First add-on pack for Treyarch's shooter dropping for Sony's console worldwide early next month; PC still not yet dated.
Yesterday Activision announced it had disbanded its Guitar Hero unit and that is has poured more resources into its Call of Duty franchise. While Activision's long-term vision for the shooter series is not yet known, the immediate future is.
According to a post on the PlayStation Blog from Treyarch community manager Josh Olin, the First Strike map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops will arrive on Sony's PlayStation 3 on March 3. It will bear the same $15 price point of its Xbox 360 counterpart, which debuted on February 1.
As for the content, the map pack includes four new multiplayer environments ranging in locale from the Berlin Wall in Germany to a North American hockey rink. The add-on also bundles one environment for the game's zombie mode dubbed Ascension.
When the content arrives for Sony's console in March, the PC will be the only platform to not yet welcome First Strike. Activision has announced that the content will arrive for the PC sometime later in the quarter but has yet to affix a price or release date for the digital wares.

BOYCOTT they didnt fix the game still and they want us to buy a new dlc for it, no way. I wish you could return games and get your money back. If it was the case this game would never had made has much money bc half of the people who bought would have return it.
i rather buy killzone 3. map pack should be free or sold for at least $2 dolors since u buy the game for 60 bucks activision if u keeps this up cod fans will stop playing cod
I won't buy this maps, they are quite expensive and they should be free. Activision should include a map engine so we could make our own maps and share them with everyone like in little big planet. I would rather to buy my limited edition of KillZone 3 than let activision have my money. Go to hell activision, you have become what you hated the more, you are like atari in the old times, the company where the founders of activision used to work
@jobo030 "I still love how micosoft was so proud that they were getting the dlc first. Wow a whole month..." same here
stupid dlc. it should be published on the same day to all videogames, pc,ps3 and xbox not just xbox since there is no change on maps or any improvement.
Pretty dumb to wait til after KZ3's release to offer the DLC. BOs is so laggy with its crappy P2P, there's no comparison to KZ3 and its proper dedicated servers. Plus BO has frame rate and hit detection issues galore.
The article did fail to mention the Wii hasn't been confirmed. I was sure that the PC version was mentioned at the same time as the PS3. To everyone who complains about this game, you need to stop buying games unless you really need them. Take me for instance, I only bought Black Ops on the Wii because it has zombie mode which was never on a Wii console before. Have you guys got something entirely original? If not, you have to question why you bought it in the first place. Don't buy every single game in every single franchise. You'll only get bored, I promise you.
yeah I heard these maps aren't that great and it sucks they are squeezing more money after we already pay $60. I think the game industry is changing and are charging more. Specially now if you buy a second hand game you have to pay to play online or how your game will only work for one console. The worst part about it is that people will pay for it. A lot of people say they won't but we all know that some little brats parent will pay for it to shut them up.
So a measly one month wait. How many Black Ops fans on the PS3 side died or expect to die in that time? I thought Black Ops was crap, sold it after 2 weeks to get what I paid for it back in full. And I never bought any map packs for any of the games either, only got the one for COD4 since I got it free with the GOTY edition. They are far too overpriced at $3 or more per map.
@laplace985 ....and look at the IW forums to see how much of an effort they are interested in putting into fixing the hackfest that has rendered that game unusable. I have been waiting for weeks now hoping to see that thread updated. Its ok though, they already have yours, mine, and everybody elses 100 bucks, so no worries for them. As you said -"never again".
lol now I remember why I passed on blackops. I spent a 100$ on modernwarfare 2 and all the map packs. Never again
Lets see!! Overprice DLC map pack on one side and KZ3 and other games on the other. Hmm, this is a tough choice, but I am going to go with option 2. No offense COD, just a smart business move..
No thanks, overpriced DLC isn't interesting. I have had more fun playing Medal of Honour online than BO, so CoD must try harder... Edit: And for those saying they'll wait for a price drop: Check the price of MW2s map packs, they are still at launch price...
@TheBest88 It sucks because its exactly the same content some people were dumb enough to buy last year and the year before that, when Modern Warfare 1 and 2 came out. The online is okay but not when its 4/5 of the entire game... I might as well have bought MAG.
I had an Xbox then I bought a PS3 2 months ago and sold the Xbox a week later. PS3>Xbox even with the early content. Black Ops is ok but I'm not going to pay $15 for a couple maps that get thrown into the mix every 16 games. Plus, I'll be getting Homefront a week or 2 later.
attention cod bo owners... trade this game in. its boring. and anyone ever notice the initials for this iteration? BO? yes, this game STANK UP my xbox collection. i traded in 4 games, 2 on each side. it made me dislike those games that bad.
don't care sick of cod activision isn't getting my money any more ill be buying killzone 3 and bulletstrom F@$K YOU ACTIVISION
I might buy it if the price drops a lot; though I'll be busy with KZ3 by then. My bro has a 360 and I played the new maps (except the zombies one) online all weekend. Kowloon is fun, but the others feel a little too outdated for me. I felt like I was playing user-made-quality maps on CS or Day of Defeat. Not bad, but definitely worse than all of the maps we already have.
I still love how micosoft was so proud that they were getting the dlc first. Wow a whole month. Anyway's im with alot of people here i dont really care cause i dont want to give activison anymore of my money until they come out with something new (not cod).
the zombies mode are so sweet on black ops, i would have paid $20 just for the new map ascension ...
@--Rob-- i dont get it, everyones been saying black ops sucks, how?? I think it's awesome why do you think it sucks??
I will pass on 2 $15 Map Packs. Im also done with COD. I will never buy anougher COD. Im switching to KIllzone 3 the far better game.
Because Microsoft got the money people that own other platforms other than 360 have to wait. I own a 360 and PS3 but I will wait for the PS3 version because online is free. But as the saying goes money talks and bull.... walks.
@NeoSempai ok, your cool. The future of call of duty is they will be milked to the point that the franchise will become irrelevant just like GH.
Are they going to annoy people who dont purchase the DLC into getting it by sticking them into lobbies they cant participate in like they did with WaW? Yet another thing that made IW way better than treyarch, if you didnt have the map pack, you were never put in a dlc lobby. Black Ops is horrible. CoD is OVER.
