Black Ops II gets $180 Care Package edition

Premium console bundle packs in RC drone, multiplayer maps, soundtrack; Hardened and PC Digital Deluxe versions revealed.

Gamers with a passion for Call of Duty and a desire to show it with their wallets for Black Ops II in November will have multiple premium bundles to choose from. Activision today announced three premium Black Ops II bundles: the Care Package and Hardened Edition for consoles, and the Digital Deluxe Edition for PC.

The $180 Care Package edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops II packs in a host of premiums, the first of which is a remote-control MQ-27 Dragonfire drone (pictured at right). In addition, the Care Package includes the Nuketown Zombies and Nuketown 2025 bonuses maps, as well as a two-sided steelbook case, two challenge coins used to unlock "exclusive" digital content, and multiplayer weapon camo.

Additionally, the Care Package edition of Black Ops II features a digital copy of the game's official soundtrack, which features a score by Jack Wall (Mass Effect, Army of Two) and a theme composed by Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor.

The Xbox 360 version of the Black Ops II Care Package includes an avatar prop and costume, while the PS3 version packs in a dynamic theme of the game's Turbine map, as well as a zombie-focused theme.

As for the other premium versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, the Hardened Edition (below right) will be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 for $80. It includes everything found in the Care Package edition except for the Dragonfire drone and the case.

Lastly, the Digital Deluxe edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the PC includes everything in the Hardened Edition (except for the Xbox 360 and PS3 items), as well as a token to download Treyarch's 2008 shooter Call of Duty: World at War.

The $100 Hardened Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 included a one-year subscription to Activision's premium online service Call of Duty: Elite, but no mention whatsoever was made of Elite in today's announcement for any of the offerings. Activision did not respond to requests for clarification as of publication time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is due out on November 13 and is a sequel to 2010's original Black Ops, which is the best-selling series entry to date, moving more than 25 million copies as of August 2011. It even outsold the most recent entry in the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, during July 2012. For more on the upcoming game, check out GameSpot's latest preview.

Whoever buys this is a drone.

The build quality of that drone is probably pretty bad, I doubt it costs much, the package is definitely not worth 180$.

...and I hate paying $60 for a game.  $180??  No thank you.

the last breath of air that is left of the call of duty series/franchise is zombies

Activision are very clever here, the drone may seem like a great deal but it's not. You can actually buy something similar and better for under £40 ($60). Considering what your getting it seems like a massive rip off, the drone is just there to inflate and justify a $180 price tag.

So this is like the second most expensive collectors to date next to Dirt 3's $300 collectors edition in the US (Yes I know there is a $1000+ Collectors edition of Resident Evil 6In Japan). Considering what you get it's not too bad but you would have to be a hardcore C@ck of Duty fan to really want it.

wow 180 bucks ill pass sorry but for 180 i can pre order games buy a new game and acouple of pre owned ill pass i see this as a ploy just to get more money

Honestly, if it was for a game franchise I liked, I would think a deal like this might be kind of cool. If people like the game THAT much, who cares if they get to have their uber-super-special-metal-collectors-jumbo edition? Coming from a company like Activision, it's a lot less cynical than expecting everyone to pay $60/year for Elite.

Oh No.

I cant imagine spending $80 bucks for the hardened addition but I the main reason I buy call of duty is for zombies.

Why couldn't nuketown zombies just come with the game? Now i have to decide if it is worth an additional 20 Dollars.

@ajahib Same here.  If Treyarch made a zombies-only game, I'd get it.

Might have to buy the nuketown zombies as a DLC.

Sorry I don't need World at War I already have it and maxed out my level and all my guns in one game thanks to a hacker, what a nice guy. That's all of activision games for ya, hacked and screwed up after the first year because they don't care anymore. So why pay do much money for a game that only gets care for one year makes no sense.

i honestly don't see why you would pay close to $200 for all this, or even $60 for a new CoD... Save your money and buy Farcry 3, Red Orchestra Rising Storm, and Watch Dogs; all amazing, innovative, fun as hell upcoming games for the price of this.

Guys, this is not okay. This is a video game. Do not tell them this is okay by buying this.

travo0159

@Deadly_Nemesis why isnt it ok? most big hitter game titles are coming out with special edition stuff. There are some collectors out there that like those special little trinkets and if its their desire to spend the extra cash let them. No, the entire set may not be worth the money but thats what 3arch wants for it, at least you get some physical items to have as your own as opposed to the $50 special services that Premium and Elite has to offer.

travo0159

i was like - this close to getting it, but decided to get the regular version (which still comes with nuketown), then preorder Borderlands 2, Halo4, and AC3, yeah a bit more than $180 but at the end of the day i spent my money more wisely. (not that buying games is a good use of monies cuz really it aint)

I think 90% of this game's player base just asked mom and dad for a raise in their allowance to pay for it. ;-)

@korosaki-ichigo From my experience, the Battlefield community really would prefer if CoD players stuck to CoD. So you probably won't find many Battlefield players who mind it if you think it's a bad game.

The great thing about being "offered" something is that you don't actually need to take them up on the offer. You don't need to buy it, people, this isn't the Soviet Union. I'm sure as hell not getting it, but I don't see the harm in having the option out there.

@flyinknee91 ^ this. I would never spend the money on this (or another CoD in general <_<), but if you want to, go for it champ.
