Blizzard planning complete Diablo lore book

They are just waiting for the Star Wars The old republic release date, so they can let's say, diminish the damage that Wow is going to suffer by the hands of the Jedi xD

These guys need to spend less time swimming in their real life gold and more time working on their games.

I like the sound of this. I wish we could see this more often. I just hope that the book itself will encompass all of the lore of Diablo, as this would be really neat and insightful. I love to read about mythology and legends. Lore from my favorite video games make the game that much better.

That would be the most awesome preorder bonus ever.

I really could care less about the console ports to be honest. Just want my mouse and keyboard. Oh yeah, and a release date. :)

by the time diablo 3 is released for the pc and ps3 the ps3 will no longer be made and they will be onto the ps6 and the program they used will be useless so they will need to start again from the begining so stop delaying with the game and release it soon or you will have no loyal fans of diadlo left to play the game

Why do you guys assume it's the same people working on the book and the game? That said, I can't wait for both!

Maybe if I have grandkids they will visit me at the nursing home and tell me how the game turned out.

Blizzcon in October 21-22 really wouldnt suprise me if we have a release date for PC! Yes I have heard that August the beta should be starting. I dont expect the game to run 100% perfect at first online but I bet a few patches and we should be sorted. It should be early 2012 at the latest its released. Personally I think they will try to release it just before xmas to get the huge sales in.

Diablo 3 is coming 2012. No doubt about it. They just have to finish the console ports, but the pc version is ready, beta test will start very soon

this will go perfect with my copy of diablo 3

seriously blizzard, no one cares about that book, just make something useful and complete the game and release it before we're all dead

@thuban. You are right!! I myself have been guilty of thinking that blizzard should hurry up, but I have never truly wanted them to rush development because I want a good game. When they take their time we all get blessed with truly awesome games. So what if it takes a long time for them to get the game to us, when that glorious day finally occurs we will all be enjoying the hell out of it and forgetting about how long it took.

its amazing how many comments are being made about tellin bliz to finish the game... i mean cmon.. .. 1) this novel is done by the story dev team NOT the game dev team.. so the game is still at full speed ahead development...and 2) the game isnt taking forever to release because of a novel.. its cause they want it perfect... and be fair, when was the last time Bliz didnt make their games world class polished for the sake of delays.. WHEN its released. u know it will be done RIGHT not fast..

I doubt the makers of the novel are the same people making/polishing the game. All this talk of doing the game rather than the novel is nonsense. If you have free writers i say use them.

Well, Blizzard COULD write a novel about Diablo lore, OR they can re-release the original Diablo, or at least make it available for digital download or retail again. It is ridiculous that the only way they can possibly make money off the first Diablo is to sue people for pirating a game they no longer make sales revenue from. Or the least they can do is release SOME modding tools for the new Diablo. I don't call it a step forward for Blizzard to step down from being openly hostile to modders to simply being "not supporting" moddings (I'm quoting them). I love Diablo. Its a great game. But Blizzard are being total a-holes who care more about exploiting their fanbase than serving them- even though their games are so profitable that extra money isn't necessary. If the next torchlight comes out with modding tools, I guarantee the modding community will make a better Diablo, because Blizzard hasn't taken advantage of what the community can offer them.

There's a story in Diablo? I'm not saying I didn't enjoy D1 and D2, but they were basically looting monsters in a box. I'm still trying to figure out what's so awesome about D3 too. Can someone explain it to me because it looks like the Xbox Arcade dungeon crawlers are the same game play for 25% of the price and they're available now.
