dr Ned's Zombie Island was practically a whole game on it's own!) cannot wait for this. truly cannot wait!

This game just keeps on getting better and better the more I hear about it. It's now my most anticipated game of the year. I am severly dissapointed in the severe lack of RPGs to hit consoles this fall/winter. I know Borderlands insn't a total RPG, but the elements of it is what I like most about it(that and the visual of the hit points falling off  the enemy as they are being shot). The game is just pure fun, and I expect the sequel to take that up at least another notch.

Man I remember when almost every game ever made in the history of ever was at least 40-50 hours of game play. Sad times, when this is news...even more sad when people are worried it may be "Too" long. 

Oh and after looking through the thread I see most people thought the game sucked as a single player game, but was great as a multiplayer experience. I had the exact opposite feel. I liked it better as a single player experience. Why? Because I like to play games on my own time. Once a friend gets involved it is only fun if you stick around the same level. It is also more fun to dig through the loot and try new stuff out at ones own pace.

When I play with friends it turns into a Diablo loot run - chasing the next objective as fast as possible instead of enjoying the experience. Maybe I don't have any friends and that is my problem, but I would like to think of it instead of I love my family more than my games. I play when I get time, not to keep pace with the others around my trying to play at the same time... borderlands multiplayer sucks balls for those that actually have loved ones instead of friends. 

This actually worries me a little bit. I can't picture 58 hours of unique FPS experience to be had with one game. I worry if this will be just another time sink with a lot of fetch quests and space between important events padding out the game. I'm tired of padding. I don't need another time sink, I need something entertaining. 

That said, I still like the idea that the game isn't over and done in 5 hours like a COD campaign either. and I'm still getting the game because I loved the first one so much... except for the expansions that kind of sucked. 

I wouldn't say exactly 58 hours. It took the writers for the guide 58 hours to finish the game. If it's it is though, then I hope they're meaningful not just some boring filler.

The animations look 10x better.

It's not specifically mentioned, but did the Guide Editor attempt to play through in a normal manner, or was it part of a guide coverage? As in, finding and killing every mob, looting every piece of uniquely modelled equipment and as many as it takes to get very familiar with every possible drop the game has, visiting every instance several times to play through for a slightly different talent build, and with a slightly different weapon or ammo, finding out if there are different outcomes to choices in the game, and so forth..

Just wondering, cause a 58 hour guide coverage playthrough is very, very little in a game like this. 58 hours in a normal play through is very, very much though. 

Wow, just wow. That is great! That, I assume, is just the main campaign as well. What about side missions and all that stuff? Oi. What a game. I can't wait. Though, the real questions is... is it bigger than SKYRIM?

It will take even longer for me to complete the game because of all the chaos I'll cause...

So a little over $1 per hour. That's better than the 10:1 some of the releases are selling. Day 1 purchase for sure when it comes to Boderlands 2.
