Brutal Legend, God of War III set for Spike VGAs

Three years ago, Jack Black won a Spike TV Video Game Award in the category Best Performance By A Human - Male for his work on Ubisoft's adaptation of King Kong. In his acceptance speech, Black made sure to thank "all the people of the B******* Academy."

It appears the B******* Academy doesn't hold a grudge, given that Black has been tapped to host the cable network's 2008 gaming awards show. What's more, he'll be bringing along a gameplay trailer for Brutal Legend, the much-anticipated Double Fine Productions game that stars Black as rock-band roadie Eddie Riggs.

Brutal Legend was among a slate of Vivendi Games projects dropped in May after the publisher finished its merger with Activision. Although most of the big-name abandoned projects have since found homes, Brutal Legend remains without an announced publishing deal.

In addition to the first glimpse of Brutal Legend gameplay, Spike is promising to premiere looks at nine other upcoming games, chief among them the PlayStation 3 debut of Kratos in God of War III. Other games to be shown include the just-announced Uncharted 2, Fight Night Round 4, Mafia II, Terminator Salvation, and Watchmen: The End is Nigh.

Spike TV's 2008 Video Game Awards will air live on Sunday, December 14, at 9 p.m. Eastern (tape delayed on the West Coast).

    just how big do you think sony is compared to square enix? im not talking about games made, im talking about popularity, not just in the U.S. either.

    xXDiabolicXx ,no offense,but the FF series is made by Squaresoft.Where as God Of War is made in house by sony,so there is no one to betray.Sorry I don't see sony letting this trilogy of there console anytime soon.

    All you ps3 tards that are bragging about how the 360 will never get gow3, have obviously never heard of what sony gave to us 360 owners yet. Final Fantasy XIV, a very loyal playstation title, was recently added to the soon to be 2010 360 game collection. So if u all believe a mere trilogy couldn't make its way to the xbox, think about the 13th continuation of the hottest RPG on the market to betray its former "exclusive" owner

    If You played GOW one and heart about The Wings (they were in the drafts of the game, but never made the final cut), they are visible (im not saying usable) in the 6th (and so far last) Gameplay shot on the GOW3 Page, and they looking goddamn awesome, hopefully they make it this time.

    I doubt that any game can look 10x better then every game out so far. There's only so much a game can do to look good and we're about at the peak of graphic technology for video games.

    For those of you wondering about the graphical limits of the PS3, check out God of War 3. If its graphics aren't better than any game's out so far, the PS3 is a graphical failure. But no worries, because it's gonna have 10 times better graphics than anything out so far.

    Sony is gonna own this show. God of War III AND Uncharted 2 trailers? Oh **** yes! My bet is that LittleBigPlanet walks away with GOTY, If not I think it'll be GTA IV.

    I really think GOWIII will be better than MGS4. GOW is by far the BEST action game I have played and I've been waiting for the third one to come out ever since I beat the second one on the first day it came out

    Oh my God of War III will probably be as good as Metal Gear Solid 4. The king of the PS2 arrives to the next gen. If God of War looked so good on the PS2 I'm afraid Kratos might jump out of the television after David Jaffe said God of War 3 has ten times better graphics than Gears of War 2 which I own and in par graphically to MGS4! Can't wait

    God of war 2 on the ps2 looked awesome, God of war 3 on the ps3 is going to be EPIC!!!!

    Terminator salvation and uncharted 2 will be great also.

    Spike does a Saturday night game show every week. "Game Trailers" is a 1/2 hour at 11:30pm central time.Sony has 2 exclusives- the rest is multi-platform......

    Brutal Legend would be great if they replaced the main character. I love Tony Iommi and Dio, but Jack Black still being a part of the game makes me want to avoid it like the plague.

    Schaefer is the man and shame on anyone that didn't pick up psychonauts. download it on xbx live now! hopefully brutal legend won't go the same way that game did, all the critical acclaim and no one buy's it. gow 3 is gonna be a monster! i hope they keep the formula the same and don't over do it. none of that motion sensitive crap. stick to what got the series this far.

    I think David Jaffe is in the development since he said he was interested in developing it. He's the co-founder of his studio anyway soo.

    Thank goodness Brutal Legend is still alive. Anything made by Tim Schaefer and voiced by Jack Black has to be awesome!
    God of War 3 and Uncharted 2!!! 2009 will be a great year for Sony if they don't screw up these two pearls.

    GOD or War 3? No Cory Balrog, or David Jaffe as creative director? When David Jaffe left as creative director I was'nt to sure about GOD of War 2. Then I found out Corey had actually been there since the creation of the first game. I think he did a better job than Jaffe. I dont know about this... I hope sony doesnt mess up Kratos. This is the second reason to own a ps3, and if they drop the ball on this what do they have left? Other than Final Fantasy 13 this is all they got going for them.... I wish they would wake up and smell the coffee. Microsoft did what was right since the beginning!! They listened to the fans. I love my X-box 360!!

    Yeah, some things in GoW2 simply puts in shame a lot of PS3 and X360 games -specially first and second gen games- and graphically, almost every game on WII... No BS here, in the campaign of GoW2 you keep looking at things that take your breath away... Is incredible what the old, under-powered PS2 manages to handle.
