DBZ demo Bursts onto XBL, PSN

In January, Atari said it would be powering up its lucrative Dragon Ball Z license on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with DBZ: Burst Limit for the first time. With the game's June 10 ship date quickly approaching, the publisher is giving fans an advance look with a demo, available for download now through the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

In the full retail version, more than 20 playable characters will be on hand to level various environments in five different modes. The game will meld cel-shaded art with high-definition visuals, and both versions will boast online play over their respective networks.

Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is in development at Japanese studio Dimps and Namco Bandai Games. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's most recent preview.

Demo only provides two quick levels, Goku Vs. Raditz and Yamcha Vs. Saibamen, just a quick run thru the battle system really. The game will end at the end of the Cell Saga, no Majin/Buu Saga. I think this'll be the best DBZ fighter out to date, especially with the prospects of world wide Z tournaments!

it's really annoying! not the game of course, rather, my situation. I assume you guys who say you've played the demo live in the US, cuz the Burst Limit demo isn't on playstation store here in europe. That sucks! I can't wait to get the game, which is being released on the 6th of June in the UK, but have to wait until my exams are over. I'd be able to handle that more if I could get ahold of the demo.

This game looks like it will be worth picking up i personally liked the way all of the charecters moved, instead of the slow pased fighting style most fighting games have you can see the different body parts moving in a blur for all the attacks to keep the dbz fighting way i think this game will be a hit for dbz and fighting game fans all around

I love this game, its fast paced like a DBZ title should be. Everything seems balanced, most attacks can be easily dodged or vanish dodged- countered with a well timed guard button press but at a risk of going into fatigue if you do it too much. Pursuit attacks are quite easy to pull off, you just have to know which attacks can be followed up with one and press the pursuit button as soon as the prior attack hits your opponent. I am a HUGE dbz fan and this is definitely a day 1 purchase for me and I am looking forward to destroying you guys online with Vegeta.

Tech-head isnt flaming the game, he's just flaming Dimps for milking more money out of us by giving us half the DBZ saga now and in the future the other half instead of taking the time to really flesh it out and give us the total package.

i never played a DBZ game before but i used to love the series when i was younger and i love fighting games. whenever i'd play a fighting game though, i would always wish the battles would last a lot longer, and i always imagined what it would be like in a fight to fly around and shoot people with energy etc. and let me tell you, it's a hell lot of fun. i can't compare to any old DBZ games, but man it looks great, the action is very very fast paced and intense, it's a great button-masher, all you need to know is punch, kick, block, and (ki?) energy, and just make up your own combos and something good will come out. the super kamehameha looks amazing, and the flying and hitting people across the screen and zapping outta the way and everything is sooooo much fun it never gets old. i must've played the two matches the demo came with about 10 times each in the past 2 days. loads of fun, i am definitely buying this.

Quote From "expert-gamer" ...rofl : I have been collecting DBZ Budokai games ever since the first one came out, and before DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2 & 3 came out, my favorite was DBZ Budokai 3. At first, I was disappointed with the change they made in the series with Tenkaichi, but then it started to seem much better than the first three games, especially with team battle. I was considering buying Burst Limit, until I heard that it only goes up to the Cell saga. Considering this, and what I have seen of the game so far, that would make this game just a remake of DBZ Budokai 1, just with prettier graphics, and that's lame. It makes no since to continue making games that just go over the sames sagas that you've already played through, especially when there are many battles from Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT that have been either left out or very brief in previous games. For the first time, I think I gonna have to skip a DBZ game, it just doesn't seem to include that much..........................................
    .......................
    ...................
    ...............
    .........
    ......
...........and also because I don't have a Playstation 3 or an Xbox 360.

Uhm, how can you consider buying Burst Limit if you don't even have a PS3 or an Xbox 360? Way to put the game down. Douche.

    @09231991,

Lol. You have serious issues. You are putting things in my mouth that I never said. But that's OK.

Yes I have played the demo. Played it several times, because like you, I love DBZ. Have every single episode of the Z and GT series. So what? My argument was never that I don't like the game.

You obviously can not understand what I am saying. So keep believing all the bull that Donny Clay shovels your way about this being the first next gen DBZ game and blah blah blah.

I am trying to get people like you to see that Namco wants to rip you off by selling you one game in three installments of $60 code. It has never been about ripping the game.

Stop being so damned sensitive. The brainwashing comment was meant to get people's attention.

If you want to get the game, get it. Like I said it is a free country. But I stand by everything I said and believe it or not, it was to try to help. Sue me.

