Indie Spotlight: Sol Survivor
Tower defense games are always fun and addictive. I’m not sure if it’s the simple formula or the act of killing enemies with an arsenal of weapons that draws people into these games. Sol Survivor, an indie game on Xbox Live, captures this addictive nature -

Football Manager 2010 Strawberry Demo
Today Sega released the demo for Football Manager 2010 in two flavors vanilla and strawberry. The vanilla demo features the English and Scottish leagues, with no player photos or logos, so as to reduce the size of the download. The strawberry demo, which I recommend if you're a footballer like me, includes all player pictures and logos, with quickstarts for some of the world leagues.

Although the demo size is just above 1 GB, it will be worth all the features included. You can find Football Manger 2010 vanilla and strawberry demos and many other games at the GameSpot Downloads Page.

Vietnam Glory Obscured: Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour Mod
Vietnam Glory Obscured is a total conversion of Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. The game includes tutorial, skirmish, and multiplayer modes. There's only the USA faction to choose from, but more factions will follow with updates. The install is quick and made easy with an .exe file.

There are multiple units to choose from, and the combat mechanics use a Company of Heroes' battle system. It's better to attack with infantry and tanks instead of either unit alone. Most units are unlocked from the get—go, and more are available with general promotions.

The money system is like that of Zero Hour, but with a Company of Heroes twist where you take over villages and more to get additional money. A morale system also adds an additional source of funds and is based on the rebuilding or destruction of villages, the number of villagers killed in action, and more.

Although there's only one faction to choose from, you can be sure that more will follow with additional updates. Wait for those updates if you haven't bought the game just yet. For now, the skirmish and multiplayer capabilities give this mod a high replay value. You can check out this mod and many more at the GameSpot Downloads page.

Research and Development - Half-Life 2: Episode Two Mod
A lot of HL2 mods that I've played all require some firearm to get past any enemies I come by. What Research and Development does is strip you of your firearms and equip you with a gravity gun, bug pheromones and more. The opening scene's leaves you questioning where you actually are and how in the heck you got there in the first place. You start off witnessing headcrabs being executed and then returning the favor to some combine.
From the beginning the puzzles are a bit difficult and mix between medium and hard. The visuals have great detail and the high structures give a great depth of field to the surroundings. The puzzles are a delight and the combat even more.

The Polynomial Demo
This demo includes 10 levels to choose from, multiple difficulty levels, game adjustments and more. The visuals are beautiful and can also be adjusted to what you can handle. The visual default setting is calm, but you can bump up the graphics if you're up to the task.

The gameplay is easy as you use your mouse wheel for acceleration and the mouse for direction. Your enemies are easy at first, but they become progressively difficult as there tacticts change each level.

You can download this game here and many others at the GameSpot Downloads Page. Till next time download, download, and download.

Dyson v1.20 Free Game
Dyson 1.20 is the build Alex May and Rudolf Kremers had at the Independent Games Festival. The game is now smoother with a couple rule changes and better visuals. In order to take an asteroid you must plant a tree, where before you just took it over.
I've played the first couple levels of this new build, and the gameplay overall has gotten a bit quicker with unit and enemy movement. The added colors help the dull background, but the soundtrack still needs improvement. I found myself pulling one earpiece off, because the music was distracting. Dyson is shaping up to be a huge hit once it releases on Steam and Direct 2 Drive.

For those of you unfamiliar with Dyson check out the description below,
"Dyson is an ambient real-time strategy game with abstract visuals. Remotely command semi-autonomous self-replicating mining machines to take over an entire asteroid belt"

If you're a fan of real-time strategy and independent games then download Dyson here! You can download this game and many others at the GameSpot Downloads Page.
