If they made a trainer that you cold hook up as a controller and it would give the trainer greater resistance as you went up hills then it would be playable. That way on the cold days I could just stay in and get a good workout.
Cyanide Studio pedaling official game based on annual cycling event to Xbox 360, PS3 this summer.
This year's Tour de France is getting a couple new stops, as Focus Home Interactive today announced that it will release a game based on the annual cycling race on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Europe on July 1.
Development duties on the title will be handled by Cyanide Studios, the outfit behind the most recent adaptations of Games Workshops' fantasy sports board game Blood Bowl. However, Cyanide has plenty of experience with actual sports, having created numerous installments in the Pro Cycling Manager series.
Unlike the management focus of Cyanide's previous cycling games, Tour de France: The Official Game will put players in control of a single rider through all 21 stages of the race. However, team management will still come into play, as players will build and erode alliances with their fellow cyclists throughout the race.
The actual Tour de France starts on July 2 and runs through July 24, with riders covering a total of 3,430.5 kilometers (2,132 miles) in that span. It will be the 98th time the race has been held.
As a HUGE cycling fan, I still can't see how this would work on a console. Is it a racing game? Or is it a sports manager game? the official game website is also pretty vague.
i think this has always been a strange title when they release the tour de france on any console ????
I love watching the Tour de France but have never tried one of the games. Maybe I'll have a look at this one then.......
This is about the 7th year in a row they have released this classic game and better every year. Dont knock it until u try it.
If I could play this game with my stationary bike as a controller I'd be interested. Otherwise, NFW.
C'mon... As if it wasn't boring enough to watch... oh well, sure there are some people who would want it :)
This game makes you wonder about people!??!?! How they thought this game would sell is a mystery!!!!
cycling does not make for interesting gameplay. whats it going to be pressing x repeatedly to go faster like in gta, or is gonna be like qwop with a button for each part of the leg? Either way sounds boring, cycling should only be a mini game like being part of an olympic game at best. not a standalone.
Even as a competitive cyclist/triathlete I wouldn't lay a finger on this game. The cover shows a dude in a time-trial position without an aero helmet. If you're a cycling fan you get it. What a joke.
I'd also rather just watch the tour, and I'd rather get waterboarded than watch the tour, so you can guess how interested I am in this game.
With everyone saying "this game won't take off" "why would anyone want to buy this game?!" Maybe you lot should think for a second, erm let's see, FIFA 10, why would anyone buy that? Cricket, why would anyone buy that? Darts, why would anyone buy that? In other words with all these sh1tty sports games that are out this is something different.
@ ahpuck I'll do you one better. Man Vs Food this last boss being a 300pound Triple Hamburger you have to eat in under 2hours.
wow, with games like this, I can't wait for them to release a 'pole vault championship' for kinect lol
Instead of complaining about this game, lets turn this into a game. Can anyone think of a worst idea than a Tour de France game? how about a game based on The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show?
@ Merex760 LOL why bother Kinect sucks. I've got a 360 and I got no reson to get Kinect. Real controler FTW. real controler > Kinect
It should be better than the last one, that was really really rubbish. It had like three generic stages and wasn't even accurate to any of the routes. I hope it's good, and has things like team orders, lead outs for the sprint finishes... and I hope they can get the Eurosport commentators for some commentry.
If they could somehow Kinect this where it would pick me up on my trainer it could be awesome for rainy days, or really cold days, when I can't get out. Seems like it wouldn't be too hard for the cameras to pick up my pedal work. Any decent rider spends time on a trainer. This could make that training time more fun.
yes definitely would be awesome to have something this good on a stationary bike, or something similar on a treadmill for running. But otherwise im not entirely sure how you'd play a cycling sim... lol
