Indie Spotlight - Classic Night
The Age of Darkness is upon us. The Moon loses more and more light each day. Rabbits, wolves, little (light stealing) men chase you down as you must collect light for the Moon. Classic Night has it all: a bit of strategy, arcade, construction, and simulation. You play as a character named Harigol, a walking (well dressed) skeleton, hired by the Moon to collect magical light to make the Moon brighter than the Sun. You create street lamps, candle sticks, and more fueling an infinite supply of light.

But be warned, collecting light is not as easy as it sounds. Rabbits, creepy looking wolves, and little (light stealing) men block you from absorbing light and building structures making you vulnerable to their attacks.

You are given a quick two level tutorial explaining the controls, building structures and allies that help you along the way. After you build structures, a friend, which looks like Frankenstein, helps you replenish dim street lamps and candles. This friend becomes useful in the later stages as light is harder and harder to absorb.

The art direction in this game, as well as the beautiful score, unique level design all compliment this wonderfully created indie game. Check out Classic Night, and many other free indie games on the GameSpot Downloads Page. Till next time download…download…download!

Download of the Week - GRID v1.1 Demo
If you're looking for a racing fix then look no further, The Grid v1.1 Demo has it all. This demo offers three events to choose from, one drifting and two racing tracks. Within those three events you are given a specific car suitable for each race. The demo also includes manual adjustments, multiple difficulty settings, and the ability to play with your Xbox 360 controller.
The download and installation time was relatively quick, and the look and feel of the game didn't lose much quality compared to the console versions. I didn't tweak my visual settings much, but there's enough to play around with to fit your standards. The visuals still looked amazing on the normal settings.
After beating all three tracks on all difficulty settings I still found myself wanting to replay this demo over and over again. The tracks never get boring, and if you want to have more fun drive backwards and watch the crashes on the instant replay. The ability to redo a crash with the save me feature comes in as a nice bonus. Enjoy! You can find this demo and others like it on the GameSpot Downloads Page!

Indie Spotlight - Closure
From the beginning you start in a dark world, setting the mood and feel for what's to come. Through a simple tutorial you're taught all of the mechanics to move around and solve all of the upcoming puzzles. Right away you find new unique ways to accomplish your tasks, as your main goal is to simply make it to a door and move on, but as you go along the journey becomes more complex than that.

To guide you through this dim and dark world are orbs of light that allow you to manipulate shadows and unlock other parts of the puzzle that help you move from one end to the other. Along the way you discover other orbs that serve different purposes than just light, making your once simple path complex.
Closure is a fun and eerie indie game that manipulates the way we think to bring a new gaming experience. Check out Closure, and many other free indie games on the GameSpot Downloads Page. Till next time download...download...download!

Download of the Week - BioShock Demo
It's pitch black, and fire is blazing all around you. Drowning in a sea of oil, you gasp for air, and notice a tall tower in the middle of nowhere. Swimming to it out of desperation, you locate safety and comfort, but in an eerie place. Looking back at the ocean of fire you feel lucky to be alive.

Cold, wet, and tired you enter the structure in search of warmth, only to feel a sense of dread begin to crawl down your spine. Continuing on you find a vessel, and without hesitation you jump in. The lights go dark as the vessel begins to descend into the watery abyss. An underwater dive that seems like it could take hours turns into seconds, and your eyes finally settle on the city of Rapture.

BioShock is a truly unique experience. I've beaten the entire game on the Xbox 360 and on the PS3 , but never on PC since I didn't own a version of the game. Looking through the GameSpot database , I noticed we had a demo, so I downloaded it and played it right away. Instantly, I was enjoying the scares and excitement of BioShock all over again. The eerie belches of the Big Daddies and the weird mutterings of Splicers in the shadows all add to this amazing and wonderful demo.

The demo lets you sample the early portions of the underwater city of Rapture. After playing this game three times I still can't get enough of BioShock . Enjoy! You can find this demo and others like it on the GameSpot Downloads Page !