    @ Tech-head,

First of all, why are you even here?? You obviously don't like the game at all, so why are you here commenting on it. And secondly, why is it that every time someone as stupid as you has to throw into your argument that someone is being "brainwashed" just because they like something you don't? Does Namco, Bandai, Dimps and all the other companies involved in this series sit around a big meeting table with a big crystal ball and send out brain controlling waves at all DBZ lovers around the world? No, they heard our plea. Tenkaichi is being recognized as the worst of the series and they finally understood that tenkaichi is used up at this point and went back to what was being cherished and loved the most, the original Budokai style fighting. Also, as a very unknown fact, Its also been stated by Dimps (or Donny Clay to be more exact) that this is the first game they've made using next-gen technology. For their first time use and probably only a little over a year and a half of work, this is very impressive. Now that they've acquainted themselves with the tech, now they can make the sequels bigger and way better than the first. The reason why a lot of us are saying this game is awesome and that we're buying it is because we've all longed for a budokai style fighting for over 3 years since the release of tenkaichi. I mean, have you been reading comments on the internet about this game. So many people thought just like, "Oh, I'm gonna wait till 3 and this and that" but then they try out the demo and now they're buying it. Let me ask you something. You haven't stated once that you've actually tried the demo out. Have you? Have you even been watching vids or are you just sitting on the side and judging as if you know everything about it. Please, take holyjim's advice to heart because what he said was very true. Don't judge before you play. If you don't want to shell out the $60, then go spend $8 or $7 and rent it or get it online for real cheap or w/e but don't come on here and start saying we're brainwashed and idiotic and such because we want to buy what we like. You know, I saw you comment on the Hulk preview board. You think that game looks good, right? How would you like it if I said that everyone who liked that game (including you) was being brainwashed by the company who's making that game? That game looks a lot like the original, but just better looking and a few tweaks here and there. So next time don't open your big friggin mouth and insult others just because they want to buy something that they love. I love DBZ and will buy the games that come out because I'm a die hard fan, just like a lot of others. The reason why I stated quality over quantity was because Tenkaichi tried to cover up its crapiness by throwing in over 160 characters and some that didn't even make sense. With BL, the point is to have less characters (Well, good characters that actually make sense) and to have a more diversified character set-up and such. I mean, even Gamespot, a site that doesn't really give a sh!t about these types of games is actually getting excited about it and promoting it. This game is getting praised by even hardcore fighting fans as well, thats huge for this game. If can't understand after this, then fine, I don't give a sh!t. But this is the last thing I'm gonna comment on this page for. And please, don't comment on this out of hatred or anger, in fact, don't comment me back at all.

    -PEACE

    @ holyjim,

Who is judging the game?? Have you seen me say it was a bad or good game?

Whether the game is good or bad has no bearing on what I am saying.

It is very simple. All I am saying is that Namco/ Bandai is purposely leaving out content so that they can sell you one whole game in three installments. That is fact. That is so blatantly obvious that I don't see how anyone can argue that.

It is not, nor has it ever been, about Namco/ Bandai et al, giving us quality over quantity. The DBZ story is over! Most everyone that will buy a DBZ game knows the story. There are no more surprises because there are no more new stories. There is no reason to make a game based on a series that ended well over ten years ago, and release the story in increments lol. They have already made 6 other games that have told the story lol. Why would they start over again for the third time lmao? Let me guess. Because they want to give all the DBZ faithful a quality game right? Wrong. It is about milking a franchise, that's all.

Again, there is no DBZ movie coming out in June 2008. So why are they rushing a game to come out in June that is missing half the story and many popular characters, when the last DB game came out in Oct or Nov of 2007, as if this was an Incredible Hulk game that needs to be out alongside the motion picture? Raise your hand if you think that a BL 2 and probably a BL 3 game will come out in the next couple of years. Everybody's hand should be up. I am not saying the game is good or bad. And if people are happy to buy BL 1, 2, and 3 for $60 each, then hey... it's a free country. But at least stop deluding yourselves into thinking that they are doing this to benefit you, the fans, like a lot of these posts are claiming. Just understand that I am trying to tell you that you would be better off waiting on BL 3, and get the game with everything for $60, instead of buying 3 games for $180, just to end up in the same place as if you waited.

That's all that I was ever saying. Sorry if that goes against the majority opinion.

Tech-Head, I think it is extremely unfair to judge a game, or any media before it is released. I know you're making a general statement about the new tip off DLC trend, but you have absolutely no clue how much conent will be in the game, besides the amount of characters. Just wait, I see no reason why not to hope for the best.

@ 09231991 and all others that think like him,

Lol. You just don't get it.

Your argument makes no sense and you don't even see it. You say that you applaud the quality over quantity of 20 characters and then say that in the next game they will add another 20 characters. If the game is still good with 40 in BL 2, then why are you happy with 20 in BL 1 lol?

It's not your fault. You are not alone in your brainwashing as evidenced by all the negatives that anyone that doesn't blindly love this game gets lol.

I am not nor did I ever say that I was a fan of the Tenkaichi series. Budokai 3 was in my opinion the best of the recent DBZ games. So anyone trying to argue that I am attacking the game because I want 150 characters, is sadly mistaken.

The point is, the DBZ story is over. The DB GT story is over. There are no new episodes or movies of either. So my problem is why is everyone OK with them rushing this game. The last DB game came out less than a year ago (Oct or Nov I forget). There is no movie to tie-in. No real deadline that needs to be met. So why can't they just wait till next year or whenever and put in all the sagas and all the additions that we all know are coming? Again, the DB story is over. Just give us an ultimate DB game. This isn't Madden. The roster of DBZ characters is not going to change nor will the story lol.

The answer is that Namco/ Bandai/ Atari/ Dimps know that the lemmings will be more than happy to spend $180 for what is really only one complete game.

I also want a quality game with individualized character move sets (Tenkaichi was a joke in that regard, but the Budokais weren't much better). But if you can't understand that this is a money thing I don't know what to say.

Stop living in a dream world and thinking that Namco/ Bandai/ Atari/ Dimps has your best interest at heart and is only trying to give you a quality product by limiting content. No!!!! They just want you to pay $60 for a game that is 33% complete. Now go ahead and give me negative feedback but somebody needs to be the voice of reason.

    @Wik_Wanderlust
you didnt like the Bourne Conspiracy? That game reminds me of Shenmue with the quick action button thingy and everything seems fluid and fast paced! I cant wait to get that one either!

Beautiful......Oh so beautiful! I can not believe how far this game has come from the first fighting one for the ps2, I just hope Burst Limit has Broly and Krillin because they were my favorite in the series!

This series has been beaten to a pulp already... why buy the same game over and over... watch the anime once and then go watch better anime (to forget it) and wait for street fighter.... lol
